About The Owner

I love swimming, kayaking and snorkeling in the Sea of Cortez and Loreto Bay has the perfect climate to do this!

I live in San Francisco, but always look forward to my trips with family and friends to Loreto Bay, where its sunny and warm and my neighbors enjoy Loreto Bay's beauty as much as I do.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2007

Why The Owner chose Loreto

I learned about Loreto Bay from some friends who also built a home here.

Property Misrepresented

  • 1 of 5
Loreto Bay, 10 min drive south of Loreto, is a great neighborhood concept of community for those escaping the winter months of home. We are 2 couples that rented a house in this community for 6 weeks, with the idea of staying within the neighborhood an additional 5 weeks if we chose. The houses are very nice with 1 bdrm up and at least 1bdrm down with ensuites. We chose this house because it offered internet, TV and an outdoor grill with counter & sink. (these were our 3 priorities) When we moved into the house there was NO outdoor kitchen at all and in its place was a tiny BBQ grill with a tiny propane tank that
lasted 2 dinners. We were continually buying new tanks. The TV was never hooked up to any service BUT there were about 100 old DVD's if you wanted to watch reruns. We compared the VRBO listing and yes the house is yellow & similar but it's NOT the same house as in the listing. I must say the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils but the two living room wooden settees with dusty cushions were very uncomfortable and needed a good vacuum. The alternative was the wooden kitchen chairs with cushions. I wrote the owner about the misrepresentation of homes and our dissatisfaction with no proper sized grill, and no TV. We complained to the property manager and he attempted to work with the owner. At one point she was perhaps getting us a proper grill, that gave us hope and maybe we could make this work and stay longer, but nothing came of it. The place really needs a good scrub. Both bathrooms and bedroom closets still had makeup, lotions and clothes in the drawers as if someone was coming back soon. We had to find a place for all this stuff so we could move in. There was only one upper kitchen cupboard for groceries that was loaded with stuff so had to pack up that as well. We couldn't wait to leave this place for our next house that was a totally different and pleasant experience in this great neighborhood.

Loved this vacation!

  • 5 of 5
We were a little nervous renting a villa outside of a resort in mexico, & the second we arrived we knew it would be perfect for our family. We have "tweens" and the downstairs bedroom was perfect… enough separation and privacy that they enjoyed. I loved the upstairs master bedroom suite and deck. It is just as described / shown in pictures.

The villa is steps from Cafe Corazon, which is great for coffee & breakfast each morning (loved the friendly staff!) Nopolo wine cellar also has a great selection (strong margaritas!) and is close to the pool that our kids like to swim in, so we stopped in for drinks and a small-plate dinner one night which was great. I felt comfortable letting my kids walk to the market to buy a treat each day and felt it was very safe overall and enjoyed it.

Security is friendly and helpful. Ask Francisco in the security office for assistance with cabs if you are taking taxi's. He'll make sure you get a good taxi driver. Jesus & Francisco were our two favorite drivers and both spoke good english. Jesus also gave us a little driving tour around Loreto on our first drive, took us to the Super Ley (grocery), fish market, the sunday market, etc and would wait for us and be "on-call" for our return drive back to the villa after a few hours in town to eat and wander. The taxi worked out just fine for our family, & we discovered that driving isn't bad at all and most of the visitors drove here without fear. Be sure to ask Jesus for his number so you can call him yourself - it's about a 10 min wait for him to arrive from town.

The pools are stunning, beach walks, clamming for chocolate clams was great, kayaking was breathtaking. If you kayak around the point, you can see all kinds of fish and starfish, puffer fishes, tons of birds. So much wildlife here, it's amazing.

Dolphin Dive / Vive Loreto tours (same company/owners) was great for a trip to see the gray whales on the pacific side. I highly recommend it as a MUST SEE if you are there Feb-April. Land and sea eco tours set us up with a snorkeling trip & boat ride to Coronado island, and had a nice experience. We had a little issue with them not having the right size wetsuit for one of my kids, so we rented one for the day from Dolphin Dive easily.

One recommendation for the owner, a set of beach/pool towels in the villa would be great. Also, the master bedroom bedsheets were quite scratchy. Bed comfy, but the sheets not so much.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5
We spent three weeks at this lovely property during November this year. The home is perfectly located in the Founders neighborhood of the Loreto Bay development. It’s very close to the newly opened lap pool, and just a sidewalk and sandy path away from the beach! The pictures of the home do not do it justice! The home has a lovely viewing tower and depending upon the direction that you look you can see the Sea of Cortez, a territorial view of the neighborhood, or an expansive view of the mountains. The upstairs bedroom is much larger than shown, includes a nice desk for computer / working, and also has a large soaking tub. During our stay we enjoyed renting kayaks and paddle boards from Jorge down at the beach. (We rented the kayaks on a weekly basis and spent time paddling and snorkeling heading south down the coast.) Loreto Mexico is not a “wine” destination; however we also enjoyed visiting the Wine Cellar @ Nopolo which is only a few blocks away from the home. It was a great place to have a glass of wine and a snack, and to meet new people! There is also El Corazon coffee shop close by (they serve great coffee) and Luis the "fish man" stops in the neighborhood every Saturday morning to sell fresh fish, lobster, shrimp, scallops! We had a wonderful time!

Budd and Cindy Great vacation!

  • 5 of 5
We love the Loreto Bay area, lot's of activities or just relaxing on the beach. Even better is this condo, modern with a Baja Mexico flair. Great air conditioning adjustable separately for each large room.
Convenient, up-to-date appliances make it easy to travel light and always have clean clothes.
The furnishings are high quality throughout the property. Everything you need is at your fingertips. The modern full kitchen is a blessing when you want a quick bite to eat without "going out". It's also great for someone with dietary needs, like my wife, (vegetarian). If you prefer to dine out the hotel restaurant and others are nearby with a lot of variety of food types.

If you like to swim or snorkel the beach is within a short walk. Fishing in this area is awesome!. I have caught Dorado (Mahi Mahi), Marlin, etc. here. We have also experienced schools of Dolphins.. There are a lot of Palapas for shade and lounge chairs on the beach. There are also several pools close by including the newly opened "lap pool". This pool and its' deck are a work of art.

We have stayed in Loreto numerous times and have found this property to be perfect in every way. It is a great location with a fabulous view in every direction.

(BTW -- English is spoken everywhere in this area; a comfort to my wife who does not speak Spanish)

Beautiful Beach Town!

  • 5 of 5
Our family enjoyed a relaxing week on the charming beaches of Loreto Bay. The redeveloped town is done in an old world style that makes you feel at ease the moment you arrive. The home was clean and well set up, with the beach, palapas, restaurant and pools all within a short walk. The kayaking was great as well. We would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a peaceful seaside getaway.

This is a beautiful property located in a spectaular setting. The furnishings and amenities are well maintained and combine Mexican flavor with comfort. We particularly loved using the built -in barbeque grill on the upstairs deck while enjoying a Margarita and watching the sunset.

The area is incredible with beautiful warm water and many gorgeous islands. The snorkeling, diving and fishing was the best. We saw everything from pods of dolphins to different types of whales. As far as fishing, we caught many dorado, but in other months you can catch marlin and even a sailfish.

We can't wait to return to this wonderful property. This house would be especially good for two couples since there is a lot of privacy.
