Very Disappointing Experience
Based on description and reviews we booked this property for three nights. We left after one night, and appreciated the cooperation of the owner in refunding our cleaning deposit and two nights that we didn't stay.
The riverfront location has wonderful access to walking paths and is convenient to many Portland attractions.
The condo was not clean. The bathtub was scum covered and a very dirty rag was flung over the shower curtain rod. The kitchen sink and drain looked as if they hadn't had a good cleaning for some time and the refrigerator door was sticky as was the dining room table. The floor was very dirty and the bedroom carpet had major staining. The cobweb covered desk lamp was stuck in the closet, we assume because it was not working.
The owner made an effort by sending the housekeeper back on the morning after our arrival but our observation of her cleaning techniques convinced us that we needed to go.
Additionally, even if the property had been clean, we found the accomodations different than the description. The unit is located in the lower level of a multi story building. The small patio is accessible through a sliding glass door. To see the river one must stand at this patio door or on the patio. The patio is furnished with a bar height table and two chairs, this necessary to sit high enough to see the river. The chairs require cushions but no cushions are provided. From the kitchen window which is above the sink one can look through several adjacent buildings at a peak of the river. The furnishings would be adequate if clean but they are not gourmet or upscale.
There is an extensive inventory of everything in the condo and a statement that things missing would be charged to the occupant. In spite of this, there were not enough towels for two.
Owner's Response: We take all of our renters concerns seriously. This why we are willing to resend our professional cleaners back down to the condo if people feel it has not been cleaned up to their standard.
Following this stay we took a critical look at the state of the property. The unit appeared in the condition one would expect after a short stay there. The light referred was placed in the utility closet after it was replaced with an up-dated light fixture in the living room and additional towels were located in the bedroom closet. The light is now removed in order to avoid further confusion, We hire a professional cleaning company to ensure that the property is in excellent condition for each new stay. The cleaning company deep cleaned the entire unit, including the bedroom carpet, in order to address any cleanliness concerns that we may have overlooked. As reflected in the pictures on this web-site there is a clear view of the river from the unit and cushions are provided for the outside seating.
We have had several other people stay at the condo since this review and have had no further complaints or concerns.
