Located in a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains. The back yard is private and fenced. A 24' above ground pool is off the back deck. (open in summer only) There's a large tent on one of the decks with two large round tables and stack chairs. A BBQ grill is available for the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons only. A fire pit is in the back yard.
We just purchased a new hot tub and enclosed it on the back deck, very private, holds up to six adults but probably more comfortable with four or five.
There are many activities to enjoy in the area, hiking, river tubing, snow tubing, golf, miniature golf, horseback riding, fishing, swimming, lakes, boating, theaters, festivals, skiing, and more.

Hello, Let us begin with telling you a little bit about ourselves. John is Canadian, a naturalized citizen of the U.S., I was born and raised in MA. We ended up in NY when John took a logging job in Hunter. He started logging in Canada at 15 and has impressed many with his ability to land a tree within inches of it's mark. I'm retired from the Postal Service and was Postmaster of our small town Post Office for many years. John is also retired and became quite the carpenter after putting his logging days behind him. We now live between NY & MA.
Sandy or John D'Amours purchased this house in 1977
We bought this house because of it's location and the beautiful mountains. It's close to Hunter, Tannersville, Phoenicia, Woodstock, so many activities close by but still country. We made friends, joined several clubs, had, and went, to many great parties. There's always something going on in the area.
Our home was small when we purchased it but once John took up carpentry it grew and grew. We love parties, so John built a large addition, cathedral ceiling, large windows, pool table, full bar, shuffleboard, such a fun room. Then he added a large living room, gas fireplace, sliding doors leading to the swimming pool, more windows, a lovely, relaxing room. Of course we needed another bedroom upstairs and he added a balcony off that. There's a cozy florida room off the living room. Decks around 3/4 of the house, two decks out back, a fenced yard, privacy, we love it. Instead of selling after retirement we decided to try a new venture with our home, vacation rental.
What a wonderful trip. Sandy was incredible from start to finish. She was very kind and patient when answering all my questions. She had quick responses and was always available when needed. The house was amazing. So much space, activities and extremely clean. Pool table, shuffle board and hot tub! What more do you need?? Notes were all over the house to help us with anything. It was only 10 minutes away from hunter so that was great. My friends and I had an amazing time and can't stop talking about! I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a nice fun filled weekend trip! Thank you for the 100th time Sandy!!
I stayed at this house for a 4 day ski trip with my wife and 4 other couples. The house is conveniently located about 10 minutes from hunter mountain. It is about 10 minutes from the town of Phoenicia which has a couple of good restaurants to eat at. The house itself was great. It is very spacious and very clean (made the wives happy). It fit all of us without a problem. It has plenty of kitchen supplies and linens. You really only need to bring food and drinks. They even provide a jar of freshly ground coffee!! The house has a bar, pool table, pellet stove, large flat screen tv, wifi and a hot tub.... all functioning fine. It was perfect for spending a weekend with friends, we only left the house to ski, we spent the evenings in the house. You can tell that Sandy and John spend a lot of time making it guest friendly. There are lots of notes scattered around the house with how to work things and where to find things. I would definitely go back to this house!!!
I recently stayed here for a 3 day weekend with 10 other friends and one bulldog named Ginger. The house is in a great location, close to Hunter Mountain and the local town. The house itself has so many amenities, our group really enjoyed the hot tub, pool table, bar, and all of the games that were provided. Ginger most enjoyed the huge fenced in backyard, she ran for hours since she is mostly used to city living!
Our only disappointment was the karaoke machine. We were expecting something slightly more modern (machine consisted of a few cassettes with older country songs on them, with no screen to read lyrics from), but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless.
Sandy was prompt with returning the security deposit, and the house has tons of information regarding what the rules are and where to find things. Overall everyone was very pleased and would love to stay here again.
We have been coming to the Catskills for 35 years and are well aware of the wonderful things this area has to offer. We rented this home for 4 nights to attend a music event at Hunter Mountain (5 adults). The house was more than we expected; the spacious home was secluded, yet only a 10 minute drive to Hunter. The owners, Sandy and John, made sure everything we needed was available and their positive energy was felt throughout their home! We had one rainy day which was no problem; we made use of the fun game room, and bar-b-qued under the large tarp on the back deck. One morning, we took advantage of the above ground pool, and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds as we ate breakfast outdoors. All in all, it was an awesome experience and I would highly recommend this vacation home during any season!
This house had everything anyone could ever want and more. If you're skiing in Hunter, it's only a 10 minute drive to the mountain. The house is super spacious with lots of rooms and places to hang out. Our favorite by far was the game room with a pool table, KARAOKE MACHINE, bar and fireplace. We spent the entire weekend in that room. The portable hot tubs were interesting. They didn't quite stay hot enough and they don't really comfortably fit 4 people each but they're fun. The directions left by the owners were super helpful and clear, I would absolutely come back when I need a respite from the city. Great price for the value too.
All of the other ratings of this house are pretty spot on. Rather than echo all of the great features (pool table, shuffleboard, flat screen, pellet stove, spas, bar, etc...) that everyone else has touched on I wanted to share our good experience in dealing with Sandy and John.
First, we starting booking our trip a little late (only about two weeks before arrival) and Sandy was very helpful in working with us in order to get our payments and security deposit to her. She was very understanding, easy to deal with, easy to reach, and quick to respond. Everything was exactly as described on the listing, and as others have described in their reviews. Its a few minutes away from the mountain, but it is nice and secluded and gives you a great feeling of "being away" rather than staying right in town, and it's still very easy to get to.
The spas are great for relaxing after a day of skiing, but unfortunately my wife slipped and fell while getting out of one and accidentally broke a small plastic piece on the spa pump. We drove around trying to find a replacement part and ended up trying to fix it, but were unsuccessful. We felt awful and of course we were very nervous to tell Sandy and John after they were already been so helpful. Long story short, once we told them, they were much more concerned that we were not hurt, and they seemed to be even more concerned that we had spent time trying to fix it rather than skiing! My wife and I were very grateful that they were so nice and understanding.
Basically, I would definitely recommend this property and the owners to any of my friends or family, and I would happily stay there again (if they would let me of course!). They did a really great job of making you feel welcome in their home.
Lovely contemporary with beautiful surroundings, conveniently located 6 miles from miniature golf, horseback riding, Hunter Mountain Ski Slope, theaters, tubing the Esopus, and 7 miles from a golf course. We're approximately 19 miles from Windham Mountain and the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center. Woodstock is a twenty five minute drive to art centers, quaint shops, restaurants for casual and fine dining are located throughout the area. Hiking trails are a short distance in any direction.
Other Activities: Theaters, art centers, train rides
Golf: There's a miniature golf course on the same road our home is located on. A couple of miles further is a golf course, and a few miles from that one is a golf club.
