Having lived in some rather beautiful parts of the U.S. I have to say, I have been blessed. Tiburon, Calif. and Boston, Mass. and Westchester County, N.Y. to name a few. I am enjoying living on Amelia Island, where my family can visit, and, grandchildren will have wonderful memories of days with Mimi at Amelia! We love it here.
The townhome feel of the club villa lives like a home, and not just a get-away-for-the-weekend kind of place. I renovated the villa when I purchased it. I love the light, bright interior, and the location. The birds calling are the only alarm clock I need. The pool is steps from my front door, and only a few of us ever swim!!! I have taken pride in ownership, and my thrill is to provide my guests with lovely accommodations. just the way I like it. My kitchen certainly is just as nice as I could imagine. I want my guests to be comfortable and to have everything they need. It has been fun for me to meet people from everywhere. Families are sure to find my boogie boards, beach towels, and clean sand toys, a bit of 'a surprise'! Did I mention beach chairs?
The Marsh Side of the resort is quiet. I think the club villa is just the right size. I renovated the villa and I love the all white kitchen. The back yard is so private, and the palm trees and magnolia trees thrill me. I like the two story, and each bedroom has a full bath and a balcony, and they are separated by a long hall. The master bedroom is 13x15, and that has a vaulted ceiling. The half bath down is nice, as with any residence, and the utility room is out of the way of the living area. The courtyard is private, and it is nice to be able to leave your bicycle and sand toys there. The fact that the swimming pool is so beautifully landscaped, and roses climb the gate...well, it is all very inviting.
You are in the midst of a nature preserve here on Amelia Island Plantation. Egrets stroll on the golf course, and turtles sometimes are found not only on the beach! I have lots of photos of an Eagle Nest nearby. The bicycle trails will afford the view of all this incredible feast of Nature. Kids love the nature center, and adults love to kayak here. In the town of Fernandina, the boat leaves for Cumberland Island. My grandchildren enjoy seeing dolphins follow the boat, on our way to Cumberland where we see lots of wild ponies. We enjoy finding beautiful seashells, and they love the tree house at Drummond Point. Walkers Landing has picnic tables under the live oak trees. The moss sways to and fro, and we watch the magnificent sunsets after our picnic. Horseback riding on the beach is fun. There are several opportunities for that. Seasons on the Island are noted by the flora and fauna, as well as the marsh tides! Take time to smell the oleander! The magnolias are spectacular, and, of course the live oaks and palm trees. Little Talbot is a state park, and Ft. Clinch is also worth seeing. The lighthouse is in town. The town is Fernandina Beach, just at the other end of this island. The architectural interest of the oldest part of Fernandina is also an attraction. We have many beautiful Churches and a very historic downtown, and, at Christmas we offer a bed and breakfast tour. From one end of the island to the other, you will need to take 20 minutes to drive along the ocean! A mini golf course is a new attraction here on The Plantation. Also, every Friday nite we have the boardwalk bash, at the spa and shops. Fish fry or hamburgers are offered at The Marshe Burette, and there are always many families enjoying dining on the porch of The Marshe. Did I mention the bike trails everywhere? Often people travel by golf cart while here. If you only wish to head for the beach or stay on The Plantation, that will suite you just fine. The resort is beautiful, and the Island has some wonderful restaurants and shops. The beaches and swimming pools are never crowded...and, that is a promise! Come, and see for yourself! You will return again and again. That is for sure.
