Hi my name is Rafael.
I work as a photographer.
After spending many years traveling the world I fell in love
with the Accord area and its unique charm.
In addition, the outdoor activities are abundant.
Accord and The Catskills are a great place to get your chill on no matter what the season.
The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2007
The area offers many options for outdoor activities and is close to manhattan , however has the charm of a time
long past where quiet, winding country roads lead you to a restive and pristine environment.
The bucolic setting will bring out the writer/ farmer / environmentalist in you, or you can just get a good nights sleep
without the background noise of all the city hustle and bustle.
The house boasts a organic veggie garden, and pool table adjacent the patio where the Bbq can grill your evening meal to perfection.
Munch on a carrot while you enjoy a cool Corona and game of pool after a long day hiking or mountain biking.
The vintage badminton set on a sunday afternoon will be a hit with friends if they come visit.
My wife and I travel quite a bit and to be fair, we realize we're a little picky. This place has been put together with a mindful touch. I love to cook and the kitchen is extremely adequate and accommodating with new gas range, new fridge, tons of counter space, a grill out back, everything you need and some great local farmers markets and grocery stores close by. There is a terrific wood burning stove in the main room that is extremely charming and works terrifically. We've been twice, once in cold weather and once in a little warmer. Terrific fire pit, relaxing chairs, and a beautiful sprawling backyard. Kept up interior of the house with nice working shower, washer and dryer if needed. Close to great hiking and biking trails/state park. Very nice and accommodating owner to top it off. Just a great place, great vibe, couldn't imagine not having a wonderful time. Can't wait to go back.
I've stayed here many times over the last 4 years, each time has been a memory in its own. The property is relaxing and comforting. A perfect getaway from the city. Big plus in the kitchen for those who like to cook! Everything I need is always there, spices, pots, pans and always a healthy amount of Meyer's soap for cleaning up! (Meyer's products in the laundry room as well) Major points in my book, as I'm sensitive to typical chemicals used in traditional soaps and cleansers. Plenty of room for multiple guests, but still intimate enough for 2 or 3. I've slept in each one of the beds, and had a peaceful sleep in all of them. Soft sheets, iron headboards, and room warming rugs in each bedroom. The accord wine shop around the corner, and farmer's style market stocked with local goodies makes for a convenient and quick gathering of accoutrements for a cozy night in. There's a larger grocery store, Emmanuels, not more than a 15 minute drive for longer week or weekend stays. The host of the property has always been prompt to return emails or phone calls prior to booking, and has always been readily available for the few times I've had to contact him during my stay. Overall, one of my favorite properties to visit. I'll continue to enjoy many more nights here as long as the property is available.
I've stayed at this delightful house many times throughout the past 4 years. Raf is a wonderful host and always does his best to make our stay nearly perfect. You can't beat the location - 2 hours from NYC, and tucked away in a sweet little town, yet close enough to great swimming holes, farm markets and activities for kids. I love the renovation he did - keeping the character of the old home, but modernizing kitchen and bath in really tasteful ways. I'm an interior designer, so rather fussy when it comes to vacation houses - but Raf's is the best. Forgot to mention the yard and the garden. Can't wait to get back soon!
This house is a gem! It was everything I had hoped it would be. The description of property was accurate. The owner was great to deal with and made us feel welcomed. It is in a great location for anyone interested in enjoying the outdoors. It was a short drive to the heart of the Catskills and many other state parks this area has to offer. I would definitively recommend this property to anyone looking to find an affordable, reliable, and comfortable retreat.
