Why The Owner chose Cambridge

For years we crossed the Choptank River bridge and drove through Cambridge on our way to vacations in Ocean City and were intrigued by its quaintness. Over the past several years we spent a few long weekends exploring the area, decided to purchase a home, and found our property on Jenkins Creek. Although we may eventually retire here, until that time arrives we've decided to share our home as a vacation property. We hope you enjoy our home and the Cambridge area as much as we do!

What makes this house unique

Although located at the end of Jenkins Creek Road overlooking the water and surrounded by farmland and exclusive properties, our home is only moments from downtown Cambridge with all of its amenities. With minimal local traffic, walking, jogging, and bike riding are safe and pleasurable. The school and city park at the town end of Jenkins Creek Road have tennis and basketball courts, a baseball diamond, play areas for kids, and views of the Choptank river. All are a few minutes walk from our house. Also, because of our location, in the summertime you can explore the Cambridge area without the hassle of the beach traffic on Route 50.

Peaceful Indeed

  • 5 of 5
We stayed 5 nights here with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson. What a well equipped house! The only thing we had to buy were our groceries for the week. Very clean and comfortable with lots of room for us. Beautiful view of the water, very quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed the pool and hot tub most every day. Centrally located to many activities and just over any hour to Ocean City. It was a great vacation!

Rest, relax, refresh and revitalilze

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from spending a week long anniversary celebration at Baer Necessities. We were blessed with great weather, a clean well- kept property, and a wonderful location in which to celebrate. Every morning we would sit on the screened - in porch that overlooks Jenkins Creek drinking our coffee while watching the wildlife and enjoying the peace and quiet. Every afternoon we had "pool time" and then come evening head back to the screened-in porch to eat crabs or dinner and watch amazing sunsets.

The house is well appointed, extremely clean and comfortable. The owners are very thoughtful and have provided just about any thing that one could need. There is even a garden with fresh vegetables - tomatoes, peppers, white eggplant and herbs. What a nice treat!

There is plenty to do at the property as well as in the area. We visited Easton (15 minute drive) and went on a walking tour called "Eating Easton" where you sample foods from five different restaurants and hear stories of the history of the town. It was awesome and acquainted us with establishments in the area. We plan to go back to one of the restaurants for a birthday celebration.

This was a true long overdue vacation for us and we are planning a return visit....Baer Necessities is definitely a place to rest, relax, refresh and revitalize.

8/23/2014 to 8/30/2014

We loved our week at Baer Necessities. My husband & I loved the fact that the house was right on the water and we had access to the canoes provided for guests.
We were able to photograph the heron, osprey, and egrets.
Loved to sit and watch the beautiful sunsets from the dock or screened in porch. We also enjoyed swimming in the pool.
Teri and Lauren have thought of everything to make their house so inviting for guests! They were also very accessible via text for any questions.
Baer Necessities is truly a wonderful place to kick back and relax! The week went by all too fast!
Thank you Teri & Lauren for sharing your house.

Seeking peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5
Well-maintained, clean, comfortable home with every convenience one could need. Nice layout - all on one level. Pool, hot tub and pool floats a big plus. Lots of birds visible from the dock including nesting osprey. Very quiet and peaceful. Lots to do in the area - Blackwater Wildlife Refuge is must for bald eagles. St. Michael's is a charming Chesapeake town.

Peace and relaxation!

  • 5 of 5
This was our second year staying at Baer Necessities, and we enjoyed it even more than the first time. There's plenty to do and see in the area, and plenty of ways to relax as well. Sitting on the dock at night looking at the stars was one of our favorites this year. We also enjoyed canoeing, hiking in the wildlife refuge, and of course eating crabs! The kids had plenty to do and kept busy on our one rainy day with the games and books provided, as well as ping pong in the game room! The kitchen is a sheer joy if you love cooking, too!

Great family vacation for both kids and adults

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Baer Necessities the last week in June 2014 for our family vacation (kids 7, 5 years). The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed during our entire week, from pool toys to cookware. The property has plenty of great yard space and a spacious pool area where we spent most of our days playing sports or swimming with the kids. The location is great because you have no problem letting the kids run around outside all day long. After we put the kids to bed, Jessie and I would head out to the dock for some time to ourselves. The sunsets from the dock were great and we would fish for several hours after dark. We caught at least a dozen good-sized catfish (3-8 lbs) and kept 4 for a fish-fry one night. We also got some perch, an eel, and a skate.

Between days in the pool and yard, nights at the dock, and the occasional trip to town for bait or ice cream, we had everything we needed without having to plan other activities or drive in the car for more than 10 minutes. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys the outdoors, wants to relax but still have activities without spending additional time traveling. If you are interested in fishing, you can buy peeler crabs from TL Morris Seafood (just over the Choptank river bridge). We caught everything using those as bait.

Thank you Teri and Lauren for sharing your home with us!
