Amazing vacation!

Staying at Catfish Cove was such an amazing experience. It was a beautiful cabin that was secluded enough that you felt like you were the only ones around, but close enough to Blue Ridge that we were able to enjoy downtown. My boyfriend and I had such a great time there we spent a lot of time outdoors...in the hot tub, fishing on the dock, and just enjoying the view from the decks. The only thing that was missing was our son and I can't wait to come back with him next time!!

Hotel snobs find cabin bliss

Review title is funny but true. Our vacations recently have been to the Caribbean and Italy. We usually stay at 4 star resorts and hotels. After years of raising our son, who recently moved out, we decided a vacation and a different one at that was needed. Through weeks of Internet research my wife finally decided on Catfish Cove cabin in Blue Ridge. Let me start by saying the photos on the website were exactly accurate. We have found past experience, this isn't always true. The cabin was very clean, well decorated, and had everything you need from kitchen equipment on down. We spent the majority of our time relaxing in the screened in porch on the rocking chairs. The beds were comfortable, as well as the sitting areas. The town of Blue Ridge was quaint and shopping and dining was fun. We hiked the nearby falls, went horseback riding, and went to Lake Blue Ridge. All were a quick 15 to 20 minute drive. The only thing we did not do, but recommend is tubing or kayaking. We have done both before in our younger days, but just relaxing at OUR cabin was what the doctor ordered. I say OUR cabin because my wife and I spent a lot of time plotting in the early mornings how we would love to buy this cabin. Our favorite vacation in a very, very long time. We fell in love with the mountains, the people of BlueRidge, the wildlife, and Catfish Cove Cabin. Thank you Barbara, and if ever you get bored with the cabin, we doubt it, email us and we will be more than happy to truly call this "OUR home".
P.S. First day in BlueRidge a black bear ran in front of our car, being chased by the police. Now where else do you get that on day one of your vacation!

The weather was just beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! It was just my fiance and myself so we spent our time fishing (we caught 15 and still counting!- all cleaned and packed up for the father-in-law), relaxing, slept in, enjoyed nature on the huge decks, unwound in the hot tun and used the grill to cook up some steaks, lobster, and the fish that we caught. The neighbor we met was very nice and gave us some fishing and lake pointers. My favorite moments during this stay was when my fiance taught me out to fish and clean the catches,. Also the bonding moments I had with myself and with him. We never felt so close. It was just me & him... everything & everyone else left behind. For now! :)

We had fun relaxing in the hot tub the moment we arrived since it was cold for this time of year! The porch and deck by the lake were perfect for reading. We enjoyed finding a new lake to swim in when Lake blue Ridge was low and ended the day with Sweet Treats (a wonderful ice cream shop!) During our stay we saw many roosters and enjoyed counting all the different roosters and mirrors that decorate the walls of the cabin.

Stayed at Catfish Cove for a few days with a group. Day one we went to see the Amicalola Falls. Beautiful! You can hike all the way up. The last part has 175 steps... or... you can park in the parking lots that are close to the falls. Afterwards we went to the R&A Orchards. We got cider, apple cinnamon bread and boiled peanuts. The next day we hiked part of the Benton MacKaye Trail. Not so good because we thought we were heading to the suspension bridge. The following day we found it! (Full page maps are in the cabinet under the stairs). You can hike 3 miles (which is very BEAUTIFUL!) or you can drive 3miles on the dirt road. The hike is 2.5 hours to get to bridge. If you drive the hike is only 5 mins to the bridge. You can also camp by the bridge! On the final day we had banana pancakes and then went white water rafting with the Raft One Company - we all loved it!
