This is very much a family affair and this home is a labor of love. After a friend sold it to us in 2005, this house has been a side project and has been improved from the ground up. Everything in this house was done by family from the floors, decoration & complete creation of the concrete deck, driveway etc. This home is very close to our heart. We want other people to enjoy it as much as we have!
Sarah purchased this cottage in 2005

We just wanted to thank you for renting us your amazing cottage! The views are unbelievable! It was so nice to come home to this lovely cottage at the end of a day dancing. We had an amazing time doing the fringe and hope to come back next year. We were even on your channel 10 news:
Thank you again for everything :)
Our trip was a quick stop in Rochester and we were really pleased to be able to get such a cool place place to stay with short notice. They were nice enough to let us book last minute and we appreciate that. We were here for work, but during the off-times, had a good time relaxing. The weather was a little mild, so we used the firepit a lot. Its a quiet neigborhood, and the view is beyond words. We did get to catch a sunrise one morning too. We liked the cottage and thanks for letting us stay.
A very clean and well maintained cottage. Sarah the owner of the property went that extra mile to satisfy our needs. The view from the deck was fabulous. Highly recommend this property.
The view from the deck was breath taking. Clean and well maintained cottage and the service from mamagement was A+.Enjoyed the whole weekend. Will definitely return and well recommended.
My family and I had a great time at this place, the deck is really the jewel of the whole place. It's massive and fenced so it's safe for after you have a few too many drinks or the kids are running around. We had a great time kayaking, roasting s'mores, the kids biked along the ponds across the street and the neighborhood is quiet and friendly. BBQing by the lake is a great experience and the house was great for our needs. It's a cottage not a five star resort but the pictures speak for themselves for the most part. I guess the only complaint I had was to add another garbage bin since it piles up fast but when I mentioned it the owners brought one out. Will definitely come back next year or for some ice fishing with the guys in the winter.
The house is a lovely house in a great location. It is adorable from the outside. The inside needs some minor work and upgrades. I would say the biggest problem we experienced was the cleanliness of the cottage. The bathtub was dirty. It clearly did not appear to have been cleaned before our arrival. The bathroom rugs also did not look to be freshly laundered and the white towels were obviously washed but they had stains. The house in general was not cleaned properly. All the floors were dirty. We swept and dust mopped on Friday (arrived on Wednesday evening), and there was plenty of dust and dirt to indicate that they had not been cleaned, or had only been cleaned quickly. The kitchen floor was dirty. This was seriously unsettling as I paid an additional $69 for a cleaning fee. I’m positive we left the house cleaner than when we entered it. The kitchen was inadequately stocked. It is advertised as “An oasis for a family vacation, reunion, or graduation party”, yet we were a family of 4 adults and would have had difficulty cooking. The pots and pans are a mix and match of odd sizes. There were no baking pans or measuring spoons. At 60, I have no problem getting around, but the stairs were scary. I would recommend that the stair problem is made known to renters before their arrival. The only place it was mentioned was in the 3 ring binder you have in the house. Clearly it was recognized as a potential problem. The upstairs is in need of a paint job. The stairway looks terrible. The “French provincial” bed was so uncomfortable I had to pull the futon mattress off the futon and put it on top of the bed in order to sleep in any comfort. It was nothing more than a futon itself. No box spring and only inches thick. I was told the bed in the “master” bedroom was better. The “yoga room” had NO electric outlets. As it had no AC, this made it unbearable when it got hot on our last night. Communication with the landlord was also a problem. It took several attempts each time we needed contact in order to get a response. This was disconcerting as we live far away. She also did not accept a credit card as advertised on the website. HomeAway recommends that a credit card be used but only checks were accepted. The location of the house was great. Parking was good and the couch was very comfortable! The quiet was wonderful. Perhaps these suggestions can be utilized and make this a great place to rent.
I would like to comment on the outstanding support I received from the management and owner of this rental property. They went far and above any expectations I had with satisfying all my requests, and I cannot emphasize enough the tremendous support I received. A special thank you to Sara who was most professional and friendly in helping me. She is the best I have ever experienced.
Every year, thousands of tourists come to Rochester for the Lilac Festival in May. We also have numerous other local festivals including the Harbor fest, right at Ontario Lake Beach 5 minutes down the road from the cottage.
Fall has Apple Picking nearby and is a great time to enjoy a Romantic Getaway before winter. If you enjoy Cold weather activities, Ice Fishing and Ice Skating happen at the Lake, weather permitting. So there is always a lot going on in this area.
