This brightly-lit and remodeled 2-1 house is on a quiet, tree-filled street in the popular Cherrywood neighborhood. It's filled with photography and decor from Brazil, Mexico and Central America. The floors are red oak hardwood throughout the living areas and bedrooms, and ceramic tile in kitchen and bathroom. Colorful authentic Mexican tiles are used in the kitchen and bathroom. There is an oversized master bedroom and a guest room. Full kitchen with Keurig coffeemaker, dishwasher, washer and dryer. The large front yard is landscaped with native plants and crushed granite paths.

From this home base you will have easy access to best of East and Central Austin. It is one mile from UT, and blocks from restaurants, cafes, bars, theaters, and a new package-free grocery store on Manor Rd. The Mueller hike and bike trails, pond and pool are just across Airport Blvd.

This location is ideal for football weekends and visitors to The University of Texas' LBJ School of Public Affairs, Schools of Law, Engineering and Architecture. Departments should inquire about direct billing.

Public transportation options include the 22 Chicon Capital Metro bus (two blocks away on Cherrywood Ave.) and the East Campus UT shuttle (5 blocks away) which offers a 12 minute bus ride to the heart of campus.

About Jennifer Potter-Miller

I moved to Austin with my family when I was in high school, left for college in Minnesota, a year in Brazil, and work in Los Angeles before coming back to put down roots in Texas. This house was my home for 10 years, and when our family grew we loved the neighborhood too much to go farther than a few blocks away!

Why Jennifer Potter-Miller chose Austin

When I moved back to Austin I knew I wanted to live in a central neighborhood with interesting neighbors and fun things to do close by. Cherrywood fit the bill, and has only gotten better in the last several years with new restaurants opening and the unique new In.gredients grocery store around the corner. It's the first zero waste packaging-free store in the country, and of course it's in Austin!

This house is within a 20 minute walk, 10 minute bike ride, or 10 minute bus ride to the UT campus and nearby hospitals. It's also blocks from I-35, which means downtown is minutes away and you can get anywhere quickly.

The house is a comfortable retreat from work or whatever adventures bring you to Austin. It's on a quiet street filled with mellow neighbors and towering trees. The living area is filled with natural light, and there are sitting areas in the front and back yards.

Really, the best!

This really is, hands down, the most comfortable and convenient rental property we've experienced in Austin -- and we've rented several. It is in an absolutely amazing location (Cherrywood is really wonderful, and it is so very close to everything!), and the house is cute and comfortable. We actually did a long-term rental here for about 5 months while I was working in Austin, and we have since been back to enjoy a weekend get-away. My preference is definitely to stay here anytime that I can when I come to Austin for work or for play. The fenced in back yard is incredibly convenient for our pup as well -- which is very helpful that my husband and I can bring her with us. Plus, there are these really amazing hammocks that can hang in the front and you can look at this stars - which is incredibly relaxing. Really, I can't say enough about this home -- I do love it so (I just feel bad that it took me searching to see if it was available for a coming weekend to remind me to write this review!).

Cute, cozy house in hip neighborhood close to UT

This house is fantastic! My husband had business at UT and he walked every day, stopping at several different places to sample their breakfast burritos. I had our three small children during the day and we had lots of fun outings in Austin. The house was great for us since it had a crib and glider rocker in the master bedroom already and the 2nd bedroom right next door for our toddlers. Jennifer was a fantastic hostess, going above and beyond to provide a baby gate, toys, and books, not to mention suggestions for babysitters and kid-friendly activities. The fenced in back yard was great and the neighborhood was fabulous for walks. LOVED staying here. There were some mixups with checking in and checking out times that were inconvenient, which is the only reason I didn't give the property a full 5 stars. Jennifer did her best to accommodate us, but it did make things a little chaotic.

Great House, Great location!

We came in from England for our Grandson's baptism and had such a great 10 days staying here. There were 4 of us and plenty of room. The house is lovely and so comfortable (a home away from home). It's
in a great location. There are lots of places to eat and bars nearby. It was just perfect for us as it was only a 10 minute walk away from my sons house. Thank you we'll be back again next time we visit.

enjoyed our stay

This a great location to stay if you are in town for business and want to avoid the downtown scene but be in the city. The house is tucked in quiet neighborhood just the other side of I35 from the university. The house is well represented from the listing and had everything you would expect to find at a rental vacation home. I choose this house because it has a grassy, enclosed back yard for my dog to enjoy. The chain link fence is sturdy and has no gaps. My dog even enjoyed visiting with the neighbors' dogs. The area is low traffic and safe for evening dog walks. There is a very small park just 2 walking minutes away. About 5 walking minutes away is Cherrywood Coffeehouse which serves outstanding food and drinks. The property owner was very professional and helpful!

Wonderful

Never staying in a hotel again. Whole family including the dog enjoyed this home. Jennifer the owner was very detailed minded by even providing shopping sacks (Austin doesn't do plastic bags anymore FYI). Looking forward to move family trips here.

Excellent stay

We came in from Florida for my daughter's wedding in downtown Austin. This place made our travel was such a pleasure ~my two teenagers even raved about how nice this place is and how they liked it much better than a hotel. The house is very Austin-esque. I loved the eclectic decor and the location to downtown and great places to eat was absolutely perfect. When we visit again, we'll be right back here! Thank you, Jennifer, for such a pleasant experience.
