Restaurants, shopping and secluded beaches are just minutes away. When you arrive at this hillside villa, life becomes blessedly simple. Time slows, its lazy progress punctuated by a swim in the pool, an engrossing novel, a nap on the veranda or simply sitting back with a glass of something cold, freshened with a Limóne picked off a tree. If you yearn for the feel of pre-air-conditioned tropical breezes, the whirl of ceiling fans and lots of circulation, you'll feel right at home at Casa La Colina. All bed and bath linens are provided. For your convenience, a washing machine, clothes dryer, grill, beach chairs, and towels are also provided.
Property Management: We do have a property manager that lives on the island. He is there to meet you at the airport, gets you to the property and will help with any questions you may have.
Thank you so much for a wonderful time on Vieques. The house was perfect for our two families with 3 children. We certainly did "get away from it all". The pool was a godsend during naptimes while we were unable to go to the beach. What a relief to relax on the porch or take a swim in the evening. Great location!
We try to visit Vieques every year, and when we do we always stay here. You cannot beat the price, everywhere we go in the North East you pay double this price for less house. It is in a great location on the island, centrally located between beaches and towns, yet very private. You definetly want to have a car on the island, and as long as you do everything is within 15 minutes of this house. The pool is beautiful, and the yard offers lots of oppurtunity for adventure for the kids. There is no TV or internet, which for us is a plus. We love getting away from the faced paced media frenzy. My girlfriend did bring a mini dvd player, or a computer would work and there is WIFI in various places on the island if you want to stay connected. There are a lot of roosters and other islandy noises at night, but after a couple of days you do get used to it and it is part of the charm of the island. Can't wait to go again next year!!
This was a wonderful island to visit and the house was just what we needed. The owner must have taken care of the issues noted in the previous reviews. There was fresh paint and the pool was great. My family spent our evenings playing cards and reading books. It was a nice change from our hectic lives. The beaches on the island are breathtaking while some are very calm there are also several for body surfing. The restaurants on the island are top notch with a lot of local fish entrees. I would certainly visit Vieques and stay at La Colina again.
I will start by saying I was honestly upset that I got there to an empty pool and it took 5 days to fill up to a swimming point but actually took 6 to be fully fulled. I have to say its a big property and its beautiful especially when you get to the gate to enter the front yard its really nice my whole issue was the house it had lots lots of things that needed to be fixed especially the screens cause I couldn't even cook with all the flies and fruit flies in the kitchen. I have to say if the property manager cleans up the house and fix it cause paint is falling from the walls and some other things this would be the house to stay in especially when then the pool is full it was awesome cause in the night the stars come out and they are so close its looks like you can reach up and grab one :) I say this the property manager needs to do some work soon cause the house would be awesome to stay in. I was refunded for the days the pool was empty by the owner.

Owner's Response: This review is from the same time period. The pool had been repaired and the epoxy paint had not dried enough to fill it prior to their arrival. There had been eight inches of rain the previous week and the paint took longer to dry. The property manager explained this to them upon their arrival and they said they understood. I refunded fifty percent of their daily rate for the five days the before the pool was completely full. Please see my response to the previous review.
my wife and i rented this house for 2 weeks..what a mistake! the pictures on the internet are deceiving. every single screen is either broken or loose,so there are insects everywhere.you need binoculars and a 12 foot ladder to see the ocean(its 2 miles away)and the neighbor"s dog runs the property as well as 2 stray cats we saw all the time.we found lizard bones in the couch as well as under the bed.there is no t.v. and no air conditioning.(a must on vacation).the ceiling fans are ineffectual providing little cooling.the fruit trees provide millions of fruit flies and as for cool nights on the veranda...please! you have to fight off the jumping spiders and beetles to sit out there.the property is actually beautiful but needs alot of work.paint is peeling on the living room walls and ceilings.the appliances in the kitchen were old.the blender didn't work and neither did the toaster.the only good thing was the pool and it wasn't filled for 5 days AFTER we got there.and if you don't have a rental car, prepare to be gouged by the taxi drivers.they overcharge all tourists.you are better off renting something in town because most taxis or publicos don't even know where this house is.there are much nicer houses that we saw when we there for rent,so don't even waste your time or money on this one.

Owner's Response: I am truly sorry that this renter had a bad experience at the house. This is the first time I had renters in the summer months. July and August can be very warm and humid and buggy on the island. The mango trees are covered with fruit so they can attract fruit flies and you should take care to keep the doors closed so that they do not get in the house. In the winter months when there is no fruit on the trees, the fruit fly problem in greatly diminished. There are wild horses, cows, dog and cats that roam the island and the Vieques Humane Society works very hard to place these animals. I haven't had a complaint in the past about the neighbors dog but if my property manager had been notified, he could have talked with the neighbor to correct the situation. I do not list TV or air conditioning as a feature in the house. This house is a location for people to get away from it all. If the renters had read the listing fully they would have known before they arrived that neither was available. I had had some repair work done on the pool and it was supposed to be ready prior to their arrival. But due to the island receiving eight inches of rain during the first week of July, the epoxy paint took longer than expected to dry. The pool couldn't be filled until it was dry. I was notified the day these renters arrived that the pool was not full. I gave them a fifty percent refund of their daily charge for the five days the pool was not completely full. On my listing I also highly recommend the rental of a car and I explained to these renters that the house was several miles outside of town. My property manager has a list of publico drivers that he works with and are familiar with the location of the house. Staying in town may be just what some people need but it can be very noisy. Others like the peace and quiet of the barrios outside of town. That is your personal decision.
