Fantastic Villa

  • 5 of 5
The villa is set in an idyllic location in the woods above Mook. It is very comfortable, clean, tidy and obviously well looked after. If you want peace and quiet in the countryside this is the place! We took our bikes and enjoyed some great cycling (in spite of the unseasonable rain) including a trip up to Arnhem on the train and a cycle back. Nijmegen is well worth a visit and we just had a great week!

ps one evening highlight was the appearance of 2 deer in the front garden, wonderful!

A wonderful week

  • 5 of 5
We spent a wonderful week at Villa Mookerheide. Arrangements made by email beforehand were handled efficiently, and very clear instuctions were provided by Anneke, on how to find the villa.
On arrival, we were met by Abida, who showed us around the house and where everthing was. She had prepared the house immaculately.
We were immediatly impressed by the quality of the house and fittings, and the cleanliness. The location is beautiful. It is private and quiet. Idealon all counts.
The presentation on the website accurately portrays the house, but on arrival, we were not prepared for the reality of the house. It was a cse of "Wow", "isn't this just great" and "We could live here, I wish we could stay longer"
We visited Nijmegen a couple of times, Maastrict, Kevelear in Germany, Efterling, and some family friends in Gennep and Wellerlooi.
We also went to Restaurant de Schans , and Restaurant 't Zwaantje , both nearby and had excellent meals in both
Overall, our stay at Villa Mookerheide was fantastic, the only negative is that it was not long enough.
We would highly reccomend villa Mookerheide to anyone visiting the area

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5
We have just spent a wonderful week at Villa 'Mookerheide' - wonderfully peaceful and quiet which was just what we needed. There was everything that we needed in the villa and our little boy really enjoyed spending time exploring the grounds around it.

The accommodation was very comfortable and provided an opportunity to relax in the evenings - we were lucky enough to have some lovely weather and were able to take advantage of the outside space to eat. It was spotless when we arrived and everything was in good working order. The booking process was very well managed by Anneke who was always ready to answer any questions we had. We were met by Abida who welcomed us to the property.

There is certainly a lot to see and do - we spent every day out and about. With an interest in the second world war we visited Nijmegen and Arnhem as well as the occupation museum. We went over into Germany for a couple of days - even visiting Aachen which was 1 1/2 hours drive away. Our son certainly enjoyed his day at Burgers Zoo - the 'Ocean' world was an excellent part of this! We left with things still to do so hopefully we will make it back one day.

We would certainly recommend this property to others.

A cottage with a view

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5
We highly recommend this as a holiday let. The Mookerheide is a beautiful location with woods and wildlife all around, yet within easy reach of all sorts of attractions.

The cottage itself is beautiful, well decorated, well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Our children particularly liked the enormous table and bench to while away sunny afternoons.

Anneke and Tom were exceedingly welcoming and helpful. Everything was catered for.

There are plenty of attractions locally, the Mookerheide itself, Plasmolen lake and Nijmegen are all nearby. The Kroller Muller art gallery and surrounding parkland are brilliant for the Van Gogh, Mondrian, Pisaro etc, but also for the free bikes and trails which were superb for adults and kids. The open air museum in Arnhem is also worth a full day.

PERFECT!!!

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week in Mookerheide during the vierdaagse.

I feel like I have written a travel guide below, so - in brief...

PERFECT LOCATION - feels remote but everywhere is so easily accessible by bike or foot. Many attractions are just a short drive away.
PERFECT HOUSE - modern, extremely clean, good quality pots/crockery/utensils etc.
PERFECT HOST - Tom couldn't have been more welcoming and we really appreciated the time he spent trying to make our stay enjoyable with his tailor-made recommendations for restaurants and days out etc. He is a gentleman.

The rental was very well organised, we knew exactly where to go, who would meet us and when - Anneke had advised via email. We arrived a little early to find Tom just finishing off preparing the house but it was immaculate. The kitchen was very well equipped with good quality items, even a choice of coffee-makers! The rooms were all a reasonable size and the living area was spacious, nicely decorated and had a wood burning stove. Outside, there were two different areas for alfresco dining, my favourite being the picnic table at the front of the house where there is nothing to see only the woods. So quiet, peaceful and most relaxing!
Located just a short walk/cycle away are a number of restaurants. Zwaantje serves delicious reasonably priced meals at lunchtime and more expensive dinners as well! Den Tol pancake house is devine and again, a 5 minute cycle away (all down hill on the way there!).
The atmosphere during the vierdaagse was amazing! Nijmegen was bustling and Groesbeek was very welcoming to the walkers where the music and applause carried on from morning until night.
There are many attractions close by in Arnhem - Burger's Zoo makes a good day out for the children and the Open Air Museum was great fun - but get there early, there's lots to see and do. Moviepark in Germany was a real hit with the kids.

We had a ball and were very sad to leave. :o(

Thank you Anneke and Tom, hopefully we'll be back someday.

The Higginsons x
