This unique and one of a kind house will be featured on the HGTV and GAC shows 'You Live in What?' in 2015. It was built in 1861, originally as a residence, with wood siding and the entrance facing Jones Street. Around the turn of the century, it was converted to a grocery store, stuccoed, and the front door was moved to the corner, like many of the businesses in the Landmark Historic District. It remained a grocery until 1980 and then was converted back to a residence, although the door remained at its present location on the corner.
The house is located on Jones Street, which is reputed to be the most beautiful street in Savannah. You are within walking distance of everything in the Landmark Historic District, and only blocks from Clary's, Mrs. Wilke's Dining Room, the Firefly Cafe, and the Mercer House.
The house is very open and surprisingly spacious inside, with a very large modern kitchen, which is open to the living and dining area. Be a couch potato, while watching the wall mounted 42 inch flat screen TV. Or enjoy your favorite program or movie while preparing a meal in the totally renovated kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has brand new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops.
The bedroom is separated from the living area by sliding glass panels. The bathroom is large and has a jetted shower.
Enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine in your cozy private landscaped courtyard.
This house is very comfortable for one or two adults, and up to two younger children, or three adults only. It is not suitable for two couples. If your group consists of four adults, please check out my other listings that are two bedroom houses and would work better for you.

We have stayed in numerous rentals in Savannah over the years and this one has become our favorite. It has a number of advantages including free parking almost always available in front, no stairs to climb, easy move in and out, no one above or below making noise, nice courtyard, washer and dryer, beautiful new shower, wi-fi, extremely comfortable bed, short walk to Kroger, Forsythe Park, the river, and all sites in the Historic District. You will not find a more accommodating and helpful owner than Betty. We highly recommend this place.
Sorry, this review is a late. On my previous trips to Savannah, I always booked a hotel on Bay Street to be in the "Heart of it all". However I have to say booking this Jones Street rental with Betty was the best experience I've had--it was also our first time renting a property by owner. Betty was very accessible from the moment I e-mailed to find out more abut the property, to our arrival in Savannah. She met us at the property and took the time to talk with us about the unit, the area and even offered a additional restaurants ans sites to check out during our stay. The unit is very nice I would say it's perfect for two people, however there is a pullout couch if you have a 3rd or 4th guest. Parking is on the street, and the unit is within walking distance of the Riverfront, and all the local museums, and local attractions. It's also just a few few blocks from the gorgeous Forsyth Park, where we took our morning runs. One slight issue that was quickly resolved. We did have a concern with the shower knob and locating the right position for hot water, but a quick call to Betty and the issue was resolved. I would definitely consider this property for future trips to this beautiful city and recommend it highly. Betty was great, the property is great and Savannah and its people are FANTASTIC!
The owner (Betty) was very nice and helpful we called her when we landed at SAV and she met us at the property and took her time to get us oriented. Everything was nicer than shown in the pics, very clean and completely livable. The street parking was no problem the house had a great shower and comfy bed. Drawbacks were it is a noisy street and the forced air heat register is a bit loud. Savannah is a fabulous city...The food was unreal from southern take out to 5 star dining truly it was unparalleled.
Just returned from a week-long stay in this pristine oasis located on Jones Street, considered one of the loveliest streets in the South (and it is). I visit Savannah every year for the Holidays together with my two dogs and was fortunate enough to find Betty's charming place was still available (I had tried the year before and had no luck). She remembered my name and even had my previous emails!!! Betty went above and beyond before my arrival in answering all of my questions quickly, and the booking process, including the refund of my deposit, was swift and easy. From the moment I walked through the door, I was taken aback at how perfectly designed this place is. High ceilings, lots of natural light, a glass divider between the living / bedroom area making it seem much bigger than the 700 sqft it actually is. Everything in the unit is in perfect working order, tastefully decorated and oh...the bed is heaven! We really enjoyed sitting out on the lovely little courtyard in the mornings drinking our coffee and planning out our days, and even though one of the sides of the house is on a main street, there was never an issue with noise, unlike some other places I've stayed at. When I visit Savannah, all I do is eat out at the numerous excellent restaurants that Savannah has to offer (Betty also has a folder filled with menus from several of them), so we didn't get much of an opportunity to cook, however, the kitchen seemed very well stocked. There was plenty of street parking in front of the unit, day or night, so we never had an issue with that either. The unit is located about a 5-minute walk from Troupe Square and a 15 minute walk from Bay Street/Riverfront so we walked everywhere when possible. I could go on and on about what a wonderful place this is, but hopefully you'll have an opportunity to find out firsthand (although I should keep it a secret). This will be my go to place from now on. Thank you Betty. You made our trip this year extra special and we really enjoyed getting an opportunity to meet you and speak with you in person. Happy Holidays!
This is an excellent place to stay clean quiet neighborhood. Could not find anything negative to say.You will be in the pretty area of Savannah .close to shops ,diners. There is quite a variety.
My new husband and I rented this house for our wedding week. We wanted a place close to downtown so that we could be near the wedding events and our friends and family but also have a place that was just ours at the end of the day. It was a perfect location, Jones street is beautiful and there were shops, cafes, and a grocery store all within reasonable walking distance. The house was beautifully decorated and even though the space is small the tall ceilings made it feel open. We very much enjoyed our stay here and will definitely rent again for an extended Savannah stay! And it's pet friendly!
