Om Orchard was a wonderful place to have our honeymoon (which was 17 1/2 years in the making). We appreciated the tranquility and privacy of the property as well as the amazing beauty of the land, trees, and flowers. What fun to walk out of the front door in the morning to pick an orange or two straight from the tree for breakfast!

We found this to be an ideal area for us, with Kilauea just a couple miles down the road. Kilauea has some good restaurants (check out the Fish Market & the Bakery for bagels in the morning) and a weekly Sunshine Market. Good access to Northshore & East shore shopping & beaches. Two other restaurant recommendations: Princeville (behind the Ace Hardware) has a great, reasonably priced Thai restaurant; at the Hanalei Colony Resort is an expensive (but awesome atmosphere & food) Middle Eastern restaurant called Mediterranean Gourmet.

The rental experience was very smooth and straightforward. Property as listed, clean and well-maintained. Owners Tsajon and Kamalia were gracious hosts, with good recommendations, and one day even checked the cottage for us to locate a backpack with wallet we discovered we were missing when we reached Wiamea Canyon.

A great experience-we loved every minute. Can't wait to return.

Beautiful and Excellent Location

The property is located about 2 miles from the town of Kilauea and 1.5 miles from the nearest beach. It is a secluded spot and is very private. It is not only well-equipped but nicely equipped, with quality towels, dishes, etc. There are many interesting pieces of art and some of the furnishings are beautiful. For those on a self-catering holiday, there are two burners and a small propane barbecue grill. The fridge is small, so do not arrive with large amounts of food. The beds are comfortable and with the ceiling fans the cottage stays cool at night. The outdoor shower is amazing. A great way to wake up.

The property is in a semi-rural setting so you should expect to see a few "critters" but the sounds at night and those of the birds in the morning are incredible.

This is the literally the best spot on Kaua'i as it offers good access to the rest of the North Shore while still being fairly close to Kapaa and Lihue for provisions. Foodland in Princeville is good as is Safeway in Kapaa. The closest store is the Healthy Hut but their prices border on the outrageous. There are also numerous restaurants in the area including several in Kilauea. Check out the Fish Market. For a drink or a meal after 10 pm, Hanalei is the only choice. Secrets beach, IMO, the best beach on the North Shore, is just a 5-10 minute drive (and then a 5-10 minute hike, careful, it can be slippery).

Remember to always take a flashlight (torch) with you just in case you arrive back after dark. The hosts are very pleasant and not at all intrusive. This was an excellent find and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Best for couples or a family with perhaps one or two older children.

A respite of tranquility

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in October of 2010. The cottage is quiet and relaxing, close enough to activity and far enough away for quiet and serenity. The sense of peace is comforting. Waking up to the birds, lush vegetation and sunshine was outstanding. We loved it immensely. The owners were friendly but allowed privacy. The outdoor lanai and grotto shower amazing.
Oh, and while you're there, get a private massage with Bernardo--the owner will give you his number!

A Little slice of Heaven

My husband and I are from Waikiki, Hawaii, and recently celebrated our 1 year anniversary. A week prior to our stay, were frantically searching for a cottage that was serene, tucked away, and very private. We definitely found it at The Om Orchard Cottage. It wasn't too far away from the other towns such as Princeville, and Hanalei-which was perfect. The cottage shared a large lot with the owners, but we hardly saw them. They have 4 dogs, which I wasn't expecting, but they were quite delightful. Once in awhile they would come down and visit, but not enough. I kind of miss them. The outdoor shower was absolute bliss. Imagine taking a shower under a little waterfall with birds chirping about. Nice! I guess the only complaint we had was that it was a little musty when we arrived. It didn't really seem that they prepared the place for our arrival,which was fine. We made do. The beautiful gardens, peacefulness, friendliness of the owners, and the dogs made up for it. Thanks Kamalia and Tsajon!
