Exceptional Value, Bright, Spacious, Clean and centrally located, our guests have raved about this apartment ever since we opened 10 years ago.( Please browse Guest Comments to see for yourself) This gorgeous one-bedroom apartment of 55 square meters (600 sq. ft.) has undergone a complete renovation recently. It is located on rue Beranger, in the Third Arrondissement at the Place de la Republique, in the heart of Paris. Place de la Republique is a lively and bustling plaza with supermarkets, pharmacies, taxi stands, restaurants and everything else. Metro Republique is just steps away and is a hub for 4 metro lines, so you can reach any point of Paris with a short ride away.
If you dread the idea of schlepping your suitcases up a flight of narrow stairs as much as I do, then this ground floor apartment is ideal for you. ...and if you're a bit claustrophobic staying in a typical Paris hotel or studio/loft apartment (read tiny), then you'll appreciate the spaciousness and the high ceiling of this one. This apartment is located behind not one but two interior courtyards, so it's an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. It is very safe as there is always plenty of shoppers and restaurant-goers about even quite late in the evening.
We've renovated this apartment by gutting it to bare walls and then rebuilt it tile by tile. It was done with the American traveller in mind, so it has all the comforts and conveniences you'd expect in a luxurious American apartment... the separate kitchen has a microwave , a refrigerator, dishwasher, 4 cook tops with oven, washer/ dryer as well as an eat-in area. The living room has a sofa and an arm-chair that folds out to sleep one, telephone, DSL Internet access and cable TV. The price is all inclusive, including the linens, so you won't get a surprise at the end of your trip. Indeed, this apartment would make an ideal stay for a couple, or a couple with a child.
The bedroom retains all the charms of a 19th Century mansion, with crown mouldings, fireplace, stain glass windows, 10 ft. ceiling, and original parquet floor. It has a queen-size bed and lots of closet space. In the tiled bathroom you can pamper yourself with a walk-in shower or a separate tub. This apartment can easily accommodate 3 persons. Please feel free to browse 'Guest Comments' below to get a feel of the apartment and get answers to some of the questions you may have. For your comfort, this is a SMOKE-FREE apartment. Children under ten years of age allowed with the permission of the owner. Please be advised that this is a self-catered limited service apartment. As such we will only provide linen service upon check-in, but not during your trip. We will have a contact person in case of any emergency. There is a binder with information on the use of appliances, tourist books on Parisien restaurants and sights to see. We will give you a web site if you need theater bookings, guided tours, etc.
Lastly, be sure to visit La Jeune Rue on rue du Vertbois, which is a leisurely 5 minute walk from the apartment. La Jeune Rue has been described as the intersection of delicious food and high design recently unveiled to great fanfare to the Parisien public. Please google recent New York Times and Wall Street Journal articles describing this new epicurean village.

My wife and I fell in love with Paris the first time we visited in 1986, and ever since then, we have come back again and again to this magical city. We decided to buy an apartment in 2004. After several months of intense work, we were able to call our little corner of Paris home.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2004
We love all of Paris but we are especially enchanted with Marais, with its many small boutiques, restaurants, one-of-a-kind stores. The apartment is within walking distance of the center of Marias, but is also close to the Metro Republique, where 5 metro lines intersect. It is therefore a hop and a scotch to all Paris.
Just returned from a 4 night stay with 2 sisters. The apartment was as advertised and very quiet and comfortable. The information supplied by the owner was extremely helpful. We arrived on the Eurostar from London and were very appreciative of the close proximity (3 stops on the metro) and early check-in time so we could make good use of our limited time to explore the city. Excellent location for many metro lines as well as walking to both main attractions and through the charming neighbourhood streets. Kitchen equipment easy to use and the Monoprix supermarket has everything you need if cooking in. We frequented the boulangerie/patisserie around the corner too often!
Many restaurants, cafes and markets near by. Rue de Bretagne worth a visit. We recommend the restaurant Numerocinq on the other side of Canal St. Martin if you like Vietnamese food (5 Rue de la Fontaine-Au-Roi). Excellent food, a lovely owner and less touristy than many places. I would definitely stay again!
