This unique and one of a kind house will be featured on the HGTV and GAC shows 'You Live in What?' in 2015. It was built in 1861, originally as a residence, with wood siding and the entrance facing Jones Street. Around the turn of the century, it was converted to a grocery store, stuccoed, and the front door was moved to the corner, like many of the businesses in the Landmark Historic District. It remained a grocery until 1980 and then was converted back to a residence, although the door remained at its present location on the corner.
The house is located on Jones Street, which is reputed to be the most beautiful street in Savannah. You are within walking distance of everything in the Landmark Historic District, and only blocks from Clary's, Mrs. Wilke's Dining Room, the Firefly Cafe, and the Mercer House.
The house is very open and surprisingly spacious inside, with a very large modern kitchen, which is open to the living and dining area. Be a couch potato, while watching the wall mounted 42 inch flat screen TV. Or enjoy your favorite program or movie while preparing a meal in the totally renovated kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has brand new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops.
The bedroom is separated from the living area by sliding glass panels. The bathroom is large and has a jetted shower.
Enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine in your cozy private landscaped courtyard.
This house is very comfortable for one or two adults, and up to two younger children, or three adults only. It is not suitable for two couples. If your group consists of four adults, please check out my other listings that are two bedroom houses and would work better for you.

this place was great, nice, quite and beautiful street. looks just like the photos. well stocked with anything you need. washer and dryer so handy. no problem parking. can walk anywhere you want to go. the owner was great to work with. just wish i could have stayed longer.
This review is a little late as we stayed here last May(2014), however better late then never. This little house is a treasure!!!! We had the best time, and the house was perfect for us and our 2 small dogs!! You are in the hart of everthing Savannah has to offer, you can walk to everything if you so wish. Yet it is nice and quiet in the evenings making it nice to sit outside in the privet court yard. The worst part of this stay was the leaving I would have staed forever! Thank you so much for letting us stay in your little jem!
My husband had never been to Savannah, so we decided to stay at this property for our first anniversary. We loved the location and walked everywhere along the beautiful oak-shaded sidewalks encompassed by elegant homes. Betty was very helpful! Highly recommend this location and can't wait to return!
We have stayed in numerous rentals in Savannah over the years and this one has become our favorite. It has a number of advantages including free parking almost always available in front, no stairs to climb, easy move in and out, no one above or below making noise, nice courtyard, washer and dryer, beautiful new shower, wi-fi, extremely comfortable bed, short walk to Kroger, Forsythe Park, the river, and all sites in the Historic District. You will not find a more accommodating and helpful owner than Betty. We highly recommend this place.
Sorry, this review is a late. On my previous trips to Savannah, I always booked a hotel on Bay Street to be in the "Heart of it all". However I have to say booking this Jones Street rental with Betty was the best experience I've had--it was also our first time renting a property by owner. Betty was very accessible from the moment I e-mailed to find out more abut the property, to our arrival in Savannah. She met us at the property and took the time to talk with us about the unit, the area and even offered a additional restaurants ans sites to check out during our stay. The unit is very nice I would say it's perfect for two people, however there is a pullout couch if you have a 3rd or 4th guest. Parking is on the street, and the unit is within walking distance of the Riverfront, and all the local museums, and local attractions. It's also just a few few blocks from the gorgeous Forsyth Park, where we took our morning runs. One slight issue that was quickly resolved. We did have a concern with the shower knob and locating the right position for hot water, but a quick call to Betty and the issue was resolved. I would definitely consider this property for future trips to this beautiful city and recommend it highly. Betty was great, the property is great and Savannah and its people are FANTASTIC!
The owner (Betty) was very nice and helpful we called her when we landed at SAV and she met us at the property and took her time to get us oriented. Everything was nicer than shown in the pics, very clean and completely livable. The street parking was no problem the house had a great shower and comfy bed. Drawbacks were it is a noisy street and the forced air heat register is a bit loud. Savannah is a fabulous city...The food was unreal from southern take out to 5 star dining truly it was unparalleled.
