We are the Tennesons we have been coming to this area for over 25 years and we just love the local area, and just decided to purchase a small place where we could escape the Florida heat and also let others enjoy the local area and our little cabin in the woods (just like Grandmas). Please come and enjoy a great place!!
Jeannine Burrell purchased this cabin in 2009
The main reason is that we find it is rural just enough but located just right so we could enjoy the cultural experiences of Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain and Lake Lure.
Peace and Quiet!! The big front porch just rocking or swinging in the early morning or at dusk, just letting the beauty of the Smokey Mountains soak in to my inner soul. The absolute beauty of the estate is just overwhelming, words and pictures just cannot explain it.
Grandma's cabin totally met our expectations of a winter getaway: a warm, cozy, beautifully decorated cabin nestled in the mountains surrounded by the peacefulness of nature. We loved the fact it was so private and quiet. There is a fire pit which we enjoyed sitting around an open fire roasting marsh-mellows and relaxing. Chimney Rock is around the corner so we spent the day hiking and climbing the rock and afterwards enjoying lunch at the village below. Asheville is only 25 miles and we took a couple of trips there. Also, we enjoyed hiking and exploring the 5 acres and relaxing in the hot tub. We all loved the comfort and solitude it offered. It was one of the best stays in the mountains and we look forward to returning.
Grandma's Cabin is the picture perfect mountain getaway!!! Perfectly nestled in the mountains, it's away from it all but just close enough to everything, including an adorable downtown, apple stands, waterfalls, local restaurants, etc. Immaculately kept, it's equipped with anything you need or may have forgotten while packing! Take an afternoon hike up the trail right on the property or simply enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch while soaking up the serenity of your surroundings. Take a day trip to Asheville which is conveniently located about 25 minutes away, or take your family to Pisgah National Forest to see the gorgeous mountain waterfalls. My family enjoyed our day in Chimney Rock where we hiked to the top of Chimney Rock National Park. To say the view was breathtaking would be an understatement! Another family fun activity we enjoyed during our stay was building a campfire in the fire pit and making s'mores! Leaf collecting was most enjoyable while walking the property, and wildlife was seen at every turn. This mountain retreat is perfect for all ages. My family and I created memories of a lifetime and we would recommend this treasure to any family or just for someone looking to get away. We can't wait to plan a return trip!!!
Such an amazing place! Perfect time of year for fall colors and the weather was so wonderful. So many things to do and never enough time. A great place to relax and enjoy nature. From the moment you walk in the door it smells like home, baked goods with a little woodsy twist. Loved it! Complete with makings for s'mores on the table, and after hiking to the falls the hot tub was awesome. Can't wait to get back to Granny's Cabin again. I recommend reading the local books on the table so you can get a plan to make the most of your time. I really loved the front porch swing and the sounds of the forest. The cabin is so cozy, loved the decor, makes you feel at home and so peaceful. Apple picking was fun too. Can't say enough about how great the location is also. Mountains, waterfalls, shopping, Apple farms or just sitting on the porch taking it all in. 2 days is way too short :(. Made memories of a lifetime.
Grandma's cabin is perfect for people looking to relax or trying to get away....but it's also perfect for adventure seekers and families. My two year old loved collecting leaves and hiking the trails around the cabin. The cabin was immaculate and very comforting. Every detail was thought of and you could feel the love that was put into the place. I would highly recommend this gem and I'm even planning a return trip!
The location of the cabin allows easy access to Hendersonville, Ashevilie,Brevard and Black Mountain. The setting is very private and quiet. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The pictures are an accurate depiction of the cabin.
Great WiFi connection and satellite TV. We did not use the fire pit but it was stocked with wood and there was a bag of marshmallows in the kitchen. (Just one of the nice touches that we found.) The gas grill was impeccably clean and nearly new. We enjoyed our get away and wished we could have stayed longer and hope to go back. Try Esmeralda's Inn for a very enjoyable dinner out.
We spent a week at "Grandma's Cabin" and loved every minute of it! From the moment we turned into the driveway we knew we would love it here; the cabin sits far enough off of the roadway that you don't hear any road traffic and you really feel like you're staying at your secluded version of a home away from home. I loved the rustic decor of the cabin, it gives you such a warm, cozy feel. Plus, it gave me some good ideas for my own cabin-themed decor at home! We made good use of the BBQ grill at the cabin, and it was really nice to have your own washer and dryer to do laundry. The kids loved spending time in the hottub and sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows at the fire-pit, while us adults loved sitting in the front porch rockers and swinging in the porch swing. Our kids are 11 and 12 and had no problem finding things to occupy themselves, we also had our Boston Terrier with us who enjoyed it too! The cabin is also located close enough to several towns to visit. We visited the shops at Chimney Rock, took a scenic drive around the area surrounding Lake Lure, visited Fun Depot in Asheville for go-kart fun, and visited Sliding Rock. My personal favorite activity was visiting the waterfalls in the Dupont State Park and Pisgah National Forest, and tubing down the Davidson River in Pisgah National Forest. We had so much fun tubing that we went back a second day! We had family visit us from Alabama that had never went tubing before, there were 10 of us total, and it was HILARIOUS fun to watch each other "struggle" with our tubes! We want to come back to stay and find new places to visit nearby, but we also want to spend more time at the cabin, just taking in all the relaxation it truly brings! This cabin is definetely a place that you can spend your entire vacation in, just enjoying the decor, amenities, and outdoor! We give this cabin two thumbs up and recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable, relaxing stay in the Blue Ridge Mountains!!!
