Photos and Description of the Kamilari vacation rental

The specialty of Villa Ilona, the feel-well-house in Crete, is the colourful interior design, created by the artist Ilona Metscher. She and her husband Jochen Reinalda are the owners of the house. There is enough space outside on the three large terraces and in the Mediterranean garden to do or do not whatever you like. During the day you can have sunbathes, have a cold shower and get dry lying on one of the comfortable sun-chairs. At night you can admire the fascinating Cretan heaven with thousands of stars. Because the owners use the house often for their own vacations, it is furnished completely and very comfortable. You will not miss a TV because the heaven, the landscape and the people of Crete are much more fascinating than 'Big brother' etc. The villa consists of two units. It is located at the edge of the small village of Kamilari, five minutes by foot to the 'centre'. There you have good shopping-facilities for daily use, some taverns. But no disco!

You find a large living-room with integrated kitchen as well as a sleeping room and a bath room in the apartment. In the living room there is a good oven, sleeping facilities for two persons, a table with chairs. In the kitchen there is a big refrigerator, a gas-oven and an electric oven, espresso-machine, toaster und much more useful things. Little stereo for CDs and MCs (please bring along). Sleeping room with double bed. Marble bathroom with shower and electrical heater, washing basin and toilet. Two large terraces (one east, one west) with stone-benches, tables, garden chairs, beach chairs. And: Outside-washing basin, outside-shower and ping pong.

The old 300-people-village of Kamilari is located on a small hill in the rural region of the Messara-plains. The road that leads from the famous place of Phaistos to the village of Matala is about one mile away. The people get their income from agriculture and from tourism. Foreigners are very welcome. In Kamilari there are no big hotels or all-inclusives. There are a few private guest houses and apartments. Most of the visitors are spending there holidays in Kamilari since years. Having arrived in the 21st century the village has kept its charm and privacy. Nearly all people of Kamilari and their guests speak English. There are some mini-markets for the every day use and some taverns, where you can also try special Cretan food. It is still cheap in the south of Crete.
