This is not your typical rental cottage. This family owned and loved cottage is only available to a few families each year. The cottage was completely renovated in 2010, but retains it's charm and style. It is the perfect place for summer vacations, fall winery touring, or spring getaways. Home is completely winterized with radiant floor heating. Upstairs bedrooms have window air conditioning units if you need them. You can walk to the Switzerland Inn for lunch or dinner. You are close to wineries, the Windmill market, Lakeside Golf Club, and nearby waterfalls. The gourmet kitchen is enormous. New appliances including large refrigerator, dishwasher, separate icemaker, wine refrigerator, Bosch gas cook top, and antique farm style sink. The countertops and island in the kitchen are made from reclaimed french oak barrels from a local winery. Charming built- in breakfast nook has views to the lake with dining space for 2 or 10. Awesome sunroom/living room (16’x20’) has walls of windows, two-story ceiling with trusses, overlooks the lake with view of the bluff, and is great for relaxing and entertaining.
Master bedroom is on the main floor with private bath and Queen bed. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with private bath/shower. Both have Queen beds, all with new mattresses and bedding. Upstairs also has a small bedroom for children with trundle/day bed. The terrace level with 2nd Master suite has King bed with private bath including antique claw foot tub and separate shower. Adorable powder room bath on main level. Office on main level with desk for computer use. Cottage includes high speed DSL Wireless Router, HD TV, DVD player. Lake water is filtered for drinking and cooking with a whole house ultra-modern UV light filtration system. There is a Den/family seating area on the terrace level with sofa (fold out queen size bed), card or dining table, and large storage space for water toys.
The porch runs the length of the house and then wraps to the lake side for wonderful outdoor entertaining. The porch was enlarged from its’ original design for expanded seating area and more space to view sunsets across the lake. There is a 2 person glider, a 2 person swing, a large dining table on the side porch, and lots of adirondack chairs. A lower terrace has a 8 person table for outdoor dining, gas and charcoal grills, and allows for access without steps through the beautiful grass lawn to the permanent 50 ft dock.
A tandem kayak, sunfish-class sailboat, and canoe are available for use. Boat lift will accommodate ski-boats up to 18 feet and 2000 lbs. The large lakeside lawn and beach is a gradual slope that allows for family to lounge, play ball, or relax. A stone fire pit is on the beach for family gatherings at night to watch the stars. An outdoor fireplace on the lake side lawn is a wonderful backdrop for family photos.
A private drive to the cottage leads you to ample parking for cars and trailers.
The location is one of the best on the lake. There is privacy for family gatherings and spectacular views of the lake from the cottage. We hope you enjoy your stay at “Southern Sails” as much as we love this cottage.

We are parents and grandparents, and we are fortunate enough to be the third generation to care for this cottage. We offer it to others for a few weeks each year to enjoy this special lake and this special cottage,
Jeannette Wilkins purchased this cottage in 1954
The location is ideal because of the gentle slope of the land, giving easy access to the lake without a breakwall. The lake frontage is 50 feet. The neighborhood is the most beautiful and well maintained on the entire lake.
The cottage is close to wineries, the charming town of Hammondsport and the Glenn Curtiss Museum. Antiquing, Watkins Glenn, and Corning Glass museum are favorite activities. Local berry picking is a very fun activity with the kids, not to mention, delicious!
This cottage is located in the center of Keuka Lake activities. Close to wineries, and good restaurants.
