We are the Tennesons we have been coming to this area for over 25 years and we just love the local area, and just decided to purchase a small place where we could escape the Florida heat and also let others enjoy the local area and our little cabin in the woods (just like Grandmas). Please come and enjoy a great place!!

Jeannine Burrell purchased this cabin in 2009

The main reason is that we find it is rural just enough but located just right so we could enjoy the cultural experiences of Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain and Lake Lure.

Peace and Quiet!! The big front porch just rocking or swinging in the early morning or at dusk, just letting the beauty of the Smokey Mountains soak in to my inner soul. The absolute beauty of the estate is just overwhelming, words and pictures just cannot explain it.

Peaceful, Clean and Comfortable

  • 4 of 5
The location of the cabin allows easy access to Hendersonville, Ashevilie,Brevard and Black Mountain. The setting is very private and quiet. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The pictures are an accurate depiction of the cabin.
Great WiFi connection and satellite TV. We did not use the fire pit but it was stocked with wood and there was a bag of marshmallows in the kitchen. (Just one of the nice touches that we found.) The gas grill was impeccably clean and nearly new. We enjoyed our get away and wished we could have stayed longer and hope to go back. Try Esmeralda's Inn for a very enjoyable dinner out.

What a great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week at "Grandma's Cabin" and loved every minute of it! From the moment we turned into the driveway we knew we would love it here; the cabin sits far enough off of the roadway that you don't hear any road traffic and you really feel like you're staying at your secluded version of a home away from home. I loved the rustic decor of the cabin, it gives you such a warm, cozy feel. Plus, it gave me some good ideas for my own cabin-themed decor at home! We made good use of the BBQ grill at the cabin, and it was really nice to have your own washer and dryer to do laundry. The kids loved spending time in the hottub and sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows at the fire-pit, while us adults loved sitting in the front porch rockers and swinging in the porch swing. Our kids are 11 and 12 and had no problem finding things to occupy themselves, we also had our Boston Terrier with us who enjoyed it too! The cabin is also located close enough to several towns to visit. We visited the shops at Chimney Rock, took a scenic drive around the area surrounding Lake Lure, visited Fun Depot in Asheville for go-kart fun, and visited Sliding Rock. My personal favorite activity was visiting the waterfalls in the Dupont State Park and Pisgah National Forest, and tubing down the Davidson River in Pisgah National Forest. We had so much fun tubing that we went back a second day! We had family visit us from Alabama that had never went tubing before, there were 10 of us total, and it was HILARIOUS fun to watch each other "struggle" with our tubes! We want to come back to stay and find new places to visit nearby, but we also want to spend more time at the cabin, just taking in all the relaxation it truly brings! This cabin is definetely a place that you can spend your entire vacation in, just enjoying the decor, amenities, and outdoor! We give this cabin two thumbs up and recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable, relaxing stay in the Blue Ridge Mountains!!!

5 star vacation for all ages

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed in many cabins in the N.Carolina-Tenn. area, and this one was by far our best experience. The location was secluded and private yet centrally located to everything. We were minutes from Chimney Rock where my son enjoyed gem mining and we enjoyed the quaint town. One day we went snow skiing in Mars Hill, the kids had a blast. We also went to Asheville and the Biltmore house, what a nice day. On another day out we went to downtown Hendersonville and shopped. That evening we went back to Asheville to the "Fun Spot" and played in the arcade and drove go carts. That was a lot of fun. It was a scenic, easy drive to anywhere.
The cabin was perfect. There were five people in our group and we were very comfortable. The cabin was beautifully decorated and every amenity was provided down to the toothpaste. On New Years Eve we decided to stay the evening at the cabin and watch the movies that were provided. There were plenty to choose from. Our ages are from 9 to 49, and there was something for everyone. This was the first vacation that we have been on that our 17 year old daughter didn't want to go home. We recommend hiking up the hill on the property to the cemetery and also after a long day, soaking in the hottub. It was awesome. There is also a Hiking trail in Gerton that is a must.
We loved the whole experience and are looking forward to returning

We spent a wonderful week at the cabin. The beds were comfortable, the seating area great, and all the amenities you would need. The cabin was just like the pictures in the listing. There was a good sized collection of movies for the VCR, and a nice sized Flat screen TV to view them on, or watch your favorite program. My wife enjoyed the rocking chairs, on the front porch, while I liked the swing. We both enjoyed the Hot Tub! There's plenty of hiking trails, and the cabin is pretty much central to everything. Our dogs had a good time sniffing out all the different smells around the cabin as well. We enjoyed everything from Lake Lure to Asheville, and Bat Cave to Black Mountain. You can be as busy as you want, or you can sit on the front porch, read a book, or just enjoy the peace and quiet. There is a grill on the back porch, and a stone fire ring in front of the cabin. If you turn the outside lights off, you can get a terrific view of the night skies. For a good down-home meal you need to go to Gennys, sit on the outside rear deck, and enjoy the food while listening to the sounds of the river. All in all we had a great, restful yet busy week. We will be back next spring for the trout fishing!

Beautiful, well equipped, mountain cabin

  • 5 of 5
Just returned from 2 month stay in Bat Cave, NC. Secluded mountain cabin, yet just down the road from Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and Hendersonville. A great place to relax and enjoy the mountains. The cabin is fully equipped and tastefully decorated. Satellite TV and wifi are included with your stay and even a handicap ramp. This pet friendly cabin was great for our little Yorkies who enjoyed romping in the yard. Try out the hot tub on the covered front porch or just sit, relax and enjoy the view. This was a great vacation I will always remember.
