Owner Jeannine J. is a life-long Alaskan with a love for Hope, Alaska. Jeannine describes Hope as 'a magical place' where everyday life seems distant and calm.
Jeannine purchased this cabin in 2008
Hope is a unique and unhurried town featuring a historic district which looks and feels like the gold mining town Hope was in the 1800s. Residents and visitors can hike the mountains or fish the nearby streams, Wander through the historical museum and original log cabins, peer in the 100+ year old social hall, sip an Alaskan brew at the 100 year old pub at the shore of Turnigan Arm. The views are lovely, the mountains spectacular, and the Alaskans who live here are grand.

Great cozy cabin to stay in Hope. The cabin is extremely clean, and Jeannine is very friendly and responsive to e-mails and texts. Tasty breakfast is provided -- bagels, orange juice, milk, cream cheese, and more. In unit washer / drier was great as well. Please don't hesistate to book -- recommended and would stay at again in a heart-beat. Thanks Jeannine!
Jeanine was wonderful answering the million questions I had. Lynn was hospitable and friendly. The property was amazing. The cabin was cute and cozy. Everything you need is right in the cabin. The amenities you get is above and beyond what you pay for. We will definitely be repeat customers.
We planned our weekend getaway in May and a couple weeks before hand had to make some last minute changes. Lisa was really understanding and allowed us to make the changes we needed in order to come out and stay. We only stayed for one night but it was a fantastic experience, we recently had a baby so I spent most of my time inside the cabin with him while my husband and daughter went fishing. There were a couple of poles at the cabin for them to use and my daughter (who is 10 years old) caught her first two fish! It is hard to understand just how roomy the cabin in by looking at the pictures, it is a very good size. Nice size kitchen with an eating area, a tv with movies and dvd's in the living and two couches (which we wound up falling asleep on). The upstairs is wonderful and has an old charm to it, with three bedrooms and trees to look at out of each window it was very peaceful. I spent a lot of time holding the baby and watching the leaves on the trees blow in the wind... really it was just what I needed to get out of Anchorage and just rest. We ate at the cafe up the road and they had wonderful food, I especially enjoyed their breakfast menu. Saturday we walked around town, went to the Hope museum and then made our way back to Anchorage. Did I mention that we were able to bring our dog along? This was one of the main reason's why I booked this B&B, because our dog is like our family and we didn't want to have to kennel him to go out of town. The cabin was stocked with breakfast items, towels, soaps, washer and dryer... more than you recieve from most places. I also loved the old stove that was set up in the kitchen area. We really couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, we will definitely make our way back up and recommend it to our family and friends.
We had the pleasure of staying in the Alaskan ByWays cabin this weekend with our family. It was a wonderful stay. Everything was as described in the listing here. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had all of the comforts of home - with an added charm of the rustic exterior and wooded setting. Our family had a chance to fish and hike in the area and Lisa was kind enough to recommend restaurants that suited our family's preferences. We had a wonderful weekend with our kids, in a beautiful setting. We'll definitely return to the cabin in the future and recommend LIsa & Skip's Alaskan Byways to visiting friends and relatives, as well as locals here in the area.
Lisa and Skip had everything you'd want (down to cookie mix) and everything you'd need for a stay in Alaska. We had just come from camping, and there was a washer and drier available for our use (not even a fee for it!), new and nice cooking ware, very comfy beds, games, and just an overall amazingly friendly atmosphere. I will be bringing all my family to this spot when they visit, and try to steal away with the BF for a fishing weekend. They even have a chest freezer to use for those of us who fish.
All of this was topped off with the stories the two shared and incredible kindness and appreciation Skip and Lisa have for their visitors. Wonderful place. Highly recommended.
