Great Holiday

  • 4 of 5
A party of 2 adults and 2 kids we stayed in Villa casa blanca and really enjoyed it. What makes this a great house is its lovely location set among Olive trees and all you can hear at night are barn owls and crickets. Rory the owner has installed a sliding door system throughout that allows air in but unwanted mosquitos out, so sleeping is never a problem. The canopy outside makes eating al fresco very pleasant and for sheltering from the sun. The large living room is airy and spacious with a very large tv set that has nothing but Italian speaking channels :( (too much to do to watch tv anyway) The location of the house is fab as its so close to everything but a car is needed. Wonderful beaches, restaurants, splash parks, markets selling great shoes (we had to be very early some close around 11am)and not forgetting a great cookery course that is so reasonable and memorable and kids are welcome too. Dave who lives nearby is very helpful and can organise the cookery course for you. The only negative is the kitchen was very small but Rory is addressing this for 2015, so I would really recommend it for a wonderful relaxing holiday.

Owner's Response: Hi Jean, thank you very much for your feedback. We are so pleased that you really enjoyed your stay at Villa Casa Blanca, especially the beautiful location. You are right, our TV has lots of Italian channels, and only a few English channels. Our previous guests have fed back that they have been able to connect to British TV via our fast wifi. We also have LOTS of DVDs!
Regarding the kitchen, this winter we will be removing the partition wall between the kitchen and the living room and installing a marble surface and additional kitchen units. This will effectively triple the size of the food preparation area and means that there will be an uninterrupted view between the two rooms. We are really excited about this change and hope that future guests will enjoy it. Thank you again and we really hope to see you and your family back at Villa Casa Blanca.

Pefect anniversary holiday

  • 5 of 5
Brilliant, a very memorable holiday. The villa is in an ideal location, peaceful but also a perfect base to get out and about. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a fantastic time. There was a welcome pack waiting for us upon our arrival which was greatly appreciated as we arrived quite late in the day. Dave met us on route and showed us around and was very helpful during our stay.

The villa is spacious and comfortable. The grounds are lovely with the various fruit trees and the pergola at the front is great with the grape vines growing over it. Lovely to sit outside and enjoy a bite to eat and a glass of the local wine.

We made trips to Gallipoli, Otranto, Lecce and Alberobello each of which had thier own attractions. We particularly enjoyed Lecce and Alberobello. Both must sees. The old town of Lecce is beautiful and Alberobello is amazing. The trulli houses are stunning and unique.

We also tried out a couple of the local restaurants. Vini di Vini in Cutrofiano was a real favourite. The food is delicious and the family are very friendly and welcoming. We had dinner there on our last night. It was a beautiful evening sitting up on the roof watching the sunset, very romantic. Cutrofiano is just a few minutes away by car. It's a charming, quiet, old town. Great to wander around on a sunny day and stop for a coffee or a beer. The local supermarket is very handy for essentials. The local people although speak very little English, if at all, are very open and friendly and enjoy teaching tourists Italian.

This was our first trip to Puglia. It truly is a beautiful part of Italy. A perfect location to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. We highly recommend Villa Casa Blanca. It is ideal for a quiet, relaxing holiday. We will definitely visit again and hope to return to the villa as there is still so much of the area to see. Many thanks to Rory for making everything so easy from booking to returning our deposit so promptly and also for the info pack, it was extremely useful. Thanks again to Dave for all his help.

Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5
We had an amazing time at the villa. We stayed for 7 nights and from the minute we arrived, it felt like everything had been taken care of. Dave, an affable Englishman, was there to meet us (apparently he lives very close to the property). Apart from the normal logistical items, he also gave us tips on what was going on in the area and the details of a lady who teaches an excellent authentic Italian cooking class. That is definitely recommended, great value and there is plenty of locally produced wine supplied throughout the day.

The house was very clean, with very fresh towels and bedding provided. The welcome pack was a godsend as we arrived quite late and the wine was consumed in record time. Our youngest was provided with a cot and high chair. Weatherwise, it rained on only one of the days, which was slightly depressing, but there were some DVDs and games which helped us to pass the time. That was the only day that we needed the wood burner, but it made the place feel cosy.

