Romantic 1940's cottage built by a family that was said to have spent their time here in the summers. The neighbors, as it was told to me, was the ''Buddy Ebsen family better known to everyone as ''Jed Clampett on the Beverly Hill Billies'' the cottage is where their Butler lived and the main house is still standing and has now become another vacation rental.

So come and stay a little while where Jed walked and lived and played as a young lad and as the tale of the''Great room in this cottage he used as the dance floor.''

The great room has the original fireplace with gas logs now and large windows to enjoy the sunlight and the majestic 9 foot ceilings with the original beams in the kitchen and great room. Updates to the cottages that is made for your enjoyment.

The Great Room has a majestic TV Armoir that was recently installed and came from the Biltmore Inn another piece of nostalgia to be enjoyed by all who stay here.

The cottage has a picnic table under awning trimmed with gala lights and a barbecue grill onsite so that you can cook out and enjoy the table and with the summer breeze.

The drive was lined with Mountain laurel and Wild Azaleas and the same unique qualities are still here just waiting for you!

Just 15 minutes away from downtown Asheville, Biltmore House, Grove Park Inn and Broadmore golf. Close to shopping, antiques shops, just 5 minutes to downtown Historical Hendersonville, 20 minutes to Chimney Rock in Grand Lake Lure,15 minutes to Brevard that holds more unique shops and outdoor activities along with Water falls and Sliding rock they say ''that the water is soooo cold at the bottom'' that cools you off for the hot summer days. So go and enjoy these mountains and see what they have to offer.

These quaint towns are easy to get to and makes for a interesting day for your enjoyment during the day and great eating and romantic nights out!

With the Summer days coming to an end soon then the beautiful Fall picks up. The cottage has views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and from the front porch you can see these mountains as they turn to their crimson colors of red,yellow,orange and set with a back ground of the blue skies

at this time peace seems to fall over the misty trees better known as the Smoky Mountains and cottage with the gas log fireplace brings warmth to the atmosphere of how cozy it is inside snuggled up on the sofa and watching the television or even a retreat to the cozy futon with a good book.

Come and enjoy this cottage and all that it has to offer to make your vacation to the mountains a memorable one!

About Jeanette Glenn

I am a native of Hendersonville, North Carolina. I grew up in Horse Shoe went to school at West Henderson High and graduated in 1966. I am a mother of 2 children and a grandmother of 3 children.

I love the mountains and love to travel but the mountains always call me home.

Jeanette Glenn purchased this cottage in 1999
Why Jeanette Glenn chose Hendersonville

I bought this property in November 1999 rented it several years a single family residence. Until I found out about the history 'Can you imagine owning a place that belonged to a Movie Star that person would be Christian L Ebsen Jr. AKA as Jed Clampett on the Beverly Hillbillys now how awesome is that!

So I decided to turn it into a Vacation Spot so other could enjoy it. As Jed would say 'Come and Sit a Spell'

What makes this cottage unique

These homes where built in the 40's bought in 1946 as raw land and built later the next year.

How awesome is it that we have such history here but unless we tell it no one would ever know.

So come and enjoy this home and I have enjoyed putting it together and see the Deed of Trust that transpired back in Oct 1946 hey that was even before I was born.

We had an extremely pleasant stay at The Butler cottage. It's so cozy & comfy that we had a hard time pulling ourselves away from the couch to go out sightseeing. The owner was very quick to communicate and great to work with. The Butler is an EXCELLENT value in this area where rentals are priced sky high. The close proximity to I-26 makes it quick and easy to get to Asheville.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: I am always trying to accomodate all the the travelers that visit my cottage and help them in anyway that I can. This time is such an economic hardship for travelers that want to go and take trips but the economy has everyone so strapped I want to make some of those dreams come true. My husband and I spent a glorious month at the Butler from June into July. The privacy and coziness of cabin was a perfect end to a day of exploring area sights. We were fortunate to discover a great hostess and new friend in Jeanette.and we hope to come back again and again...I would recommend this property to anyone except if they wanted to come when I do.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Romantic Getaway

The Butler Cottage is a cozy and charming home away from home that is perfect for a weekend getaway. Everything you need is made available for you to use and it's a quick and easy drive to historic downtown Hendersonville. Most of all is the ambiance of the cottage that is warm and inviting making you feel so relaxed. Great place to get away and unwind for a couple of days.

We enjoyed our stay at the Butler Cottage very much. Jeanette was very attentive and responsive whenever we had a question or small problem. It's great to stay in a place that is more like a "home away from home" than a motel.

Being in Hendersonville, it is close to both outdoor activities and the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as all the stores and dining available in Hendersonville and Asheville.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Butler Cottage to anyone who wishes to spend some time exploring the Asheville area.

I found the owner to be extremely helpful and friendly, the cottage was very clean,was sorry the weather was too warm and didn't get to use the fireplace. The place had an old fashioned charm but Jeanette sure it had all the modern ammenities. I would stay there again.
