Beautiful home...wonderful setting
My wife, 3 year old daughter, and I spent five days here in April 2013. The home is beautiful - the main floor consisted of a kitchen, sitting area, bedroom, and bathroom. The second floor was an amazing master suite bedroom with king bed and bathroom. It was exactly as seen in the pictures. The home was well stocked with everything we needed - including things like salt & pepper, coffee, and even a full supply of toilet paper for our stay. There was a small washer & dryer available as well. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, cups, utensils and the like. The outside screened porch was very pleasant to sit on and enjoy the scenery.
During our visit it was a bit chilly and windy at times, but we were able to go into the water a couple of days using the small beach in front of the home. Sunrise was beautiful - especially from the master suite.
The home is well located to the area - downtown Gloucester is only a few minutes away with a variety of shops, restaurants, and historic sites. Yorktown is about 30 minutes away and Williamsburg is about 40-45 minutes depending upon traffic and route. We ate at Oliva's in downtown Gloucester and Riverwalk in Yorktown and recommend them both.
The owners have recently added internet access - a necessary evil when you are on vacation - and there were two televisions with Directv and DVD players. Although we didn't watch much TV, we did spend some time watching the events surrounding the Boston Marathon (home for us) and the subsequent search.
All in all we had a very relaxing vacation. We were up early every day with the sunrise - and with good reason - as the view was breathtaking and the windows were uncovered. Those with small children my want to devise a strategy to cover the windows in the bedroom if you don't want to wake up too early :-).
We would recommend this home to anyone who was interested in vacationing in this part of Virginia.
