SPACIOUS IN ROMA!

  • 4 of 5
First off, Nico and Rosie are great owners. Very responsive and easy to work with. Me, my wife, and our 4 year old son went on a 3 month Europe trip and 2 weeks were dedicated to Rome and this wonderful apartment. Now that we're back, we are apartment experts...at least I feel like we are. We stayed in 12 different ones during the trip so hopefully our reviews will be helpful with the perspective of comparing with so many others.

This was our largest, and most expensive, stay of the trip. In terms of price, it's hard to gauge if it is fairly priced. Maybe a bit high, in our opinion. But it is very spacious, clean, and in a great part of the city. We were very close to the Vatican and a nearby park in the motes of a castle (what!) for our 4 year old, Campo Di Fiore and Piazza Novana a quick 10 min walk. And everything else was walking distance, including the other side of town at the Spanish Steps. We basically walked to all the sites, even the Colosseum and it wasn't that bad. Travestere was a great stop too and the walk along the Tiber is peaceful from the apartment. For the train station, we took the bus -- the stop is literally a 2 minute walk away.

I think the only downfalls of the apartment, hence the 4 stars, are the bathrooms and the lack of laundry machine. The bathroom downstairs is pretty dingy and very...blue. Very blue. The upstairs bathroom, while decent, just never felt totally clean. There is no shower curtain but a half a glass door which is impossible to avoid spraying the floor. Trust me, we tried every angle. The other con was no washer in the apartment. Not having a washing machine for 2 weeks was brutal and going to the laundromat can kill up to half a day on vacation, never fun.

The rest of the house is great, great sized bedrooms, air conditioning works great, great windows, awesome balcony that makes you feel like you're in the center of Rome, the kitchen is very large for an apartment in the city and the living room was our favorite. Lot of seating and one of the comfiest couches of all time.

Great location, great apartment, great owners -- hopefully they spend some of their rental income to upgrade those bathrooms and install a washer. If they do, it's the perfect apartment in Rome.

BEAUTIFUL APARTMENT IN GREAT LOCATION!!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful 3 day stay in October at this apartment. My husband, my teenage daughter and I thought the apartment was clean, well maintained and perfectly situated in the very centre of old Rome, close to all major museums. Castello Sant Angello, St. Peter's, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona are within easy walking distance. Although central, the apartment is in a quiet street. Nearby are lots of restaurants, grocery stores and private little shops.
Nicola and Rosalyn speak English and are very accomodating. A great place to stay.

FABULOUS PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed here for 6 weeks in October/November 2011. In addition to myself and my wife we have two kids (ages 2 and 4). This proved to be a fabulous place to stay. The description and pictures here are quite representative of the place, its outstanding condition, and its close proximity to everything. It is very clean, spacious (especially for Rome) and quiet. It is also close to whatever you may need (bus stops, cafes, grocery stores, parks, etc.). It is 50 steps from street level to the main floor of the place but we (including our two kids) did not find the stairs a problem. The owners are fantastic, speak great English, and were extremely responsive and accommodating - even found us a couple of babysitters and directed me to a place to buy tickets to the Roma v. Lazio soccer match. They are super-helpful and friendly.

A sampling of other things we enjoyed about this place include:

(1) Bar Giulia is just around the corner - perhaps 30 meters - and is a great local place for a cappuccino any time of day, The owners got to know our kids (and us) and always had a pastry waiting for the kids. They're big Lazio fans.

(2) Piazza Adriana (park situated in the former moat of Castel Sant'Angelo) is a 5 minute walk away. Best place in all of Rome for kids to play while you relax for a moment. Went here many evenings.

(3) Janiculum Hill begins right across the Tiber and has great views of Rome on your 30-minute walk up to the top.

(4) Enotecca il Goccetto (Via dei Banchi Vecchi 14) is a 5 minute walk away and serves the locals with generous pours and reasonably priced great wine. Cheese plates are phenomenal.

(5) Piazza Navona is a 10 minute walk away (okay, 15 minutes with kids) and a good place for an early evening stroll.

(6) The 116 bus begins its route about 30 meters from our front door on Via Giulia (across from Bar Giulia) and takes you right by or through many Roman icons (Campo dei Fiori, PIazza Navona, Pantheon, Caffe Sant'Eustachio, Piazza Colonna, Via Veneto, Villa Borghese). It's a cute miniature electric bus that navigates the tiny renaissance streets of Rome.

In sum, a great place to stay - spacious, great condition, great location and fabulous owners. I'd stay here again for sure.

GREAT APARTMENT!!!!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I came to Rome for two weeks from the end of February into March, and this apartment was absolutely wonderful. The location was superb- within easy walking distance of all the major sights: St. Peter's Square, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, etc. It's also very close to several main bus lines that are easy to use and can get you anywhere you need to go. But you could easily get everything you need by walking- there are several restaurants, grocery stores and little shops nearby.

The house itself was very spacious, with lots of light and more than enough space for my husband, our two children and me. There's also a kitchen stocked with anything you could ever need if you decide to do some cooking.

The entire process of renting this apartment was extremely smooth- they were very accomodating and happy to answer all of our questions.

Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while we explored Rome!!!!

LOCATION, LOCATION - GREAT SPOT & CLEAN!

Location, Location - Great spot & clean!
  • 4 of 5
We travelled to Rome mid October with another couple. We stayed for 4 nights. The apartment was very well appointed. Very clean, and comfortable. The owner was very pleasant to deal with. They were doing renovations in the stairlway, the building is very old, but it did not disturb us at all. There are many stairs to climb, almost 60 to get to the main floor, not ideal for seniors or young children. We did not mind at all, we needed the exercise to work off all the pasta and great wine we consumed. We would definitely stay in this apartment again.
Thank you Nicola for your attention to detail. We had a wonderful stay.

A WONDERFUL STAY

  • 5 of 5
I was in the apartment from July 10th to July 17th.The house is in a perfect spot in the center of Rome, walking distance from Piazza Navona, Piazza Venezia and Campo de Fiori, very clean and tidy, in a quiet street. I was there with my wife and daughter, but the house can accomodate up to 5 people. Owner is very friendly and speaks good English. Overall it is definitely recommended and Rome is fabulous!

In addition to being close to all major Roman sites, the area is full of typical Italian restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, supermarkets, museums, art galleries, antique dealers and shops of all kinds. Also in near reach are the Gianicolo, a look-out point from which you can see the entire city, and Villa Pamphili, one of the most beautiful parks in Rome.
