A charming old four-bedroom, two-bath brick home in Caroline County, VA, this vacation getaway is comfortable and inviting with sunny rooms, big braided rugs on hardwood floors, and lots of cozy spots to read, chat and relax. But hibernation is hardly this vacation rental’s only appeal. You can commune with nature on Osage Cottage’s four beautiful acres, plus adjoining Spring Grove Farm has 117 acres of fields and forest for hiking and horseback riding.

Wonderful Stay...Already want to go back!!!

Our family spent 3 nights at The Osage Cottage for Memorial Day weekend. The cottage is absolutely perfect and Melinda even had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and iced tea ready for us when we arrived! There were 5 adults and 1 toddler in our group and it seemed like the cottage was designed just for us. It was nice having 2 bedrooms/1 bath upstairs and the other 2 bedrooms/1 bath downstairs. Our little guy liked the kids bedroom even more than his own room. The cottage has every supply you could possibly need! We had breakfast in the sunroom each morning and spent the late afternoons hanging out in the backyard fighting over who got the hammock next. Melinda even put a baby pool out so our little guy could cool off and splash around in the water. We walked over to the barn one afternoon and met Donald. He was so personable and he introduced us to their beautiful horse, Dexter, and gave us a tour of the barn. We went to Historic Fredericksburg one day and had a wonderful time. There is so much to see and do! However, the best part of the trip for all us was coming back to the cottage and just hanging out. Our family has met up at several vacation homes in the past, but The Osage Cottage is our favorite by far!!! Thanks Melinda and Donald for a perfect weekend!!!

First class home!!

We stayed here in September 2011, as a family of 5, and found everything to be superb. The welcome from Melinda was fantastic and her hospitality first class. We all had a great time and would happily return to this home. The location is excellent and very private - perfect for a relaxing getaway and sightseeing.
Photos of this home cannot do it justice it was very comfortable and more than met our expectations.
The property was extremely clean and well equipped for all eventualities and Melinda's additional touches made it feel like home.
We would all highly recommend the cottage.

Christmas of our dreams!

This lovely cottage in the gorgeous Carolina County countryside far exceeded its description - and our expectations! We arrived hoping to provide a homestyle Christmas for our USMC son and happily found the owners, with well known Southern hospitality, way ahead of us. The vintage cottage, beautifully renovated without losing any of its charm, was neat as a pin and decorated top to bottom, inside and out, for the holidays - even a Christmas tree awaiting us in the livingroom!

The bedrooms were decorated in period holiday style and equipped with wonderfully comfortable beds and sumptuous downy or quilted bedclothes. Baths were spotlessly clean, full of luxurious linens, and so completely filled with every bath necessity, I could have left all but my makeup bag at home! A neat, excellently equipped, laundry area (absolute must for a large family!) was off the upstairs bath nearest the children's rooms - perfect!

The full country kitchen was just what was needed for our family's Christmastime meals/baking and, once again, the owners went above and beyond providing anything extra we might need. Our traditional Dickens-style Christmas dinner went off without a hitch!

The children of our family had a marvelous time exploring the countryside, playing in the snow, watching movies on the large screen tv, and visiting the many historical sites and memorials all around us - including a family favorite, Colonial Williamsburg. The owners provided games, toys and children's dvd's in the bedrooms and we found outdoor toys and play equipment in storage bins outside.

Our two week stay went by much to fast, but, thanks to the gracious hospitality and thoughtfulness of the owners of Osage Cottage, we gave our son (now far away overseas) exactly what he wished for - a homestyle Christmas with his family, delivered to Virginia. Truly, it was the best Christmas ever!
