About Tim and Jane

My wife and I bought the property in 2000 and built the cabin in 2005.

We enjoy spending time here with our 6 children.

Tim and Jane purchased this chalet in 2005

Why Tim and Jane chose Lake Pepin

We love Pepin! The people are friendly, the scenery is awesome, and we are always reluctant to leave.

Work from home? Why not make this your home for a week? We have high bandwidth DSL WiFi to make work from a quiet , remote location easy and relaxing.

What makes this chalet unique

The quiet and peacefulness reign. Seeing eagles is definitely more common than not seeing an eagle, especially Oct - Apr. During the these months the quiet calms frazzled nerves and there is nothing like a fire in the fireplace throughout the weekend.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Posted with guest permission for stay on Dec 22-25:

We'll definitely be booking again with you in the future. We did see several eagles and took some walks on the beach. I don't think any of the restaurants were open during our stay due to Sunday and the holidays, but we wanted to stay in and cook anyway. Your place was well stocked with everything we needed to make all of our meals and really enjoy ourselves. It was exactly what we were hoping for, and the drive up there along the river was lovely. More than anything, we appreciated being able to bring our dog. I think she enjoyed roaming the beach even more than we did.

Quick getaway.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and Golden retriever stayed for two nights. I smiled when I saw house beautiful this place was. We enjoyed the comfortable bed and many blankets available. It was so quiet and peaceful. No noise! The winery was fun and was very pretty to see it from our window in the living room, it was lite up very nicely. I wish the wood had been stocked up on the deck. It was a little work to carry it up, but well worth the beautiful fire! It was very clean. The stars were beautiful too. It was cold so we did not go out too much, but when warmer the outdoor fire pit and deck would be awesome. I would recommend this place, it was a great get away for our family.

Weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

I really liked this cabin rental. We went when it was freezing so we didn't explore the outdoors much. Inside the cabin it was very cozy with the beautiful fireplace and sitting areas. The kitchen was well stocked and I always appreciate having a dishwasher while on vacation. There were only two of us, but I would say 6 people could sleep there comfortably. If you do have several people you might want to know that the second bathroom is all the way downstairs in the garage. It looked brand new and very nice, but not convenient to the rest of the house. It really didn't have an impact on us since it was just two people, but if you have more you might want to know that. The owners were wonderful to work with and provided a lot of very helpful information about the surrounding area. I would rent this place again!

Thanksgiving getaway

  • 5 of 5

We visited Pepin to have a quiet weekend, cook our own dinner, drive to see eagles in Wabasha and visit the Museum of Marine Art in Winona...mission accomplished! We loved the space...light, bright, clean as a whistle. The kitchen was very well stocked, a delight to cook in, and there were plenty of towels and clean bedding to keep us comfy and warm.

Our only suggestion to the owners: Please write down the TV use instructions....it was tough to figure out how to watch anything, and please connect the DVR...we'd brought a bunch of movies, so could not watch them.

We would return!

Owner's Response: Glad your stay was a good one. Thank you for the suggestions on the satellite TV and the DVD player. The addition of satellite is new and we did not have the DVD player wired. There are now instructions for satellite use and the DVD player is ready to go! We look forward to your return.

Very Nice!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a long weekend in June. The place was extemely clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy so we did not get on the lake. The marina is just down the road so it would have been a nice location for access. Overall, the cabin is wonderful. I would say the only downside is that there is not a second bedroom. There is plenty of space for a group but the beds in the loft were very small. There are futons and such but they are in the main living area so it would just be nice for each couple to have their own private room, still a great place. Tim and Jane were awesome to work with, super friendly and informative. I loved the tips on places to go (especially helpful on a rainy weekend). We did manage a hike on Maiden Rock that was beautiful. We shopped and ate in Stockholm, went to the Nelson Creamery, the Eagle Center in Wabasha and really enjoyed the Villa Bellezza winery. Lots to do and see, hopefully next time it will be sunny!

Great Getaway Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin for 2 1/2 weeks so we became very familiar with the community and the cabin. After the first week everyone in Pepin waved at us as if we were long time residents. A nice community with nice people. We had relatives visit with us for the first 6 days and friends the last 6 days. The cabin easily fits 6 people. At one point we had 8 and it was a little crowded but not uncomfortable. I would not recommend 10. The owner is a very nice helpful person. The cabin was clean, kitchen had everything one would need and there were plenty of towels and bed linens. I would stay here again!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice comments! We are glad that your stay was such a positive experience. The people of Pepin are wonderful! Thank you also for your gracious understanding and the way that you dealt with the refrigerator acting up. It has been replaced and we hope that you can return again for a stay sometime.

Late Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife was needing a break from work as she was expecting a promotion and would not be able to travel for a while. With the winter we were having, we just had to get away but close to the Twin Cities - and somewhere we could take the dog. Tim and Jane have the perfect place for this. Thank you for the great experience! We arrived the morning after a blizzard and rode the rest if the weekend out in comfort and quiet. Just what we needed. Got out a little to eat in Pepin and Wabasha (got to see the crazy folks do the Grumpy Plunge). You guys are easy to work with and we appreciated the great accommodations. It is hard to find a nice place to go with a pet so we are very happy with our experience. Thanks much!

Owner's Response: Glad you had a jeep in order to deal with the snow! What a crazy winter! Sounds like you had a great stay, especially the Polar Plunge at Grumpys. Definitely a spectator sport! Things are green now and we have trimmed trees in order to better view the eautiful Lake Pepin. Thank you for the nice review and we hope you can return for a stay! Kind regards, Tim and Jane