The apartment rental was flawless--everything worked for us to easily gain entry. The entry from the street really put us in the mood of being in a historic building with visions of carriages entering the archway. The apartment is spacious and gave our 9-year old granddaughter a very welcome private sleeping space on the convertible couch with her own tv to watch French cartoons. The bathroom was amazing with two options for showering and plenty of hot water. My only caution is that you should just be a bit careful to not touch the hot water faucets--they get very hot indeed. A nice problem to have when you need to steam away the aches from walking many miles around Paris. The kitchen worked well for us--all appliances work and we enjoyed leisurely breakfasts every morning with food purchased at the nearby market. High celings, atmospheric shutters that let in breeze but kept out early am sun, massive closets, comfortable beds, even a computer to use when you have to. The phone was helpful for a few local calls too.
Very clean, decent pricing, and a superb location served by many Metro lines. On the morning we headed out for the airport the Shuttle service didn't show up, but a quick run around the corner got us a cab at the stand that turned out to be slightly less expensive than the Shuttle and private.
Don't miss Temple Square nearby for a relaxing time on the lawn and a stroll to the markets a block away.
Great value--we'd stay there again for sure.
Apartment as described in the listing - spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. Yes, the upstairs neighbors seem to either be clog dancing or moving furniture at times, but not so much to make a big deal of it. Be careful adjusting temperature of the water in the shower or tub, as it's a quick adjustment and the hot water is SUPER hot. Location is perfect for either the metro or walking pretty much anywhere in Paris. The metro station (Republique) is one of the stations where 3 or 4 different lines stop, so it's real easy to get pretty much anywhere. Walking is easy too, as the relatively central location is 'close' to everything. We stayed here for ~2 weeks and walked almost every day. As others have noted, the boulangerie/patisserie around the corner from the apartment is a great place for a quick sandwich or pastry, and the Monoprix is just a 5 minute walk to stock up on groceries.
Overall, a great stay and great apartment - we hope to be able to stay again on our next trip to Paris.
This was a return visit for my husband and me. Again we found the apartment to be clean, well equipped, nicely furnished and modern. The kitchen is well equipped for those, like myself, who like to cook. The location is fantastic. Close to the metro and within walking distance of most of the major attractions. Although, the apartment is located in a very high traffic area, its position within an enclosed courtyard deadens any outside noise. This place made our week long visit to Paris so easy and enjoyable. The information supplied by the host is extensive and very informative. When we were ready to leave to catch the Eurostar, the taxi rank was just around the corner. We would highly recommend 21 Rue Berenger.
It was living in Paris rather than being a tourist. Yes we were tourists and being so close to the Metro, restaurants, the Marais and the Canal St. Martin was perfect.
The property is even more cozy than the photos. Living room was great for reading, surfing the web and TV watching. Good reception on all accounts. The provided computer came in handy when IPhone and IPad screens felt too small. Thanks.
Inner courtyard was tranquil with immediate entry out into the world from the central location. Yes, upstairs neighbor was a bit clunky, but having read the reviews beforehand , we were not really bothered by it.
Nice layout of the apartment with large windows opening into the court yard. Bright enough especially in the afternoons.
Don't miss crossing over the Place Republic and going over to the Canal St. Martin. Very scenic, great restaurants, and a wonderful area to stroll through. Check out the two Cambodian Restaurants.
This apartment far exceeded my expectations. Everything that one could possibly need was thought of ahead of time. The bedroom has a very comfortable bed and very spacious with recessed lights and empty night tables nearby. The wifi was wonderful. Kitchen was well stocked with wine glasses, plates, wine opener etc. Except for the noise from the neighbor upstairs (and that's the reality of life in an apartment) it was very quiet. And for those with heavy bags, the ground floor location is heavenly. In addition the overall locations is absolutely perfectly situated not far from Gare du Nord for those taking the Eurostar and heading to Charles de Gaulle.
I will definitely be back!
