You will love our beautiful home away from home, with its polished slate floors and updated features. But the best thing is being oceanfront!! Lots of resorts are on the ocean, but fewer units are ocean FRONT, meaning that there's nothing between your home and the ocean but a few steps across the lawn. Any time is the perfect time for that great tropical get-away you've been meaning to take! You'll be sitting on your lanai at sunset, drinking a tropical beverage and enjoying those famous sunsets with that special someone (or someones!).
This 1 br/1 ba, completely updated condo is OCEANFRONT; there's nothing between you and the water, sand, turtles, and great snorkeling that are just about 40 feet from the lanai. The first floor location means you walk directly out to the pool area, bbq grills, and Maui's warm waters. The offshore reef keeps the strong surf at bay and makes the water here like a big, warm, turtle-filled bathtub. We absolutely love it and know you will, too.
The condo was recently remodeled to feature a completely new granite and tile bath, maple cabinets, polished slate floors, Island-style contemporary decor, ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room, new furniture and appliances, and free Wi-Fi. This is a non-smoking condo complex, even outside on the lanais, so you are guaranteed a smoke-free environment (this is not the case at most condos).
The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, 4-burner stove and oven, fridge with ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, and coffee maker, along with all the dishes, glassware, silverware, and cookware you will need. There is plenty of cabinet space to stash away your groceries. Try our our cool pineapple slicer! Enjoy your meals at our glass-topped kitchen dining spot for two, or outside on your lanai.
The living area has a 32' Vizio flat screen TV, DVD/VHS player, CD player, and cable TV. It also has a ceiling fan.
The full bath includes a tub, shower, sink, medicine cabinet, and toilet, with granite counters.
The bedroom features a king-sized bed, mirrored sliding-door closets, and a dresser with plenty of storage space, along with a clock radio and Ipod docking station. A remote-controlled ceiling fan and louvered windows keep breezes flowing, and the smell of the plumeria outside is the best thing ever.
The condo sleeps four people, with two in the bedroom and two on the sofa sleeper. This is a perfect condo for a couple or a small family. It is also a ground floor unit, which gives you the most direct access to the ocean. Your oceanfront lanai has a dining table and 4 chairs; lounge chairs are found around the pool, which is in front of you. Parking is conveniently located immediately outside the front door; there is no hiking from the parking lot to your condo.
On property there is also a coin laundry for your use, and outdoor bbq grills with an herb garden featuring plenty of rosemary, basil, Thai basil, sage, oregano and other herbs. There is also a prep sink and colorful prep area. Stock up on groceries, grill a nice steak, and enjoy just staying put for a few nights during your stay; you may like that just as much as Maui's famous restaurants.
For your day trips around the island, we have a rolling cooler, another small cooler, a beach umbrella, sand toys, and four beach chairs. We also have a copy of the Maui Revealed tour guide for you to borrow during your stay; it's the best Maui guide out there. We have also created a notebook of our favorite beaches, activities, restaurants, and other tips that we hope will make this trip very special.
Our location is in Honokowai, about 10 minutes north of Lahaina, and about 10 minutes south of the Kapalua resort. With all due respect to the Wailea/Kihei fans out there, we think West Maui is the best location for beaches and restaurants. You don't have to do as much driving to get to places; there is more to do, see, and eat within a 10 minute drive in either direction. Walk 5 minutes south to the Farmer's Market 3 days a week, and sample some fresh banana bread...it's one of our favorite things to do!
If you're here on a Friday night, join the other Kulakane guests poolside at sunset for the weekly pupu (appetizer) party. Bring your favorite one to share, and blow the conch shell at sunset with your fellow guests. It's a fun Hawaii-style tradition that is just one of the things that makes our place so special.
We've stayed in Maui for many years, and been at many of the big resorts, but there is nothing like having your own private home that is just steps from the water - no parking fees, resort fees, hiking through miles of hallways, and legions of people everywhere!! No thanks! We'll take west Maui's quiet, small-town atmosphere any day. Come once and we know you'll come back again. We looked at dozens of places before choosing this condo and we are so proud to offer it to the VRBO family.
Rates vary with the season. Rates are just $119 per night for the low season (June - August), and $139 for April 15 - May 31 and September 1 - December 15 (excludes Thanksgiving week). During the high season (December 15 - April 15), the rate is $195 per night. We encourage our guests to book EARLY, especially for the winter high season, which traditional sells out.
