RiverSpace is a large, bright private room at one end of a country house. Surrounded by 16 acres of forest and meadow on a quiet country road, this is an ideal location for anyone who wants distraction-free time to write, study, meditate or just get away from it all. Although the ocean is only ten miles away, this is a different climate zone--often sunny and warm when the beach isn't! RiverSpace can be a quiet retreat or home-base for exploring the gorgeous scenery of the Oregon coast. It can be a sanctuary or the starting point for great mountain biking on miles of forest roads. You can sink deep into the natural world, where the only sound is the murmur of the river, the only lights come from the stars overhead, and the air is full of the rejuvenating scent of fir and cedar. However you choose to spend your day, your warm cozy room awaits you--and oh yes, there's a hot tub from which to gaze at the moon! It's quiet and private, a perfect getaway for a few days or more. Well-behaved dogs are welcome--it's a super place for a dog vacation too!

I'm a writer working on a nonfiction local history book. I've lived here for 20 years. I love this area because of the easy access to nature and I have hiked all of the trails and many of the forest roads in the area. I'm happy to share info about things to see and do--and most important: where to eat!
Andrea purchased this studio in 1999
This is my personal residence. RiverSpace, the rental unit, used to be the master bedroom. With its own private entrance, deck area, and access to the hot tub, RiverSpace provides a quiet retreat in a beautiful setting, nestled in the trees but still close to the beach, the little town of Yachats, and great hiking trails. Many of my guests tell me this is a 'sanctuary' where they find tranquility and restoration of mind, spirit, and body. I really enjoy sharing the beauty of this place with others.
Privacy; peace and quiet; natural beauty; wildlife viewing (elk frequently roam across the meadows); places to walk along the river, up on the ridge, or along the country road; easy access to the beach, local shops and restaurants, and various tourist attractions such as the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area. After an active day on the beach, you return to a cozy room and a rejuvenating hot tub.
This beautiful piece of property is tucked back in the woods of a lush and peaceful valley, several miles off the main highway. It is incredibly peaceful and Andrea, the owner, is a great person to sit and chat with if she and her dog, Sy, are around working in their enormous garden space. You can't beat the outdoor hot tub on a clear night. With no city lights nearby, you see an amazing number of stars above. The room itself has many big windows, a high ceiling and a view of the property that will leave you wanting to extend your trip at least one more day. We will be back!
Awesome place to stay! Out in the forest with a beautiful river close enough to hear from the hot tub (probably the best one I've been in, by the way). Perfect place to stargaze, hike and relax. The room is connected to Andrea's house however she gives plenty of privacy! I look forward to staying again.
My partner and I spent three nights this past weekend at RiverSpace, and were very happy! The land is beautiful, and there are lots of big windows in the room so you can enjoy the scenery from inside as well. I think another reviewer said they plan to get the same hot tub when they get their own, and I would agree - we really enjoyed it. Andrea is not able to have more than a microwave, toaster and coffee pot in the kitchenette (due to zoning laws, I think) so you'll have to enjoy eating out and not having to clean up!
Great place to relax and hear nothing but nature. Hot tub was great. I had never stayed in the midst of a forest and away from the TV and I had a great experience at Andrea and Sy's place.
I was gifted three years ago w/ a stay at RiverSpace. The serenity of the property, and the respectful treatment from the owner soothed my sore, grieving heart then. This year, I treated myself to another stay, this one longer. I was not disappointed. Again, the serenity of the space (which I made my own w/ 'stuff' I had brought from home), and the pleasant, kind respectful energy from the owner once again soothed. The room was delightful, warm, and cozy...the Tempurpedic bed gave me great sleep. I did not use the hot tub this year, but spent lots of time on the Yachats beach. The Mushroom Festival was extraordinary! I would, and DO, recommend this property to friends and acquaintances.
We drove up and were greeted by a smiling Andrea (the owner) and a beautiful, friendly dog. She walked us through the room, and told us a bit about the property then it was nothing but peace, quiet and tranquility. The room was immaculate and the property was very fun to explore. When we finally buy our own hot tub, I will definitely want the same model as RiverSpace. Went home feeling refreshed and recharged.
The central Oregon coast features great choices for activities, from fine dining to mountain biking, shopping to kayaking. The beach is just 15 minutes from the property and many other attractions are just another 10 or 15 minutes away--all along very scenic drives. The Cape Perpetua National Scenic Area offers miles of trails through coastal forests, tidepooling, spectacular views, and an interpretive center full of information (and helpful guides) about this area. There are three lighthouses within a 45 minute drive of the property. Alsea Bay to the north offers fishing, crabbing, clamming, and kayaking--and equipment rentals to support each activity. The bay is a designated Significant Birding Area where you can see eagles, herons, many species of ducks, etc. In the fall, Yachats features the annual Mushroom Festival--or you can just go foraging through the woods to identify and collect an incredible variety of fungi. RiverSpace is on a forest road that connects to a network of gravel roads that are perfect for mountain bikes. The Pacific Ocean is just 15 minutes away, with long sandy stretches of beach and also trails along rocky bluffs where you can see 'spouting horns' of ocean spray--and out to sea you can spot actual whale spouts as the huge marine mammals pursue their annual migrations between Mexico and Alaska. Many guests plan day trips--north takes you to Newport's Aquarium and the Hatfield Marine Center, plus lots of fun restaurants and shops. South takes you to Florence and the remarkable sand dunes, plus more shops and restaurants. And Yachats itself offers plenty of opportunities for shopping and dining--unique businesses where the owner is usually on hand to give you personal attention.
