Overview

Truth or Consequences House Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1full bath

Cozy and romantic, this private guest house is situated on the bank of the Rio Grande River. The private flagstone patio has its own custom natural hot water mineral tub, which overlooks the rio and the sacred Turtleback Mountain. The home is located in the historic hot springs district of TorC, which has recently had much national media coverage due to its quirky retro atmosphere and the nearby future spaceport. Due to the unobstructed expansive views of diverse desert chaparral and Turtleback Mt., one gets the feeling of remoteness; however, within three blocks, one may discover art galleries, coffee shops, restaurants, local grocery, banks, antique, junk and book stores. While watching out the wall of windows in the Great Room, one can observe wildlife such as beavers, coyotes, raccoons, bobcat, and a never ending stream of migratory birds that use the Rio Grande as their super highway, while the Turtleback turns crimson in the late afternoon sun. This true adobe home is furnished with antiques, local art, and oriental rugs. The fully equipped kitchen, with copper farm sink and upgraded appliances is all you need to cook a gourmet meal with the world renown Hatch green chile. Hatch is only a half hour’s drive away. Come to tube, kayak, golf, swim, hike, fish, explore, bike, or just relax and take in the view. There is something for everyone.

Couldn't ask for a better place to rejuvenate, relax and unwind....

Couldn't ask for a better place to rejuvenate, relax and unwind....
  • 5 of 5
My husband and I arrived uptight, stressed out and badly in need of a vacation. It has been four years since we went away together. After starting a new business and working seven days a week not only did we NEED this place, we had yearned for something like it.
At first look we thought we had turned into a trailer park, but once you get past the front gate, you walk into a peaceful oasis. The shrubs, tress, blooming flowers, jasmine and honeysuckle intoxicate the senses. Located along the banks of the Rio Grande, the house is a peaceful respite for the tired, overworked and weary.
We unpacked, jumped into the healing waters and started to unwind. Heaven. Joining us were an immense variety of birds-giving us the joy of their songs singing to our souls.
The house is equipped with everything you need, inclusive of a sweet kitty named Toad. Toad was especially wonderful for us, as we were missing our three dogs immensely.
If I said we would like to buy this property, its an understatement. Here, we have found nirvana. We will be back-many times.
Thank you Ken and Sally for providing such a serene, luxurious and amazing space. We will never forget this vacation.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed everything about the guest house. It was the perfect size for the two of us, very cozy without being at all cramped. The living area felt very expansive with many huge windows overlooking a spectacular view of the river and mountains. It was very private and had a feeling of seclusion even though it was right in the village. The private mineral spring hot tub was a special treat. Everything was clean and comfortable, the kitchen had everything necessary if you should want to cook meals....and I could go on forever about how wonderful this place is. We enjoyed being at the casita so much that we spent less time than we had planned visiting the local area, and more time just relaxing and enjoying being at the casita. We are looking forward to a return visit.

Relief from big city angst.

Accommodations - 1st Class! View from casita - 1st Class! Owners/Ownership - 1st Class! Pictures/listing - Right on the money! Overall, this private guest house offers what any couple would look for in a get-away: neat, tidy, well-appointed accommodation on the banks of the Rio Grande with exceptional service, care and concern by the owners. The surrounding area (T or C) offers a very wide variety of life styles and tourist vistas to explore.

Tropical Desert Jewel on the Banks of the Rio Grande

  • 5 of 5
No wonder they call this the Land of Enchantment ! Our stay here was magical. It was like being on a tropical island without going through Customs. ...Hidden in the best part of downtown T or C.... Even our friends from T or C, did not know it was here !!

The place is breathtakingly beautiful -- STUNNING -- is more appropriate. The house, with its gorgeous light, furnishings, eloquent art, rugs, ammenities, killer strereo and kitchen to die for .... perched on the Rio Grande, with the beautiful birds and the resident cat.... we think there is a little beaver that lives in the bamboo grove at the edge of the bank.... This place has EVERYTHING ------ your very own private mineral springs hot tub, which overflows into a waterfall and over the flagstone patio, back down into the river, if one doesn't shut it off on time ... to plush cotton terry cloth robes, outside speakers, even a make up mirror, lotions and potions, a washer and dryer, porcelain English China and old fashioned silver utensils ..... The knockout sweet smelling honeysuckle, the beautiful gass and flowers, their automatic sprinkler system, the landscaped gardens, the retractable awning we didn't figure out for days ... the redwood deck ..... the dog walking path along the rio... the changing light of the scenery... the view !!....We did NOT want to leave and were lucky enough to stay an extra two nights !!! This beautiful handbuilt house reflects the exquisite taste of the owners, Sally and Ken........Oh my, our stay here rekindled a friendship and began a great love affair ......We are definately coming back !!! Yikes - whatta find!! Be sure to include this Paradise on your trip -- you will see what we mean..........

Enjoy an escape to nature and solitude, while actually in a modern, comfortable casita.

  • 5 of 5
Well maintained, as good or better than it looks in photos. Owners great to work with.
Wife and I truly got away from it all in this quiet new Mexico town. Casitia feels remote, but only a few blocks from grocery store and resturants.
Imagine seeing an eagle dive into the Rio Grande, come up with a fish, and soar away -- from your private mineral hot spring.
Bank to river is STEEP, but with a lilttle effort you too can launch a canoe or kayak and paddle among the ducks.
