Overview

Arroyo Seco House Rental Photos and Description

Guesthouse, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

You'll wake up to the beauty of the sun rising over Taos Mountain and go to sleep under a canopy of stars. No traffic noises will disturb you in this pastoral setting, but you might hear coyotes singing at night, or even catch sight of one running through the fields in the early morning light. Our guesthouse is only about a mile from the picturesque village of Arroyo Seco, where you can shop, or enjoy a latte or an ice cream at The Cow, or grab some groceries at Sol Foods. It's 10 miles from the excitement of Taos Ski Valley and eight miles from the galleries, restaurants, Taos Pueblo, and other amenities of Taos. But you'll be in your own peaceful world when you're here.

The spacious one bedroom casita is comfortably furnished, with everything you'll need to feel at home. You'll relish the Southwestern feeling of this adobe house with its viga and latilla ceilings, tile floors and plastered walls. The owners are right next door to welcome you when you arrive, and will be happy to give you some 'insider' tips about the area to make your vacation even more memorable.

About David Woodall

My wife Kathleen and I have lived here in Arroyo Seco for almost thirty years. I have built many houses in the area during my career as a contractor. Kathleen has taught a generation of school kids. We raised our own kids here and have a lot of family in the area. We wouldn't live anywhere else because we love the mountains, the skies, the river and the wide open spaces of Northern New Mexico. Now that I am retired I am pursuing a second career as a wildlife photographer.

David Woodall purchased this house in 1999

What makes this house unique

The mountains and rivers of Northern New Mexico are right outside your door to enjoy, whether you prefer the excitement of the ski slopes or the tranquility of the back country during the winter. In the summer you can raft down Class IV rapids on the Rio Grande, hike the high mountains, fish the streams, take a ride in a hot air balloon over the gorge. Art lovers will delight in the variety of creativity here. And then there is always Taos Pueblo to enjoy.

Quiet casita under the stars

  • 5 of 5
This is a very quiet, very comfortable getaway with an inspiring view of Taos mountain from the lawn chairs and wonderful star gazing on a clear night. The place is very well kept and decorated with beautiful nature photography. The small village of Arroyo Seco, with arts and crafts shops and other attractions is within easy walking distance, and there are several mountain hiking trails a short drive away. The town of Taos is just a short drive away.

A separate peace

  • 5 of 5
The perfect place to base a visit with dear and cherished friends. Close to community but far from the madding crowd, this was a jewel of a place to stay between the richness of northern New Mexico's diverse cultures and its pristine mountain wilderness. The casita is warm and welcoming, just as its owners are. I dearly hope for a day to return, and highly recommend the casita to those who wish to retreat to a separate peace.

Comfortable Casita , Great Views

  • 5 of 5
Casita very spacious, kitchen well equipped had everything we needed.
Ideally situated between Taos Ski Valley and Taos. The village of Arroyo Seco just about a mile away. A good ice cream shop is the Taos Cow in Arroyo Seco. We enjoyed sitting outside casita enjoying the great views of the mountains. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. David and Kathleen are wonderful hosts ;offering tips on what to see and do in the area. You can take a nice little walk close by on Las Animas Rd. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone. Hope to return soon

Summer Fun

  • 5 of 5
Can't beat Taos in July. Sleeping with the windows open was such a treat. Hiking, Mtn Biking, and rafting are all excellent. The Woodall's casita is very comfortable. The views are terrific and the hosts are hospitable without being intrusive.

The Perfect Place quiet and cozy great views

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed in Taos many times but this one has been the best! We enjoy being in Arroyo Seco so close to get to the ski valley and a quiet place to enjoy the view of the mountains. David and his wife have provided a cozy place which was a perfect size for our famliy we had plenty of room. My daughter enjoyed the greeting from their friendly dog she makes a great welcoming party. I would recommend this place to anyone and I hope we wil return also.
