About this property

Gulf Shores, Al Ft Morgan, Pet Friendly Beach House only 40 steps to sand dunes-

"SPECIAL SNOWBIRD RATE", winter periods of 1November - 31 March, (1) one
to (6) months. The 'Dunes' Beach House is located in Cabana Beach subdivision, 8961 Pompano Way, on Fort Morgan Peninsula, in Gulf Shores, Alabama, next door to the open, uncrowded "Veterans Beach" of Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge.
We are almost beachfront without the cost. Pompano Way Road dead ends in front of our house, walk left out of our driveway, no roads or lots to cross. and about 40 steps you are in the Sand, an area that has the sugar-white sand/quartz Beach, which is the whitest, cleanest and softest in the world! It's composed of 99% pure silica quartz (found only in S. Ala and in NW Florida Pan Handle). It was washed down from the Appalachian Mountains thousands of years ago and deposit by the rivers onto the S Ala an NW Fla coastline.

Just down the road is the historic Ft Morgan, and a ferry that crosses the bay to historic Fort Gains on Dauphin Island.

The 'Dunes' brings back memories of long ago, when you sit on one of the two decks, and listen to the birds, watch the waves roll in and sometimes dolphins playing. You can enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, see the stars at night with no obstruction of streetlights.

The two-story Beach House is cozy with two covered decks, swing, two picnic tables, hammock.

-Ground level has an outside shower with hot and cold water, utility room with a washer, two dryers, gas fish cooker, and lots of beach toys, maybe even a forgotten kite. There is a picnic table, swing, hammock and chairs.
-Main level has a deck overlooking beach/gulf, living room with sleeper sofa, cable tv, wi-fi, the kitchen is open and fully equipped. It has a breakfast bar which seats two and a table that seats eight. Off the hallway are two bedrooms, and a shower bath. One bedroom has twin beds with tv, the other has two queen sized beds, with tv. This level has all ceramic tile flooring which is easy to maintain.
-The master bedroom is up a flight of stairs to the top level. It has its own bath, and private deck overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. This room has walk-in closet, tv, telephone, king-size bed.

When they are training you can also enjoy the Navy's 'Blue Angels', which are based in nearby Pensacola. They train in the Cabana Beach area. We have one of the pilots trained, when we are on the beach, and he comes flying low over the gulf we frantically wave, and he does a 180-degree flip to flying upside down!

We have volunteer fire department, so no fireworks or "fires" are allowed.
Pets are allowed with prior approval.

1/2 of rental rate is required when reservations are confirmed, remainder is due 45 days prior to reservation date.

Key) six words: 'The Dunes' Gulf Shores, Ft. Morgan, fishing, pet friendly Beach House, almost beachfront. about 40 steps and you are in sand dunes/beach.

Pleasant trip
My wife and I (along with our 2 small dogs) spent the month of February at this nice home. The location is ideal: It’s at the end of a dead end street, only a few steps from Veterans Beach, which is owned by the US government. Dogs on leashes are allowed on this beach, and our furry “children” thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The house has two decks and great views. It is a 3 bedroom and 2 bath home that is well furnished. We felt like there was lots of room for our group of 2 adults and 2 dogs. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, utensils, and a large starter set of consumable supplies (e.g., paper towels, dishwasher detergent, toilet paper, etc.). Leroy and Nan were wonderful to work with. They provided lots of helpful information about the local area, and were immediately responsive to questions by either email or phone. They demonstrated the ideal balance of helpful hosts, but were not overly intrusive. Our goal was a quiet vacation. This house, with its wonderful location, greatly exceeded the goal. We explored numerous local restaurants (definitely go to Jesse’s on the Bay - about 2 minutes away!). The house is in the Cabana Beach subdivision, which in February consists of a nice blend of full time residents, snow birds and empty houses. It is located about 12 miles from the middle of Gulf Shores on the Fort Morgan road. In February, there is hardly any traffic and the trip back to Gulf Shores goes quickly. We will definitely be back.

Best beach
The beach house is on the best uncrowded pet-friendly beach only one house away from the beach dune trail. It was great to be able to bring the pup along and fun to meet other dogs while at the beach. Check-in was easy, and the owner sent lots of details, including a recommendation for a good restaurant in town we may not have picked otherwise. Owner responded quickly when we had one issue come up. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals. There is a nice ocean view from the porches, and being in a quiet neighborhood made for a relaxing vacation.

Why they chose this property

"The Dunes" Beach House is our 2nd Home, that we also rent, so we keep it updated. Kitchen, Family room and kitchen updated 2019.
(4 minutes, NOT correct on gps/map). It is only 40 steps from our driveway to Sand Dunes/Beach We are residents of Alabama and were married in Mobile, Al many years ago. We love the quietness of the ocean/beach area of Fort Morgan peninsula.
Their are very few Beach areas left like the Ft. Morgan peninsula, no crowded beach, quiet, no traffic/street noise, not boxed in by High Rise buildings!.
But, yet close to shopping, restaurants, etc...

What makes this property unique

You are only 40 steps to the "Sand Dunes/Beach".
When we travel until we can go no more, we retreat to the Gulf. There, having left the stress behind, we sit on the upper (or lower) deck, and watch the beachcombers out very early, listen to the cooing of the doves, and at times watch the dolphins play. It's just a short walk to the store to get a paper. Then we do only what we want to do. Just settle in for the most quiet, relaxing, best beach vacation ever!
At night, and with no street lights, you can see so many stars, they seem so close, you feels like they you are among them! can reach out and touch them!
