This is a family farm that has been in our family since 1835. We raise all natural Charolais cattle.
arlene schubert purchased this chalet in 2010
This home was once part of the farm and we had a chance to bring it back into the family.
You will enjoy a great country experience with full access to life on the farm.
Owner very timely with responses, easy to get in contact with. Only issues we had were we didn't know that water ran the risking getting cold if you used dishwasher and the shower at the same time. We also felt a lack of privacy when we were leaving. There's only a sliding door to get into the house from the front so as we loaded up our car (there were 4 of us) we got a phone to close the front door because of the way the house was heated. It felt as if we were being watched & we wondered if we were being watched the whole weekend. Other than that we had a lovely get away weekend from the big city.
Our Family had the most wonderful time being the guests of the Shuberts. Their kind and caring way of making all feel comfortable made our stay that much better. House was beautiful , well stocked and very clean. Kids had a wonderful time exploring the farm and even seeing a calf being born! We look forward to returing for yet another wonderful stay.
My family and I, 13 of us all toll, have been getting together for over 30 years for an annual Labor Day weekend getaway. This year we had the privilege to enjoy Norm & Arlene's Chalet. They were fantastic hosts with farm fresh eggs, maple syrup and coffee waiting for us. The accommodations were comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the horses and were able to go for a trail ride and our dogs loved the company of their dogs, Fritz and Heidi! The fire pit with the view of the horses and mountains was breathtaking. We will definitely stay with Norm and Arlene in the future.
The Double S Farm home is everything promised on the website and by other visitor reviews. It was a welcome sight after a long day of travel and sightseeing. The house is well maintained and the beds very comfy. The pancake mix, coffee, and fresh farm eggs were a surprise treat. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate. Unfortunately our stay was too short and we never had the opportunity to meet Arlene and Norm....maybe next time.
We've been to Cooperstown All Star Village 2 years in a row and enjoyed the farmhouse so much after the first summer that we booked it again for this summer. Roomy house, beautiful scenery. If we return again to CASV, we will definitely stay here again.
Communication prior to sending deposit was awesome, thanks. We arrived to find exactly what was advertised and after non stop baseball daily; it was nice to "home" and relax. Although a 23 - 24 minute drive to All Star village, the Chalet is a welcome sight. A few miles off the main road makes this home very quiet and peaceful.
The home is very nice and well kept, overlooking hills from the front portion of the large deck. Everything you need is there but, be sure to stop and grab supplies ( food etc...) it is a 15 - 17 minute ride to Walmart etc...
The kids loved the large yard, catching frogs and salamanders in the huge pond. Watching and listening to the cows, chickens and horses close-up was fun for the kids. Don't forget our frequent friendliest visitors, the farm dogs. If you have very young kids, the pond might be an issue and possibly the stair climbing for some.
Although the owners were very busy preparing for the local /state fair, Arlene always answered any questions we had. Even encouraging the boys to visit the barn to see if they could catch the chickens (LOL). Even taking time from her day to showing up with a saddled horse, to help my son celebrate his 8th birthday.
We comfortably fit 7 people and our own dog but, easily could have added a couple more. Kids loved having satellite tv and all their devices and our phones worked flawlessly with the wifi. Great experience and wonderful hosts during a busy time in their schedule. Thanks from first time vacation home renters. Also, the master had the most comfortable pillows we have ever used !
