Our home is nestled among 50-60 huge trees on 3-4 acres of private land. As you enjoy your coffee in the morning on the monstrous 20 by 25 deck sitting enjoying the lake and all the wildlife you'll know you arrived. Unlike so many lake homes that have no privacy and your neighbors are just feet away you'll find you can't see our neighbors just the beauty of Lake James! Large home, over 2300 sq feet, 2 screened in decks for the evenings and all the yard you could want for sun bathing, volleyball, grass sledding or just relaxing in the many seating areas across the property. Other ideas and guest favorites:

- Bring your boat and fishing gear. Skiing, tubing and sunbathing are all available during your stay. Make sure you swing by the the lake's sandbar and grab lunch from the floating aqua grill.

- 4-5 miles of biking

-1200 Acre Pokagon State Park. Enjoy the huge lodge on Lake James, Potawatomi Inn. 10 miles of hiking trails,

horseback riding, winter activities!

-June on Lake James has Fort Wayne's Philharmonic playing a Pop's concert from Pokagon Beach while you listen from your boat! Take a tour of Satek Winery or Buffalo ranch.

-July- Lake James Fireworks and Family boat flotilla! Bring your boat and enter the parade of 40-50 boats.

-All summer enjoy Lake James Yacht Club racing series. All races start at 10:00am on First basin. Race MC Scow, M-20 Scows. Use the link above to get more details.

- The Fall brings the colors and some of the best boating and canoeing James has to offer. Very quiet sunny days and cozy fires at night.

-Enjoy Pokagon all year long. 1200 acres, 10 miles of hiking and bike trails wind through the park. Winter only speeds up the fun, enjoy speeds of 35mph on the frozen toboggan track and cross country skiing. Of course snowmobiling is perfect when we get snow!

Northern Indiana has over 100 lakes for the boating, fishing, skiing enthusiast. Lake James is Indiana's 2nd largest fresh water lake, with over 1300 acres of water. The lake is connected to 4 other lakes all accessible by boat for additional exploring. While you're on the lake stop by the two marina's for fuel, ice and other boating items. Later in the day enjoy any of the four restaurants on the lake you can boat to and eat! For the fishermen in your group stop by Bledsoe's for all your fishing supplies, fuel, food, misc live bait!! Ask them for a map of the lake and they will help to show you the hot spots to fish. We are very lucky to have a state park located on the Lake James. Pokagon is a huge park with horseback riding, hiking, biking trails. The lodge is a must see as you take a step back into the past and have breakfast, lunch or dinner in the Inn. Check out Satec Winery 4 miles, a buffalo preserve 3m, outlet malls 5 miles, & Yogi's waterslide plus.

Other Activities: Satek Winery, water slide, eat at the sandbar on 1st basin- burger boat floats next to 300+ boats soaking in the sun! See last page for event list.

  • Note: Upstairs bedroom 3 has additional twin beds for children while still providing privacy for adults sleeping in the queen bed. These separate sleeping areas can accomodate adults being a twin bed but we have tried to set it up so children would enjoy as well. We are planning on having a tv and game system in this extra sleeping area by summer. These beds have a sliding door so adults reading or going to bed later won't wake the children.

Notes: We would like a full time renter for the entire house or just the upstairs apartment. Would consider renting the home for 1-9 months. Ask us!! Why live in Angola when you wake up every morning on the lake! Just 45-50 minutes from Ft. Wayne, very easy drive.

I was very disappointed in my family's stay here, the owner was not very professional by being so apologetic for not getting our security deposit back within 14 days as was agreed in the contract, 35 days to be exact. The deck was unsafe as someone fell through a previous repair, followed by more apologies from owner. Friday night should have been peaceful, except owner was there mowing the grass!! I would not recommend this place. Thanks for reading.
Owner's Response: While we try to make every guest's stay a wonderful experience, we are sad to say that this one had an unfortunate incident that tarnished their visit. We responded to the deck problem immediately, and bought lunch for them as a goodwill offering for their inconvenience.

Perfect Family Getaway Destination!

Our family of six had a great time at this lovely home and cannot wait to return this winter! Upon arrival we were delighted by the rustic-meets-modern accommodations. There was more than enough room for us and we hope to bring along our extended family since we now know how large this home is. The house is nestled at the end of a winding road and although it is on a large piece of land, it still seems cozy. The kids loved the proximity to the water and large yard to play in. We enjoyed hiking Pokagon State Park, which is minutes away, and spending hours on the deck enjoying the fantastic views. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating from the point of securing a reservation to well after our visit. We cannot say enough about this lovely destination.

This lake home was beautiful the view was wonderful looking at the lake. Beach was nice for children to play in sand and wade in water. Teenagers enjoyed swimming in lake to raft and diving off. Many nights were spent sitting on back porch talking and enjoying sunsets.

House was beautiful but needs drapes in master bedroom as sun woke us up to early also in one upper bedroom. The fishing was alright could of caught more but weather was very hot.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

we had a wonderful time. Great time enjoying outdoors, kids loved the beach, we rented a boat and fished everyday. We also had fun with the dollar game. Kids said best vacation ever! They also loved the cubby hole beds upstairs. Just wish there were curtains on the windows.
