Come play in the beautiful area of Dillon Beach, on the Marin County Coast. Our vacation beach home sleeps 12 in 5 bedrooms. Views are gorgeous, area is awesome! We do book far ahead, so plan and book your visit soon.
Summer is booking up fast. Book a week in 2015 for your reunion with your family in this beautiful and special place. Many of our guests return every year, booking the same week each year. Reunions, Corp. Retreats, Family and Friend time, our home is perfect for any occasion.
We first found our home that way, my in-laws gave us all a week in this very house. We all coordinated our summer vacations, spent the spring planning the fun we would have, and then all gathered for a great family week of fun! We loved it so much, we bought the house!
Every season is beautiful at the coast, fog can surround you one minute, then sun the next. You never know what to expect, even in the next 10 minutes! Beautiful views and a family friendly house - You can't believe how quiet and beautiful it can be on the California Coast.
Come vacation in Dillon Beach! Our property sits atop a mountain overlooking the beautiful whitewater of the Pacific Ocean and to the other side, Tomales Bay, famous for Hog Island Oysters. Our Dillon Beach vacation property is on a corner at the top of the hill, with both bay and ocean views. From the great room, there are nearly 360 degrees of views.
The coast is just gorgeous no matter what time of year. The weather can be warm or cool, even in the same day! Fog or clear skies, you never really know, but it's all wonderful in our California Beach vacation rental home, Almost Paradise.
A huge deck comes off the kitchen, directly connected to the dining room. The deck has incredible views of the area, a BBQ, and space for quite a few people. Off the deck is a staircase leading to the fully fenced yard, fun for kids and Fido alike. Also on the lower level is a wonderful little hideaway, our greenhouse. You can sit and getaway from it all with a cup of tea, and kids love to dig in the dirt and explore all around.
We have plenty of parking which is usually quite a problem for folks in the Oceana Marin area of Dillon Beach. We can take 4 cars in our driveway, plus one in the garage.
We sleep up to 12 in our 5 bedroom home, with 3 full bathrooms. The house is very big, with most of it being taken up by the great room. We have Dish TV, a Wi-Fi network, DVD and VHS players and movies, and a wonderful library collection of books in almost every room.
This is one of the largest, and most beautiful vacation homes Dillon Beach has to offer. We extensively renovated the home in 2000, which marks our home as very modern and updated in contrast to many Dillon Beach vacation rentals you will find. Kitchen is a chef designed cooking heaven. There is an antique chopping block, microwave/convection oven, stove and a huge over-sized fridge with side freezer.
Walk along the hilltop to the end of the street for some of the best hiking in West Marin. Or head down the hill to spend the day at one of the best beaches in Northern California - the only dog friendly beach I know of, as well as the only one I know that will allow BarBQue's and fire pits. Watch fog roll into Bodega Head from this stunning Dillon Beach vacation rental!
Head down to the beach for a BBQ, and watch lovely sunsets. Walk along looking for seashells, bird watching, and just smelling the great ocean air. Dillon Beach is a magical place, come see why!
This home is really amazing and gorgeous! It was crafted to be a retirement dream home, so the house is really a step above a lot of the available homes here. Very comfortable and family friendly, the owners have 6 young grandchildren who often enjoy the beach house. It is also very easy to have a retreat or multi-generational gathering, plenty of room for all, plus most of the main living area is very accessible for anyone with disabilities.

We first stayed at Almost Paradise as renters, in the summer of 1999. Our family had always held a family reunion at Tahoe, but that year decided on the beach. It was love at first sight! We spent a lovely week, our first visit to Dillon Beach, and by the end of the week, we had decided to buy. We were living in Santa Rosa at the time, and continued to rent it out as a vacation rental. However, after a year, we decided to make the Beach House our permanent home. We moved out to Dillon in August 2000, and began renovating and remodeling in 2001. We lived there full time until 2006, when life brought us to Orange County. We now enjoy sharing our home again and hosting families, couples and groups in what we consider to be the most beautiful place on earth! We know you will enjoy your visit.
Lori purchased this house in 1999
Dillon Beach is a magical place. Many people have come here to heal from injury, bond with their families, and enjoy the beauty of Dillon Beach's landscape. There is indeed an energy that can be felt upon arrival, and when we visited this town for the first time years ago for a family reunion, we felt it, and decided to move here.
Almost Paradise is a comfortable family home, decorated with our collections of antiques, art, quilts and books. Yet, we are perfectly set up for kids and teenagers, as well as a corporate retreat group.
We encourage you to use our collection of dishes and glassware to enjoy a beautiful dining experience. Or, you can just as easily bring paper plates and still enjoy the beauty of the home.
Relaxing on top of a mountain overlooking the Bay and the ocean is an experience in and of itself. With an incredible beach just down the hill, leisurely walks in the neighborhood, and great hiking just a block away, this house serves the needs of all who enter.
There is enough room in the house for everyone to have their own space, or gather all together in the Great Room area or the deck. We even have a crazy 'Dr. Suess' stairway down to the lower level where there are 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom and a family room.
