The tranquility of the desert help to make this vacation get-away the perfect place to relax and enjoy.

Two large windows allow plenty of natural sunlight, and a beautiful view of the Superstition Mountains. The kitchenette boasts granite countertops, eating area, and plenty of gadgets for cooking. The bathroom is home to a large, custom, tiled shower. A bookcase compliments the living area, and includes many books, DVD's, and games. Outside, an outdoor patio and barbeque area are on the main level, and an awesome viewing deck above provides the perfect setting for a glass of wine at the end of the day.

About The Owner

After teaching, we love being able to unwind in the quiet and spaciousness of our desert surroundings. We moved into our house about ten years ago and built the separate studio on our one-acre property a few years later.

The Owner purchased this studio in 2010

Why The Owner chose Apache Junction

There are two main reasons we moved to East Mesa - one to build a ceramic art studio, and two, to be close to hiking and mountain biking. Now that Charles has gone back into teaching, part of the ceramic art studio has been converted into the vacation rental, with it’s own separate entrance.

What makes this studio unique

We’re close to nature, but also within a few minutes to food shopping, coffee shops, convenience stores, and gas. Close freeway access takes you to malls, movie theatres, hospitals, public transportation, and the airport.

Mesa Casita...Perfect for Us!

  • 5 of 5
This was a great place for our stay in Mesa. The listing accurately pictured and described the studio. Even before we arrived we had a great feeling about staying there....Joelyn responded thoroughly and quickly to emails and phone calls. The property was easy to find and located close to our family in Queen Creek. It was quiet and very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchen was perfect for the amount of cooking we wanted to do. We would happily stay there on a return visit.

Cozy Desert Gem

  • 5 of 5
This charming, just-big-enough, studio apartment is located in a semi-rural/residential neighborhood in Northeast Mesa near multiple hiking trails. The attentive and friendly owners live in a separate building on the same property and provide a clean, well-appointed rental and abundant information about everything from recreation to restaurants. WIFI, and HD-TV keep you connected as much or as little as you wish. We enjoyed our two week stay in this cozy, and comfortable desert gem.

Short But Sweet...

  • 5 of 5
... or maybe AWESOME is a better description of our short 3-night stay!

Owners, Joelyn and Chip, have created a wonderful place to stay with touches of luxury you wouldn't normally expect in a rental - the hand crafted tiles (designed by Chip) in the natural stone shower, the most comfy bed ever and a kitchenette with everything one could possibly need.

AND the location made our stay even better... away from the hustle and bustle of the city on the edge of Usery Park put us within walking distance to hiking trails. Not to mention the views of the mountains and desert landscape from the studio window. A drive to Sedona made for a great day trip which included a great lunch and another beautiful hike.

The 90+ degree weather with no humidity was a welcome change to our cold Kansas spring.

We're already talking about a return trip!

I proposed during my stay, she said YES!

  • 5 of 5
Joelyn and Chip were the most respectful, kind, and accomidating on site "land lords" we have ever had. Knowing they lived on site, typically raises issues of privacy but this was not the case. They seemed to always know when to give us our space and when it would be nice to chat with them.

I proposed to my fiance at the Grand Canyon and upon our return and them knowing the news, they even left us a card and gift awaiting us leaning up against our front door. It was very sweet of them. They also provided great assistance and recommendations for hiking restaurants, shopping, entertainment and more!

It seemed the always went out of their way to make our stay amazing, yet, it all seemed so natural to them. They are genuinely good people and I recommend a stay here for the beautiful location, the amazingly low price, and most of all, the company (when you welcome it).

Quite spot to relax

  • 5 of 5
We only stayed for 3 nights but would like to have stayed longer. March is a great time to be there and a lot of the wildflowers were in bloom especially up in the Superstition Mountain area, which you can view out the window of the studio or from the rooftop patio. The studio had everything we needed for a short stay & was very quiet & comfortable. I got up before sunrise each morning & hiked Usery Park trails, which 2 of the accesses were just a few minutes walking distance away. These were basically flat hikes. I wish I would have had the time to hike north into the mountains...hopefully next time. The studio is in a residential area on the NE part of Mesa away from the main drag but very easy to get anywhere in Mesa within minutes. Chip was very nice but unfortunately we missed Joelyn because of our schedules. I think Carolyn & her would have had a lot in common being Education Consultants. We will definitely stay there again if we get that way again.