We did not use all of the grounds, but we particularly liked the fact that we could zone off the outside areas like the rear citrus garden (locks from both sides, very handy for young kids) and the front patio area. We even made some fresh orange juice from the trees at the back. No stairs meant that we could completely open all the doors and let our youngest explore in safety. Also, the above-ground pool (in the side garden) was an advantage, as we placed the ladder completely inside the pool for additional safety, on the off-chance that we forgot to lock the gate.

The surrounding area is covered in olive groves. We went to the beach north of Gallipoli on two occasions and we had it to ourselves! It only took us 15 minutes to get there, and I think we drove past a water park, which looked closed. We didn't use the bikes but they would be ideal for couples or families with older kids who want to cycle into town. From driving it, it seemed really flat past lots of olive groves.

Overall, we would recommend villa casablanca mainly for couples or families who like having lots of outside space. It is one or two miles outside the town, so you definitely need a car to get around, therefore we wouldn't recommend it for those that need a restaurant on the doorstep.

TIP: DEFINITELY go to Lecce for a day trip, it is a beautiful city and only 30 mins from the villa. Stay for the evening if you want to see it come alive

Owner's Response: Hi John,

Thank you very much for that excellent and thorough review, we are really pleased that your family enjoyed staying at our villa. We are especially glad that you made use of the facilities and the fruits (we also have figs, lemons, pomegranates, grapes & olives at various times of the year). We also agree that the villa is best suited for those that like open spaces, (as well as fresh air and beautiful starlit nights!). You are correct, the water park is only open from 15th June to 15th September (http://www.splashparco.it).

We are extremely pleased that you also used the villa for creating safe and controlled areas. We created the "zones" with our daughter in mind, who was a baby when we bought the villa, as we wanted to give her freedom to crawl and run around.

We really hope to see you again at villa Casa Blanca.

Best Regards, Rory

Wonderful villa in lovely rural location

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for a week over Easter in villa Casa Blanca. Location was great - within easy reach of Lecce, Gallipoli, Otranto, Leuca etc. which are all less than an hour's drive away. Really lovely villa with plenty of space, 2 good sized bedrooms (with comfortable beds), decent kitchen and dining area and great plasma TV with satellite, DVD and XBox (with selection of games and DVDs). Dave was really helpful and we arrived to find the villa beautifully clean and nice and warm with the wood-burning stove roaring away and bread milk, cereal and a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us. Pool was really lovely and was heavily used by the kids even at Easter! Booking process really easy (with Rory) and security deposit refunded very promptly. All in all impossible to fault and would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing time on the Salento peninsula.

Fantastic time in Salento

  • 4 of 5
We loved the villa. It had everything we needed - well stocked with large airy rooms, and ample space in the grounds for the family to spread out. It really is set amidst the olive groves and you do get a set of fruit trees out the back door. It's a great area, peaceful but close to the coast....which is beautiful. Dave (the property manager) and his family were really helpful and pointed us in the right direction a number of times for wine tastings and cookery courses. All in all a fantastic holiday. Thanks also to Rory (owner) for always being quick to reply on any of our questions when we had them in the booking process.

Family Holiday

  • 4 of 5
This was our first trip to Puglia and what a location! The villa takes approximately 1 hour, 10 mins from Brindisi and was very straightforward to find thanks to Rory's great directions.

The location of Villa Casablanca is superb - only a 5 minute drive to the nearest town of Cutrifiano which has a great supply of cafes, bars, restaurant and a wonderful bakery! Please note not much English is spoken and we did need our phrasebook to hand at all times!

The pool at the villa was a godsend for the boys in the 37 degree sunshine and we had a lot of family fun there. We found the villa to be comfortable with access to free Wifi, x-box and a supply of DVDs.

The city of Lecce is a must, a beautiful city with great architecture, remains of a Roman ampitheatre and great shopping. We only spent a week here and it would have been lovely to have spent more time in the area to explore some of the beaches we didn't get to see - next time!

Dave who met us on arrival at the villa was a really great bloke, who was available in case of any hiccups and was kind enough to take our recycling - we were very grateful!

The villa has it's own fig, lime trees, and grapevines - the figs were beautiful.

I would thoroughly recommend the villa for its location in this beautiful area, as yet untouched by tourism.