4 little girls recently left me notes in my greenhouse:
" Dear Owner,
We like your greenhouse. Here are some flowers for you. You have a nice home. Thank you for letting us stay in it"
"Dear Owner, We picked some flowers for you. Some look like weeds, but they are not. We like your beach. We played at it today. We can go back tomorrow. We like this place"
These were adorable little notes written on toilet paper and left in the garden desk. We love it when all parts of our home are enjoyed!
My family and I took a trip to Dillon Beach and stayed at Lori's Beach House. We were blown away at the magnificant views of Tomales Bay. As a photographer, I had endless opportunities to get incredible images from the house, at the beach, or at a nearby establishment. The Dillon Beach Resort is a must visit just down the road. Get some $5 fish and chips while watching Wind Surfers at Sunset. The beauty of California's Rugged Coast is enough to entice someone to the area but to top it off the house is nice, spacious and has everything you need to have a relaxing vacation. My family spent Christmas at Lori's beach house and had a wonderful time! We love to cook and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook, bake, and enjoy our holiday meals.
There are plenty of great hiking trails nearby and the beach is wonderful - if you like to surf, there's good beach break and consistent surf.
We would definitely come back to Dillon beach and stay at Lori's beach house!
We are frequent renters in Dillon Beach, and Lori's home was wonderful. It feels actually like a HOME, not just a rental property. We came with another family of four, so we had 4 kids and a dog- and there is tons of space. The stocked kitchen is redone and the living room/dining/kitchen is great for two or three families. Situated on the top of the hill so you do need to drive to the water, but a parking pass comes with the home. EXTREMELY helpful owner... we had rented another property that was infested with bugs, so we left after one night and found this home for the remainder of our stay in Dillon. Will definitely be coming back.
We rented Lori's amazing home for a celebration at the beach for my mothers 80th Birthday. It was the perfect house for us. Other family members that were also renting homes in Dillon Beach (after a day at the beach) were all able to come over sing, enjoy cake, and the views from this amazing home. Perfect for a family gathering. We have priceless memories from our stay there. Yes not walking distance to the beach but with the beach pass and the views it was well worth it. She had everything you could possibly need to accommodate your sleeping and cooking needs. We had a great feast at the beach and relaxation back at the home.
Thank you Lori!!!
We have been coming to Dillon Beach for 11 years for our family reunion but this is our first year in Lori's beautiful beach house. The views were amazing and stretched around the whole back and side of the house. You could see ocean forever and with the early morning and late night fog, you felt like you were in the clouds! The house is really well appointed and clean and there are plenty of rooms as well as public space to accommodate a family reunion. There is a great lower level where kids can have space to play and hang out on their own with another living room upstairs for the adults to gather. Lori was very helpful and had great suggestions such as the secret beach that few know of where we had an afternoon with a beach to ourselves with an inlet safe for kids to swim in and otters and crabs to see. We have always loved Dillon Beach, and now we have a great home where we can return in the future.
Just spent a great weekend here a few weeks ago with 10 or so of my closest friends (all late-20s early-30s). We had some old friends in town from Texas, and wanted to get out of the city for a few days.
This place ended up being the perfect venue for our semi-staycation, as there were enough beds for everyone to sleep comfortably, plenty of parking in the driveway for our 5 cars, a great kitchen to prepare brunches and dinners for all, and a dining table big enough for us all to eat together while enjoying the gorgeous sunset over the ocean through the large bay windows right at the table! Some pretty dense fog was rolling in most mornings (welcome to the northern California coast), but the views of the beach were great once it burned off!
During the day we hiked down to Dillon Beach (about 15-20 minutes) where we had an entire portion all to ourselves, and in the evenings we shucked and ate fresh oysters from a local shop on the large deck looking out over the hills and the beach. There were plenty of great board games and puzzles to enjoy at night with a few bottles of wine, before heading off to the comfy beds.
All-in-all, the place was everything we were hoping for, and the owner was so nice and accommodating! I ended up leaving my girlfriend’s favorite backgammon set that we had brought up behind, but the owner go me out of hot water by mailing it to us within a week… Who could ask for better!? Definitely recommend this house for any similar group of friends looking for a getaway, but would also be great for a large family. We will be coming back to Dillon Beach for sure!
Dillon Beach is a beautiful Dog Friendly Beach, and no leashes are needed at water's edge. You can have fires on the beach which is not allowed elsewhere. There are great rocks to climb at the shoreline, and tide pools to explore as well. We provide a free beach pass for our renter's use. Have fun exploring the bay with a visit to Lawson's Landing. There is an entrance fee. Fish or crab from the pier, or dig for clams.
World famous wineries are not far, just over 30 minutes will take you into Sebastopol and loads of small, fun wineries along the Gravenstien Highway. Bodega Bay is a beautiful drive along the Bodega Highway, where you can explore the marina, or golf at a world famous championship course.
Investigate the charming town of Petaluma, where you can go antiquing, shop at interesting shops, and find a great place to dine. A fun drive is along the Tomales Bay Road, down to the quaint town of Pt Reyes Station. Not far from there is the lighthouse, and places where you can pull over to the side of the road to see the Sea Lions bathing on the rocks.
The small town of Tomales has a great restaurant, The William Tell, and without a doubt the world's best bakery. Buy local cheeses at Diekman's Store. There are two old churches in town, the Catholic Church overlooks Highway 1, and the Presbyterian is just up the road.
