Photos and Description of the East Glacier Park vacation cabin rental
Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

This quaint and quiet cabin is set slightly back off of Hwy. 2 behind a small grove of aspens, giving you lots of privacy in a peaceful setting. The views from the cabin are spectacular. The mountains of Glacier National Park are to the north, The Lewis and Clark National Forest is seen to the west and the plains of The Blackfeet Reservation are to the east. The cabin is located a few hundred yards from the Lubec Trailhead, directly across Highway 2. The trail is an easy 8 mile hike to East Glacier Park. Lubec trail connects to the Autumn Creek Trail, Firebrand pass Trail, Mirias Pass Trail, and the Continental Divide. This area is known for some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world.

The town of East Glacier is 6 miles east of the cabin. The town is the location of the Great Lodge of Glacier Park and it's 9 hole golf course offering amazing views. The town also has a variety of shops and restaurants. Continuing east on Hwy. 2 is the town of Browning. Browning is the largest town on the Blackfeet Reservation. It has museums, shops, restaurants, Glacier Peaks-a full service casino, and lots more.

Kalispell airport is about 90 minutes from Cabin Ida Lou. It is on the west side of Glacier Park. The drive from the airport will take you through Mariah Pass and across the Continental Divide. Great Falls airport is an approximate 2 hour drive from the east. The drive crosses the Plains through the Blackfeet Reservation.

Ida Lou sits on 4 long, narrow acres. Start your Glacier days with a 1 mile walk to the back of the property enjoying breathtaking views in every direction.

The cabin has two lofts, one with a double bed, one with two twin beds. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed. It comfortably sleeps six.

About The Owner

Our love for Glacier National Park and this area is the reason we purchased this cabin, which we have named Ida Lou.

We are from south Louisiana and can boast true southern hospitality. Our hope is to share this area with others who love it as much as we do.

Why The Owner chose East Glacier Park

We have seen many of the National Parks in this country and Glacier is our favorite! The locals are friendly and welcoming. Every time we come back to Glacier we find more reasons to love this place.

What makes this cabin unique

The peace, quiet, indescribable views are the best. No town noises, dogs barking, no hustle or bustle! It is truly a great get away.

How great is was to spend a week in such a wonderful cabin.The location is centrally located,GNP just at your door.Trailheads within walking distance.Weeks later we stilll mention the cozy feeling we had each morning as we headed towards the trails.Being able to see both sunrises and sunsets at one location was Grand.Being able to go into town when needed was simple and easy.If making breakfast or mela is not your game then Two Medicine Grill will fill you with enough breakfast to last till dinner.If you are going to the East Glacier or GNP and want to be loacted where the action is without the hustle & butsle the Cabin Ida Lou is for you.
Thanks you for sharing this liitle jewel,we are already thinking of our 2013 adventure.

Accomodations wonderful and relaxing

The photos are accurate, the views beautiful. The accommodations were wonderful (and clean) and the setting very relaxing. We arrived on Amtrak around 4am last Tuesday. While we had a challenge locating the drive in the dark and rain to this away-from-the-road cabin, the directions were detailed. When we pulled in, we knew we'd found our temporary home.

East Glacier Park is a delightful little town, with a great pottery shop, wooden spoon crafter, and various small galleries. (The Avis gentleman gets kudos for meeting us at that 4am train....above and beyond our expectations. His little cafe served good food, too!)

The owners were patient and helpful in answering all of our questions and getting us oriented for our all-too-brief vacation in Glacier.

The Ida Lou cabin was everything we needed. It provided enough space for my husband, myself, and our three children. The view was incredible! It was a wonderful to come home each night to a clean, quaint cabin. We utilized the kitchen for our evening meals and the internet for e-mailing. The owners we very friendly and helpful.

Tremendous family experience! Within a quarter mile saw moose, black bear, beaver sign! Upper deck's view would rival any five star room at any of the National Park Lodges. Comfortable with everthing one needs. The bath is adequate but to be candid a very large person would probably find it difficult to maneuver as it is small.Close to E. Glacier and within a 50 minute drive to E. Park entrance. Even went to Waterton Canada, about an hour and a half away. Great family experience! The wonderful hosts and extrememly accomodating! Highly reccomend! Local eateries will load you up and the prices are reasonable for the portions we received. Made HUGE family memories!

We spent a month at Cabin Ida Lou this autumn. We went there looking for some space and quietude and that is what we got! The mountain views are stunning and the cabin is cozy! The wood stove kept us toasty warm and we even enjoyed modern conveniences like washer/dryer and the internet! The cabin care taker was available, friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful experience!
