Your 30-foot screened lanai can be accessed through glass doors in three rooms. The beautiful view of the Gulf stretches as far as the eye can see. This beachfront unit is ideal for a couple desiring great comfort and expansive living, but still comfortable for 3 to 4.
The floor plan is identical to that of a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit, except that a wall between the 2nd bedroom & living room has been replaced with a folding door to provide privacy when not not being used as a large, open living area. You have a den by day, or a second bedroom by night. This room has comfortable trundle beds. No matter the number in your party, you still have the advantage of an open living room/den combination. The trundle bed can be used as 2 twin beds or put them together for a king size bed.
Why the Owner Chose Crystal Sands: Having lived in Florida since 1957, we chose Siesta Key as the ideal location for a vacation home. We now live in Sarasota, but love the Crystal Sands condo so much that we've decided to keep it forever.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo: This direct gulf-front from your lanai; 2 full bath condo sleeps one to four people (King size bed in master bedroom and trundle beds, can convert to 1 King bed, in den/bedroom that sleeps two.) Condo may be used with large, open floor plan with master bedroom, or close the den's privacy wall and have two private bedrooms. Our unit is located on the eighth floor, faces southwest, and features 3 TVs, one 42'; free high speed wireless Internet, and a washer & dryer in the unit (more washers and dryers by the elevator). The living room, the master bedroom and the den/bedroom all have sliding glass doors to the screened balcony. The master bathroom has a combination tub/shower; the main bathroom has a large shower. The Kitchen is complete with dishwasher, refrigerator, double-oven stove, microwave, kitchen/cooking utensils, pots & pans, George Foreman Grill, Double waffle maker, toaster, blender, coffee maker, etc. If you need it and we don't have it, we will get it! Just tell us!
There are two heated swimming pools (one located next to the beach, the other adjacent to the complex's office) The unit is virtually free of traffic noise being about 800 feet from the street. carpets and recent painting . Fiber Optic cable TV, free unlimited, free long distance calling throughout US, Canada Guam, Virgin Islands.
We moved to Orlando, Florida from Columbia, S.C. in 1957 and spent many wonderful vacations with our four children on Siesta Key. We purchased our beautiful condo on the 8th floor in 1985 and have shared it with many guests from all over the world. We manage our apartment and meet all our guests upon arrival so that you will get the best possible experience while on vacation knowing that we are 10 minutes away in case of any emergencies or should you need us for help or information.

Besides the beauty of Crystal Sands, we have the best of all worlds--the powdery white beach, the calm expansive gulf, the breathtaking sunsets nightly, great weather, and beautiful Sarasota just over the bridge. The expansive gulf is seen from every room in our apartment. You can choose to eat your meals inside or on the 30 foot screened lanai. Covered parking with covered walkway only steps to the high rise elevators. Steps to the heated pool. Unique architecture of the Crystal Sands high rise building.
We were here for 4 weeks in Dec. All the previous comments are too true. Essie & Mel are great Owners.One could not ask for more.
We were here in Mar. '13 for 4 weeks as well and will be back for Mar. '14 & Dec. '14. And, plan for 2 months every year and more if I could talk Judy into that idea.
Which, I guess, shows you how much we love the Condo, Beach, Lanai for Happy Hours, the restaurants nearby and in the "Village". Recommend Javier's, Miguel's, The Cottage, The Hub at Bahia & Bon Jour (great crepes). Free cab, just tips.
Very clean condo, fully stocked. Mel and Essie are wonderful to work with. I have rented other condos in the past and have never had all of the supplies provided like this. The welcome basket went way above and beyond our expectations! Would definitely recommend this condo to others.
The condo was beautiful and very roomy. The view was amazing to wake up to every day. The pool was clean and warm. The ocean was perfect and the sand was cool. We had a great week. The owners were wonderful and thoughtful. I would recommend this rental to my family and friends.
As a native Sarasotan I relish any chance to go home and spent time on some of the most beautiful beaches in the US. I especially love the south end of Siesta Key and jumped at a chance to rent a unit with Gulf views. Clean, comfortable and that lanai! The unit owners were equally charming providing us with an extremely thoughtful basked it of edible goodies for our arrival and were a charming couple. The unit was perfect for two people and we spent every morning on the lanai watching the pelicans and the waves of the Gulf. I can't wait to go back and rent this unit again. Thanks so much for a lovely vacation.
This was our second stay with Melvin and Essie at the Crystal Sands, and it was even better than the first. The weather was excellent - High 80s / Low 90s in during the day, mid to low 70s at night. We had rain the first night, and saw just a trace after that.
The beach and Gulf are perfect at Crystal Sands - deep beach with powdery sand that doesn't get hot, and very gradual entry to the Gulf. Waves were generally small, with moderate (2 - 3ft) on windy days.
The pool and common grounds are well maintained (the nozzle on the clean-off hoze was broke one morning and fixed by noon later that day), and the building is well secured (security fob to access beach 24 hrs a day, in evening to access elevators).
Mel and Essie's condo is cleaner than any rental property or hotel I have ever been in, and is more than adequately stocked with towels, linens, and kitchen supplies. The new washer and dryer are excellent.
A couple of thoughts:
- While this unit does not directly face the Gulf (it faces slightly south), we believe it has better views than the directly facing units would because it allows you to see the beach in addition to the Gulf. We prefer the south facing view because it has less buildings in the sight line than does the north facing view.
- We used the table on the lanai for nearly every meal, even during the heat of the day because the breeze keeps it comfortable and the south facing angle puts it in the shade most of the day.
- The trundle bed worked very well for our 9 and 7 year olds, and we appreciated the extra feel of roominess by not having the second bedroom walled off.
Mel and Essie are a special couple, and they make you feel special when you rent from them. We are already signed up for next year.
This was our first stay in Siesta Key and we all hope to return soon! I was a little hesitant using VRBO, but I'm glad we decided to work with Mel & Essie at this Crystal Sands unit.
We were met at the condo by Essie and Mel who gave us a great overview of the condo and the property. They were so thoughtful and brought a basket of goodies which allowed us to enjoy our first hours on the beach and not worry about running to the local grocery store for bread, lunch meat, snacks, etc...They were always responsive and very attentive to questions before and during our stay. They obviously go to great lengths to care for the condo and their guests.
The condo was on the 8th floor which was perfect for us. I always enjoy ocean/gulf front condos and I wasn't disappointed. We loved spending time on the lanai watching the sunset over the water. The beach wasn't crowded…However, there was a lot of seaweed along the beach. Tropical storm Isaac arrived the day after we did, so I'm not sure how much that contributed to the above factors.
The condo was immaculate and spacious for our family...The beds in the second bedroom could be converted to a king size bed. There are two full baths, dining area and a complete kitchen with everything we needed. There was also a utility room with washer/dryer that made washing convenient. The screened in lanai could be accessed through both bedrooms and the living area. There is also a covered parking space available to guests.
Overall, this ended up being the perfect place for us! Great condo, great views and easy access to stores and restaurants. We will definitely return!
