Stayed for about five days with a small child. The condo is pretty safe for children, and there are high spots to move things for curious fingers. It was quite clean, all linens and bedding are comfortable, appliances work great, and the noise level is low. As others have mentioned, the river view and direct access to the bike/pedestrian path are very pleasant. I loved having coffee and watching the sun rise. It's hard to understand the negative reviews below about cleanliness, towels, etc. We saw no such problems.
The caution is that families with substantial strollers/gear, people with limited mobility, or solo travelers might have some difficulty. The easiest and fewest-steps method to reach downtown is the bike path to around Davis street. At night, that means going through dark isolated areas and under bridge underpasses, which is not particularly safe when alone. The more direct routes are a pedestrian overpass around Irving or 2-3 flights of stairs up to the bridge at Lovejoy. Both can be done with a stroller or wheelchair, but with a lot of shoving and waiting for elevators. The kicker is the condo community. At 11 pm, gates roll shut and close off all access except for a single point far at the other end of the complex (and not near any of the downtown access points). Catch a late show or linger over dinner and the only way back in is to crawl under a fence. For me, that was just unpleasant. If I were in a wheelchair, I'd have literally been locked out for the night.
The access issues are not under the owner's control. Everything she had control over was great. They are, however, significant and worth considering. If you are able-bodied and not wheeling anything, this is an excellent bargain.
I stayed in this condo for a little over 2 weeks. It had everything that was needed and more. Not super upscale or fancy but simple, clean and very nice for the price. A huge plus for me was that it was steps from the river front walking/running/bike path which can get you anywhere on the river front in a decent amount of time. While sitting in the living room there is a very nice view of the Broadway Bridge which is equally nice both day and night. There is also a view of the nicely kept gardens on the Condo grounds. The Patio has a nice view of the river as well. The convenience store was a short walk away. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who is active and likes to walk/bike or run.
I was in town for a work conference and my husband flew in to meet me and spend the weekend following the conference exploring Portland. We love to get a local feel and often stay in B&B's, VRBO spots, etc. This was one of the best we have stayed in. The owners were prompt in all communication leading up to our stay and made the check-in extremely easy. The condo was clean, modern and all amenities were top of the line. We visited the Portland Farmer's Market before checking in and purchased fresh salmon, eggs, morels and elk sausage and cooked several meals at the condo during our stay. It was PERFECT! The condo has a great little patio overlooking the river and is just steps away from the river path. When we were not relaxing there we were able to walk to all the attractions we wanted to see in downtown Portland. We walked to Voodoo Doughnuts, Powell's Books, lots of shops, restaurants and breweries, all within 20 minutes. This condo was just what we were looking for for our relaxing, comfortable weekend in the city and we could not have been happier with how we were treated by the owners.
We had to go to Portland on business for two and a half weeks. Our business was downtown. This condo was perfect for us. It made a great home/office away from home.
The condo is clean, well equipped kitchen, real comfortable bed even with a bad back. TV has cable and on demand. There is a small store and a pizza place just a short walk through the condo complex.
We had to come back in November to follow up on our work, and returned for just one night. Even having to pay the cleaning fee for just the one night, it was still cheaper than a hotel and much more comfortable.
The only con was that there are no ramps to pull our wheeled luggage in, just stairs to the unit.
We will go back any other times we need to be in Portland.
We stayed for almost a week with our 10 month old baby. There was enough space for his pack-and-play, so we can surely recommend this apartment for small families! Our son was moving around on the wooden floor and enjoyed the space (and clean floor) a lot. His parents enjoyed the comfy couches, the well-equipped kitchen and the outside BBQ (which belongs to the apartment complex). The location on the river was great, so we could take extensive walks up and down the river paths. Within a few minutes you are either downtown or in the hip Pearl district. But if you are not lucky, a train will cross the street, so you have to wait. But that is the only downside ;-)
We had enough closet space, plenty of towels, so we can only recommend to everybody to stay at the apartment. Thanks, Jessi!
I had a very pleasant stay at this lovely condo. The location is excellent for those wanting to explore Portland. I enjoyed being so close to all the riverfront running/walking paths. I was using this condo more for a "stay-cation" but it is super close to many Portland attractions. It was clean and comfortable.
Enjoy all that Portland has to offer. Walk to the Saturday Market, attend the River Front festivals, walk to China Town, the Pearl District, or the Rose Garden for concerts and games.
Several MAX stations are within walking distance (two blocks) and can take you right to the Rose Gardens, Pioneer Court House Square, the Portland Zoo, Museums, the Expo Center, airport, and cities surrounding Portland.
Other Activities: Kayaking, Boating, Wildlife Viewing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowboarding
