Spent 3 days here with my family for my grandson's wedding. Wonderful house, comfortable and peaceful surroundings with a wonder view view. Thank you for sharing this very special space.

Thanks so much Debbie. Our family had a great time. We so appreciated the pantry and the spices and it made it so easy to prepare our meal. Thanks for being so flexible during our final contracting when our headcount changed.

Thank you so much for your gift of this awesome river home. It was the perfect place to host my family for my son's wedding. The home is the perfect location for it's proximity to the airport, Salem, wine country and especially the wedding venue. We had a very peaceful & relaxing visit and will fondly remember our time here. The Lamons

We arrived at the River House for a 5 night stay for our son's wedding. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend and return to the River House. It was wonderful August 29th

Our 11 person extended family stayed here for a family reunion over labor day weekend and I just can't say enough about how fabulous this Riverfront vacation property was for us!! There was plenty of room for our group gatherings. We sat on the downstairs couches and talked for hours. The several of us watched a few movies up stairs in the large open very nice common area. The kitchen was sufficiently well equipped and the large grill was on the deck. We swam every day in what were the warm, calm, slow moving waters of the Tualatin River off the backyard dock. We rented kayaks for one whole day from the park just upstream of us and explored up and downstream -- all loads of fun, exceptionally beautiful, and exciting. (We found a secret rope swing for more fun!) The boat rental place opened at 10AM and while they had about 2 dozen or so kayaks, canoes, etc, they quickly sold out for the day, so recommend you get there a few mins before they open. Search Google for 'Aldercreek kayak rentals Tualatin' to locate. (We just drove over and paddled back - took just 20 mins to get back to the house. And, paddles and life jackets for everyone were included in the boat rental.)

There is room for at least 5 cars, so parking wasn't a problem. The living quarters are on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so stairs are unavoidable. As a child we used to canoe and swim in the canal off Lake Oswego and swimming here was pretty close experience to this. But, if perhaps you are unfamiliar with this type of setting, young children should be wearing a life jacket anytime they are within access to the water.

This is a very comfortable home, in a beautiful and fun filled setting!! There are homes on either side, but one was totally hidden by mature evergreen bushes, and the other is largely oriented to ensure a level of privacy. And, while we were there we felt as though we were far from civilization, in fact we were only 10 minutes from Costco, Whole Foods Market and all sorts of shopping! Not to mention, only 20 mins from downtown Portland and all the many excellent restaurants in the area.

July 2013

Our stay at the River House was wonderful. Family vacations go much smoother in a house than a costly hotel. All of us enjoyed making smores at the fire pit and sitting by the water. The house suited all of our needs. We would recommend the River House to large groups with children as our party had four children. The location is beautiful and the roads made for great walking paths. Very wonderful experience and many memories were made here at our stay in Portland.

and relaxing to stay in a house with enough room for a large family and a toddler. We relaxed by the fire pit at night and were able to eat together and play games or nap when we wanted to. We made some wonderful family memories at the River House.

This house has it all. It’s large, comfortable and very well stocked. The pictures highlight all the rooms the house has to offer. There is space for those who love to read, space for those that love to watch TV, the kitchen is large enough for several people so you have company while cooking, there is a room upstairs to play games, put puzzles together and you have access to a computer to research what to do in the area. The location is great! You’re close to shopping and incredible restaurants in downtown Portland. If this is your first visit to the area and you have a sweet tooth, check out Voodoo doughnuts. It’s quite the experience. If you like to read, a trip to Powell’s Book Store is a must. It’s the largest used & new bookstore in the world. Enjoy!

April 2013

This home is cheerful, comfortable and fun! Even though it rained while we were there and we couldn't use the outdoor fire pit, there was a wonderful wood stove we could have used. The home had a great view of the river and it was so quiet and serene, yet close to everything you would need to eat, do or see. There was plenty of everything you could need to feel right at home--from pantry items, to extra blankets, to toiletries and more. We had a great time, and you will too!

Riverfront paradise

  • 5 of 5
We rented this home while our daughter was competing at a horse show nearby and had a fantastic time here.
The homes is just as great as it looks in the listing, and the home was beautifully prepared for our arrival.
We had great fun fishing from the dock and kayaking on the river (we brought our own kayaks) - and the river has plenty of fish to catch.
The home really is completely stocked; the toiletries would be particularly useful if flying in from out of town.
The home is perfectly situated - very tranquil, but only a couple of minutes from grocery stores, etc. and only a short drive from downtown Portland.

An oasis from stress

  • 5 of 5
Thank you, Debbie for making a stressful time both easy and amazingly relaxing. When we had to deal with the storied possessions of a deceased family member, a group of descendants rented Debbie's lovely riverside home. Not only did she accommodate our needs of delivering two 8x16 POD containers to her driveway, she found us some muscle moving help in the form of her nephews. Thank you, Corey and Stephen. With the help of these young men we were able to finish sorting, shipping, and donating in record time and were then able to relax and enjoy the remained of our week in this lovely home.

The home is large with lots of space to spread out. With an upstairs and downstairs seating area. Lots of places to sleep and could have accommodated a much large group of people. Only 2 bathrooms but not a problem for our group of 3. The outside is lovely with a nice deck, where I had breakfast each morning. It has a dock for fishing, although I didn't catch anything I can't blame that on the house. And a nice firepit for an evening of relaxation. The neighborhood was super quit.

It is close to Portland and if driving off commuter hours only took us about 20 minutes to get downtown. Commuter hours are another story though, the traffic in Portland is some of the worse I have seen taking upward to 1.5 hours to go to the exact same place. So plan accordingly.

I found the atmosphere very enjoyable at this home and choose to set on the back deck and read a book while watching the river rather than go out for dinner in Portland. My only regret is I did not bring my kayak as it would have been fun to paddle around, although Debbie did mention there was rentals nearby.

A great vacation getaway spot.

Great home!

  • 4 of 5
I rented this home for 7 days in order to b e in the area for my son's wedding. There was everything we needed to cook, relax and enjoy. The beds were very comfortable. The river view was serene! I would recommend this quiet, secluded home to anyone who needs a larger environment. There were plenty of beds and it worked out perfectly for my group. There are several areas in the home for solitude or watching tv or movies. 2 of the bedrooms are on the main floor and the other bedrooms are on the 2nd floor.

Perfect Retreat Accomodation

  • 5 of 5
This beautiful, quiet setting suited our needs perfectly. The home is spacious and open, with plenty of good light and lots of nooks in which to tuck away when in need of privacy. We had 10 people very comfortably accommodated, and held three days of meetings with up to 14 people in attendance. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking our meals in the well-equipped kitchen, carrying our conversations out onto the deck overlooking the river, and one night enjoyed a lovely campfire together. The location felt completely secluded, though we were just a quick drive from all of our shopping needs. Perfect!
