The home is located on the south side of Mount Saint Helens, a short distance from the boat ramps at Lake Merwin at Cresp Bay and Yale Reservoir at Saddle Dam. Near by is also the beautiful Lewis River and Merrill Lake. For the avid fisherman bring your boat for easy access to the boat ramps. For Fly Fisherman there's fly fishing only areas, on Merrill Lake and Lewis River. For the golfer there's the Lewis River Golf Course located on the Lewis River, also offers fine dinning. East of Cougar is The Swift Reservoir it's a massive mountain lake with boating sports. For the Mt St Helens climbers, the home is located seven miles from the registration at Cougar and climbers bivouac is twenty two miles from the home. For scenic drives and hikes there's gorgeous water falls to visit, foot bridges at Lava Canyon, and Windy Ridge on the east side of Mt St. Helens. The Ape Caves just out of Cougar are also a popular destination for children and adults. In the winter there's a snow park east of Cougar for snow mobiles and cross country skiing.

Family Gathering place in the Woods!

We needed a retreat in the forest. This location is incredible. Quiet, peaceful, close to all the fun at Lake Merwin and Yale. Plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful (huge) master bedroom/bathroom. So happy to find plenty of towels :) Comfy beds and linens. We absolutely loved the oversized living/entertainment room which has french doors to separate it from the rest of the house. Our teenagers loved having their 'own' table in the formal dining room to play games. The little kids were delighted to find toys to play with in one of the bedrooms. The front porch and spacious deck were delightful, we enjoyed the sights and sounds of the property very much! This home is well stocked, we had everything we needed for preparing our family meals. The washer and dryer were a huge benefit! We were very happy with this property, it was better than we expected. Thank you Vickie for everything!!

We enjoyed our stay at this home so much! The pictures on here are wonderful, but don't do the home justice. The area is georgous and offers so many things to do. The location of the home is perfect in order to be away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to so many attractions. We were able to explore the South side of Mt. Saint Helen's and saw some amazingly beautiful scenery. We were also not too far away from the Visitor Center and the other side of the mountain. The lake is so close and has a wonderful day use/swimming area. After full day's exploring, it was so nice to come back to this air conditioned, comfortable, well stocked home. Thank you Vickie for your home and for being so helpful, before, during and after our stay. We had a great time and my family will have this memory forever.

Family gathering - Eugene, Portland and Bellingham

Enjoyed our stay very much. The accommodations are perfect and felt right at home. We explored the caves and the beautiful reservoir. We went on several hikes and saw two bull elk on a walk in the woods behind the house. Most of all Vickie for meeting us on such short notice, turned out to be a memorable family gathering.

Mt. St. Helens Climb

Thanks for sharing such a special place with us Vickie. We’ve had a wonderful time and just wish we could stay longer. Two of us did the big hike up to the rim of the crater an absolutely perfect day and the other two of us took some more modest hikes. Loved exploring Ape Caves and Lava Canyon and walking on such well maintained trails. Thanks to your well equipped kitchen we made some great meals. Hope to come back at some point.
