Burney House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrms, 1 half bath plus extra room, sleeps 5-7

The Stonehouse Cabin is nestled on 10 acres in a beautiful forest of Pine, Oak, and Cedar trees on the edge of the small town of Burney, California. The cabin-architectural style and the welcoming front porch disguise the luxurious interior of this home built in 2008. While it feels like you are in the forest, the location is very central and within walking distance of pools, parks, and shopping. It is ideal for families, fishing enthusiasts, couples, etc.

The cabin features the latest in modern conveniences while maintaining a classic 'cabin' feel. From the beautiful stone fireplace, to the hardwood pine floors to the rustic wood railing, the decor and amenities make guests feel right at home. The downstairs area features the living room, kitchen, dining area, Master bedroom (king size bed), second bedroom (twin bed) and bathroom. The upstairs loft has two twin beds (which can be converted to a king)and a full bathroom. An additional guest room (queen bed) with 1/2 bathroom is located off of the 2-car garage and can sleep 2 more guests. There is an inviting front porch where you can sit and take in the beautiful surroundings.

Located in the heart of the Shasta-Cascade region, The Stonehouse Cabin is a great 'base camp' location for the many outdoor activities offered in the area. The town of Burney is located near the recreational areas of Lassen Volcanic National Park, Mt. Shasta, and Macarthur Burney Falls Memorial State Park. The cabin is only 15 minutes from Burney Falls!

Possible recreational activities include fly fishing, boating, bait fishing, kayaking, water skiing hiking, biking, golfing, cross country and downhill skiing and snowmobiling, in addition to spectacular site-seeing in the surrounding areas.

The Stonehouse cabin is perfect for families with small children, couples vacations, fishermen groups, and adults just wanting a retreat in a beautiful mountain setting.

The center of town is just a short walk away. Burney offers convenient shopping, restaurants, and even a movie theatre. Just steps away from the Stonehouse Cabin is the Burney Community pool, a neighborhood park and the high school play field.

So come enjoy the beautiful, serene nature setting of the Stonehouse Cabin. You will truly have a vacation to remember!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time! The cabin was perfect and we got to spend a lot of time at Mt Shasta, Lassen National Park and Burney Falls. It was a great adventure. Thank you so much for building such a great place and choosing to share it with others. We'll definitely be back!

Lovely Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 had a wonderful four days here. The cabin is very cozy and and well equipped. We spent time in nearby Redding, but also enjoyed exploring the area (hiking Burney Falls!) and getting some sledding in close by Lassen. Although the property is located in town (making a last-minute trip to Safeway very convenient), it feels very secluded, tucked away off a side road in a rustic wood. The house itself is so welcoming that we also spent many hours sitting by the fire playing board games and reading. An evening snowfall made it picture perfect!

Owner's Response: So glad your family enjoyed your stay! The snow fall on your last day seemed a perfect ending for you. We would love to have you back again -- try coming in the summer for a new experience. Lots of great outdoor activities at that time of year.

A Wonderful, secluded cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 5 fly fishermen have long wanted to fish this Golden Triangle of fly fishing in California. We caught and released nice fish in the Fall River, McCloud Lake and the Lower Sacramento River below Redding. We planned to fish the McCloud River but it was "blown out" by high and dirty upstream water.

Back to the cabin. It was very nice for our stay. It was modern, clean and air conditioned (we were there in July with temperatures in the high 90's. I believe the website describes the property very well. And the owner is very nice and provides really good info for using the cabin.

As for the Burney area, there is a nearby Safeway store which make shopping easy. The town is small and does not have any great restaurants but does have a few small ones. Burney Fall is a must see for anyone going to the Burney Area. Be sure to give yourself time to pause at the falls to look at the intricacies of nature in the beauty and source of the falls.

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for almost a week in August, and were delighted with this charming cabin in its woodsy setting! The cabin is almost new and very nicely designed, decorated and furnished. Since there were just 2 of us, we only used the downstairs and it was just the right amount of space for us. (There is also a loft bedroom and bathroom upstairs, and a little apartment out in the garage). The kitchen is well equipped with all modern appliances and everything you might need. The flat screen TV and reliable wifi were a real plus. You feel as if you're out in the woods, but it is only a short walk or drive to the grocery store and downtown Burney. We had daily visits from squirrels, birds and a young buck (deer). Burney Falls is a must see, only a short drive away. And for a longer excursion, Lassen National Park has many wonders. The owners were very responsive and helpful. Thank you for a great stay!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay with us! We had heard that a young deer had taken up residence near the cabin, and I'm glad you got to see him! We love sharing our home with visitors, and we especially enjoy it when guests take in all that the Burney area and Lassen National Park have to offer. It is truly a hidden gem vacation destination. Hope you can join us again sometime!

cabin in woods?

  • 3 of 5

Cabin is lovely, clean, well stocked and nicely furnished although the location on the backside of the high school sports field leaves the "cabin in the woods" description with something to be desired. Especially after hearing the sprinklers run all evening.

Owner's Response: The cabin is located among the trees on 10 wooded acres and down a long driveway. While the high school sports field is adjacent to our property line, it is a good distance away. We feel our location has the advantage of a woodsy remote feel, while still being only a short walk to the center of town. We feel we offer the "cabin in the woods feel" and the convenience of being close to town.

Cozy Cabin in Burney

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Burney Cabin in Nov 2010 for a family reunion. It is adorable and spotless, warm and cozy! We were lucky enough to enjoy the first snow of the season! The cabin is well stocked and very comfortable for a family of 6. The only thing we were missing was a washer and dryer which would have been an added bonus. Other than that it was perfect and we will definantly will stay there next time we come to Burney! There is no other lodging that compares!

One note that isn't mention in description but was not a problem for us... the 3rd bedroom and half bath are detached from the house. A great place for teenagers : )
