1 BEDROOM + DEN. WONDERFUL DECOR - EXTRA UPGRADES

Solitude Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

The Solitude experience is really something that you must experience before you can understand how wonderful it. Nestled in the heart of beautiful Big Cottonwood Canyon is a charming little European style village. Set inside of the village are little restaurants, a small ice skating rink, a beautiful club with heated pool and hot tubs, and tons and tons of snow. Right next to the village is Apex and Sunrise lifts that you take you up the mountain to some world class skiing and powder. The experience that you will have there with your family is one that will keep you coming back for more and more. Solitude's list of annual guests keeps growing and growing.

About our upgraded condo: It was built in 2000 but was just purchased by myself at the end of 2010 and completely refurnished with every piece of furniture. We have features that you won't find at other condo's in Solitude. Secure WIFI and HD Televisions to begin with. (Most condos up here do not have these upgrades) Our unit is in the Powderhorn Lodge, facing the inside of the courtyard, giving you peace and quiet throughout your stay. The unit is One Bedroom + Den and is 759 square feet. It has a King Bed in the bedroom, a bunkbed/futon in the den, and two full size couch beds in the living room (5 beds total) It sleeps 4-6 very comfortably. We also have a 42' High Def Television (1080p) in the Living Room, a 32' High Def TV in the bedroom, both connected to a 100+ channel DirecTV package which includes HBO. There is also a 27 inch High Def Internet TV that has streaming Net-Flix available in the den. We have a secure wifi router just for you inside the condo for great internet reception. In the Kitchen we have all the items you'd find in your home (i.e. pots, pans, coffee maker, microwave, etc. even a crock pot ) My business partner and I spend alot of time up here and we have made it as comfortable and amenity filled as possible. Our condo is pretty tricked out.

Solitude's European Village is a great resort that has a limited number of rooms available in the Forest Service's Protected area of the Cottonwood Canyons in Utah. The Cottonwood Canyons are world reknowned for it's continual 500 annual inches of fresh powder that falls year after year. Brighton (featured in a few Warren Miller movies) is 2 miles up the canyon and you can purchase a Solitude/Brighton lift pass which allows access to both resorts.

Solitude's skiing is excellant. My favorite part about it is enjoying the same powder you see at Alta/Snowbird but you have hardly any lift lines. As a local Utah skiier, it has become my favorite resort because of this. Most Utah locals know that the Cottonwood Canyons, because of their location as the forefront Mountains in the Rockies, get significantly more snow than other Utah and Colorado resorts. These Mountains rise above the Salt Lake Valley floor in an extreme display of vertical change. They pierce the clouds, draining them of their precious, light powder and then allow them to float over to Park City, Deer Valley, and the Canyons where they deposit half of the amount of snow. Just for reference: 2010-2011 ski season. Solitude received 646' of snow compared to Park City's 336' of snow.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Hi Nathan,

We had a very nice time at your place and at Solitude. It would have been better if we could have a bit more snow, but I don't think you could have done anything about that. You have a nice place and we will look to rent from you again if we go again.

Happy New Year!

Nathan & Rick are friends that met while working in the same building in Salt Lake City. Both are avid skiiers with families. Nathan works as a CFO while Rick works as an agent with State Farm.

Nathan purchased this condo in 2010

They decided to purchase the condo after Nathan vacationed there over the July 4th weekend. He felt like he was in a different country, thousands of miles away with some of the most gorgeous scenery that he'd every seen; Though he was only 30 minutes from his house. Nathan convinced Rick to invest with him and they've loved the place ever since.

The Ski-in/Ski-out is huge as Nathan has younger kids that don't want to ski very long, though it doesn't spoil the trip when their done. The nature up there is amazing, both during the summer and winter. Club Solitude is great for staying entertained and refreshed.

Spring break

Great location, easy access from Salt Lake City, tons of snow. Everything we needed was there. Nathan gave us all info we needed for trip. Would recommend skiing additional resorts close by if staying more than 2 days as Solitude somewhat small. No crowds at all.

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for a little under a week, ringing in the 2014 new year. Unit description and photos were accurate. Unit was clean and everything worked. In addition to standard kitchen pots/pans the pantry was well stocked with all those little things like coffee filters, salt and pepper, etc. Nathan was immediately available via phone when I had a question (the answer was already in the information he had provided). Unit worked well for 2 adults and 2 kids who spent most of their time on the slopes, stopping in for lunch, relaxing in the evening and sleeping to recharge for the next day. I recommend this ground floor unit and would stay again.

Great condo in solitude

  • 5 of 5
We stayed a week for Xmas with my husband and 10yr old son and had a great experience here. The condo is exactly as advertised and very clean. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking (you need to buy groceries in Salt Lake City as the owner warned us as there is no grocery store in Solitude). Very convenient location in the village ...skiing was good with no lines at all at the lift. There were nice activities in the evening for kids (s'mores, avalanche dog demo, ice skating) . We would definitely consider it for our next ski trip.

Winter Wonderland for our NC Family!

  • 5 of 5
Our first visit to Solitude was a blast and hopefully won't be our last! We're a family of 4 - Mom, Dad and 2 kids on winter break from college - and we had plenty of room here. The condo is centrally located, nicely decorated and well equipped - especially the kitchen. The amenities at Club Solitude are also great. We knew we were a little early in the season, but the conditions were pretty decent and we were lucky to get 16 inches of snow Wednesday night through Thursday. I highly recommend the dining experience at the Yurt, and if you stay long enough take a day to ski/snowboard at Brighton. We were a little concerned that the snowstorm would make driving out of the canyon to the airport early Friday morning rather treacherous, but the road was fairly clear. The condo owner was also very helpful!

Sweet Solitude

  • 5 of 5
My wife and son and I enjoyed both the Solitude resort and our Powder Horn condo immensely.
Nathan, the owner provided comprehensive information about the condo and what to expect about the resort and he was a100% right about everything. Even though we had some jitters about late Spring snow conditions, we were rewarded with 15 inches of glorious powder over our five day stay.
The condo is perfect for a couple or a small family of four and the ground floor location and proximity to the indoor ski lockers off the lobby is a real plus. We found the condo very clean, well stocked, and with a pleasant view to the inner courtyard. After visiting a unit with a mountain view, we decided that it was an unimportant feature because you spend so much time looking at the amazing scenery while you are on the slopes of Solitude. We would definitely stay at this condo again if we come to Solitude in the future.

Great Condo at Fantastic Ski Resort

  • 5 of 5
Took my 11 year old daughter on her first trip to Utah and stayed at Nathan & Rick's condo. The condo had easy access to everything in the village. The condo is also very well kept and exceptionally clean on our arrival. Will strongly consider it again for our next destination ski vacation. Nate was very helpful with all my questions. By the way, my daughter LOVED getting to spend time with the avalanche dogs!
