A Warm and Welcoming Southern Home for Small Family Reunions
My daugher and I rented this lovely home (not just a house) for six days to prepare for a small, family reunion to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my mother's Home Going. My mother, who was born and raised in Aiken, lies at rest in Aiken Memorial Gardens, so it was a perfect location in terms of closeness to the cemetery. However, it was also perfect in many other ways and when family members arrived from California, Arizona, New York, Georgia, and Pennsylvania for the one-day family get-together they all remarked on the beauty and charm of this venue. The rooms looked exactly as the photos depicted them; the house and outdoor areas were spotless; the owners were very accommodating and provided homemade cookies which my grandchildren devoured. The downtown Aiken location also offered an opportunity for my grandchildren to visit the local museum and learn something about our ancestors' hometown, as well other fun activities. My son-in-law was able to discovered a place to fish. While it's not a New York City or Philadelphia in terms of tourism activities, we were able to keep happily busy, then relax in the jacuzzi at night.
