MOST BEAUTIFUL ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THE PRICE IN KEHENA BEACH!

Kehena House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms + Bonus 4th bedroom, 2 1/2 Bathrooms (Sleeps 8)

On the Big Island, our family says 'E Komo Mai', and welcome to Kehena Beach Guest House. Our home is located in one of the most beautiful places on earth, the little known and prestine Puna Coast.

As you drive through the coast and you approach this home, you can see the details of a well designed house and it's premier location. The first hints are the full circular drive from street to door, and the tasteful landscaping lets you know you have found something special. This home is intimate for a couple, or large enough for a family. Top floor has main living area, dining area and gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances, extra large master bedroom w/king size bed, master bathroom with double sinks, & walk-in shower, an expansive lanai with ocean views, a gas grill and an outdoor dining on the lanai. If your traveling with family or friends..on the first level there are 2 bedrooms each with a queen size bed, full bathroom with tub & shower, family room and laundry room.

Kehena Beach Guesthouse is south of an active volcano in the laid back community of Puna Beach Palisades. We are three short blocks from the old Red Road which hugs the water and leads to Kehena Beach. This is a black sand beach surrounded by towering lava cliffs. It is the sight of an ancient Hawaiian village and when you are sunning and hitting the waves in the rugged and charming water you will feel the spirit and soul of the islands.

Further Details: Check out the numerous Volcano Touring activities at the Volcano National Park, Lava Boat Tours, Lava Hikes or one of our favorites..the Geothermal Heated Hot Ponds.

You can experience the abundance of shopping for Hawaii's fresh fruits & vegetables as well as unique gift items at either (Saturday), S.P.A.C.E Market in Seaview or at the Maku'u Market in Pahoa on (Sundays) As well as the Hilo farmers market on (Wednesday & Saturdays). If you don't wish to cook..then indulge yourself with all of the wonderful restaurants with various options such as Italian, Thai, Mexican etc.

Guestbook comments from the manager
"If we could give Juan 10 stars it wouldn't be enough....."

Firstly, the photo of the home doesn't begin to do justice to this lovely lovely B&B. Decorated with a fine eye and skilled hand, Juan and Larry have created a true retreat in the lava fields....luckily they are far enough away from Kalapana that it is not threatened by the recurrent flows. Driving into this residential neighborhood, we were curious as to what we would find- perhaps one of those spare rooms decked out with the leftovers of granny's house? NOT!!! A private entrance leads into a small guest dining room and lounge. A few books, great art and full on hospitality are just steps away from quiet and private rooms. Great mattresses, quiet colors in the linens tried to lure me to bed. However the firery volcano had to be visited first. There is a great little resturant (walk-up order window, fine fine ahi) not 5 min away for dinner and then the trek out to see Pele. (That is another story!). Getting back at 11 pm, sinking into that comfy bed was just heaven. In the morning Juan makes a full breakfast with fresh juice and homemade whatever you like- the french toast is highly reccommended. This place, and the people who call it home are not to be missed. Our mistake- not staying longer!!! This district is a hidden gem and next year we'll not make the same mistake twice.

WONDERFUL HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5
This was my family's first trip to Hawaii and staying here was the perfect accommodation for the 7 of us. The pictures do not give this beautiful home justice. Everything was neat and extremely clean and Juan was THE BEST when it came to letting us know the "must see" places, advising us on how to pack, and where to get groceries before coming to the house. He always was nice enough to come by (per our request) on our last day to meet and talk to us about some of the Big Island's history. Even though there is no cell phone service (ATT) there is free wifi and you can call the mainland from the house phone. There isn't cable TV but you have several DVDs to watch and Netflix. My only regret was there wasn't a TV downstairs and that's where my Mom slept and spent most of her time since she wasn't able to walk upstairs everyday. From ages 13 to 72 we all LOVED staying here and exploring this wonderful community and island.

STARGAZING IN LUXURY

  • 5 of 5
Absolutely gorgeous house! Very tastefully decorated, wide open rooms, meticulously clean. We stayed there for 4 nights with our 5 children. It is the perfect location if you want to explore the coastline in that area. It was a 45 minute drive to the Volcanoe National Park though. There is no shop or restaurant close by, you will have to drive at least 15 minutes to the next village. On the other hand, you have the night sky almost to yourself! I have never seen so many stars! Juan, the manager, is wonderful to work with. He greets you and shows you around. Two things should be mentioned: no cell phone reception (Verizon); one double bed is located in the living room behind a thin wooden separating wall. Our little twins liked it to be so close, for a teenager or an adult it might not be private enough.
I would definitely recommend the rental and will keep very good memories....

PURE RELAXATION

  • 5 of 5
This is a beautiful, immaculate home. It was spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished and quiet. I felt very comfortable and relaxed here. I only wish I could have stayed longer!

I really enjoyed my breakfast as well as the star filled sky at night. I give this place 5 stars.

LUXURIOUS AND AFFORDABLE!

  • 5 of 5
I had a wonderful stay at the Kehena Beach Guesthouse! Completely agree with the reviews posted
in March and April of 2009; the place is even better than described by those guests. One of the
cleanest homes I've ever had the pleasure of visiting; the breakfasts were delicious and filling. Located about 1/2 mile from the coast, this dwelling is stylish and comfortable (and far enough inland to be safe from any tsunami!). An easy stroll through a pleasant neighborhood will take you down to beautiful sea cliffs with lots of shade, grassy clearings, and scenic vistas. During my stay I was not bothered at all by mosquitoes or other insects. The nights were quiet; I slept very well. There is WiFi for those of you with portable computers. My host was helpful and friendly, without being
intrusive; most of the time I felt like I was alone in the house. The grounds are nicely landscaped
with many interesting and pretty plants; a work in progress, it will only get better as the vegetation
matures. Staying here was one of the high points of my vacation. I hope to return someday.
Conveniently situated for exploring the Puna district, this home away from home will delight you!
Both Hilo and the Volcanoes National Park are within easy driving distance. There are farmers
markets, bakeries, cafes, coffee shops, and many other attractions less than 40 miles away. Be
sure to get a visitor's library card for only $10 if you are going to be in Hawaii for a week or longer;
books and CDs can be returned to any branch on any island. The best prices for 100% Kona
coffee (whole bean or ground) can be found in Hilo at the bigger stores. Don't be afraid to get food
from the roadside vendors; great stuff! I particularly enjoyed the lau lau. Take time to just hang
out at the guesthouse and relax. You'll be glad you did. The biggest mistake is trying to see too
many things in too little time; slow down and you will have a much better experience. You can
always come back again. I have been to this island 14 times since 1991 and I still find new things
to see and do! On my next trip I hope to live at the Kehena Beach Guesthouse for a week, instead
of only 3 nights. You will enjoy staying here.
