COME TO WHERE THE EAGLES SOAR!

Lake Pepin Chalet Rental Photos and Description

Chalet, 1 Bedroom + Loft + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 1-9)

A beautiful cabin style home built in 2005 that is quite unique. It has a large great room with red oak floors and knotty pine cathedral ceilings. The oak wrapped roof beam is more than 17 feet above the floor! A stone fireplace really creates a cozy and romantic atmosphere during the winter months. Don't worry, a gas furnace will insure that you never get cold.

The spacious living room and kitchen are all open which creates a wonderful Great Room space for entertaining family & friends. A high bandwidth DSL Wifi throughout the cabin offers easy and quick access to the Internet. If you work through you computer, then plan on a change of scenery while having access to the Internet and your Cloud applications.

There are beautiful views of Lake Pepin from the kitchen and living room. There is a 26' TV, entertainment center with DVD/VHS video player and selection of movies, & fireplace. The living room features a queen size futon, Prairie style loveseat sofa w/ottoman in front of the fireplace as well as a Prairie style rocking chair. The large 16 ft by 27 ft cedar deck offers space for entertaining and great views of Lake Pepin. There are a flight of stairs to negotiate as the garage is below and living quarters above.

The perfect vacation rental place to spend quality time vacationing, family gatherings, or a romantic get-away! Note: We are located less than 2 blocks from the Villa Bellezza Winery!

About Tim and Jane

My wife and I bought the property in 2000 and built the cabin in 2005.

We enjoy spending time here with our 6 children.

Tim and Jane purchased this chalet in 2005

Why Tim and Jane chose Lake Pepin

We love Pepin! The people are friendly, the scenery is awesome, and we are always reluctant to leave.

What makes this chalet unique

The quiet and peacefulness reign. Seeing eagles is definitely more common than not seeing an eagle, especially Oct - Apr. During the these months the quiet calms frazzled nerves and there is nothing like a fire in the fireplace throughout the weekend.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Posted with guest permission for stay on Dec 22-25:

We'll definitely be booking again with you in the future. We did see several eagles and took some walks on the beach. I don't think any of the restaurants were open during our stay due to Sunday and the holidays, but we wanted to stay in and cook anyway. Your place was well stocked with everything we needed to make all of our meals and really enjoy ourselves. It was exactly what we were hoping for, and the drive up there along the river was lovely. More than anything, we appreciated being able to bring our dog. I think she enjoyed roaming the beach even more than we did.

Very Nice!

  • 4 of 5
We stayed for a long weekend in June. The place was extemely clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy so we did not get on the lake. The marina is just down the road so it would have been a nice location for access. Overall, the cabin is wonderful. I would say the only downside is that there is not a second bedroom. There is plenty of space for a group but the beds in the loft were very small. There are futons and such but they are in the main living area so it would just be nice for each couple to have their own private room, still a great place. Tim and Jane were awesome to work with, super friendly and informative. I loved the tips on places to go (especially helpful on a rainy weekend). We did manage a hike on Maiden Rock that was beautiful. We shopped and ate in Stockholm, went to the Nelson Creamery, the Eagle Center in Wabasha and really enjoyed the Villa Bellezza winery. Lots to do and see, hopefully next time it will be sunny!

Great Getaway Vacation

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the cabin for 2 1/2 weeks so we became very familiar with the community and the cabin. After the first week everyone in Pepin waved at us as if we were long time residents. A nice community with nice people. We had relatives visit with us for the first 6 days and friends the last 6 days. The cabin easily fits 6 people. At one point we had 8 and it was a little crowded but not uncomfortable. I would not recommend 10. The owner is a very nice helpful person. The cabin was clean, kitchen had everything one would need and there were plenty of towels and bed linens. I would stay here again!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice comments! We are glad that your stay was such a positive experience. The people of Pepin are wonderful! Thank you also for your gracious understanding and the way that you dealt with the refrigerator acting up. It has been replaced and we hope that you can return again for a stay sometime.

Late Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5
My wife was needing a break from work as she was expecting a promotion and would not be able to travel for a while. With the winter we were having, we just had to get away but close to the Twin Cities - and somewhere we could take the dog. Tim and Jane have the perfect place for this. Thank you for the great experience! We arrived the morning after a blizzard and rode the rest if the weekend out in comfort and quiet. Just what we needed. Got out a little to eat in Pepin and Wabasha (got to see the crazy folks do the Grumpy Plunge). You guys are easy to work with and we appreciated the great accommodations. It is hard to find a nice place to go with a pet so we are very happy with our experience. Thanks much!

Owner's Response: Glad you had a jeep in order to deal with the snow! What a crazy winter! Sounds like you had a great stay, especially the Polar Plunge at Grumpys. Definitely a spectator sport! Things are green now and we have trimmed trees in order to better view the eautiful Lake Pepin. Thank you for the nice review and we hope you can return for a stay! Kind regards, Tim and Jane

Hidden treasure on the Mississippi!

  • 5 of 5
With a daughter and son-in-law in North Dakota, we have learned that meeting halfway is the best for our busy schedules. "Where the Eagles Soar!" seemed the perfect place to do so over the Easter holiday. The chalet is just as it is beautifully pictured.....perfect for our gathering around the fireplace, talking, laughing and catching up while making s'mores! We cooked the usual Easter ham dinner with multiple cooks in the kitchen and it seemed like it was perfectly supplied with anything a cook would need (More than one sets of dinnerware!). Even though I brought my own, condiments and spices were even stocked! Everyone slept comfortably and of course, my youngest one made use of making selfies climbing up and down the ladder to the loft. On Sunday afternoon the sun was out and we explored the town of Pepin, the beach and the marina. Even though the chalet was stocked (according to my youngest) with the latest DVDs, we were able to rent from the BP in town. There is also a small grocery store with a fresh meat counter.

As my youngest said on Monday, "This is the best family get-away yet!"

While there, we explored Red Wing MN....going there for worship and that's the closest WalMart. We also walked the Frontenac State Park, where we did see an American Eagle and even caught a deer lying down with her fawn running around. There is alot to see in the area and we hope to come back again to cross off more on our to-do list!

Great location - nice place

  • 4 of 5
We had a great time here. It's right in Pepin, close to adorable Stockholm, walking distance to town and a bar, across the street from the lake. Also there's a random winery in Pepin, WI (who knew?!?) that has totally decent wine worth drinking and is right across the road from this house. Sort of a nice surprise.

Main room is nice, we were a group of 8 adults. Fireplace, kitchen, two baths - great! We mainly just sat around the fire playing games and cooking for each other - and the space was perfect for that.

I will say that the place only comfortably sleeps 6 adults (that's 2 on a bed, 2 on a futon in the living room and 2 in twin beds in the loft). After that you've got people on couches or flip-out things or one person futons in the loft (they make those?!?) that I'm pretty sure only kids can wake up from without a neck crick. If kids were in the mix I would say up to 8 or 9 is probably doable. But the place was great and location, too. Bring your own paper towels.
