Nice, clean, needs some work
The house was very clean and comfortable, with several nice touches like a bin of crayons/markers for kids, a large-scale atlas, and plenty of PFDs to use on the lake. The sandy beach was a major draw and the sand extended well into the water. The kitchen was well equipped, there were plenty of linens and towels, and the hot water never failed our party of 5. The house was convenient to I-93 and stayed cool on hot days. We loved the screen porch. The neighborhood was quiet. We found plenty to do in the area, being between the Lakes Region and the White Mountains--train rides, Polar Caves, Squam Lake Science Center, NH Motor Speedway, winery and hikes. Loved the ducks, loons, and frogs.
On the minus side, we had two issues--squeaky floors and sketchy electrics. The laminate floor was attractive, but it bulged in some places and made loud noises wherever we walked, enough to wake our sleeping toddler. Lighting was minimal. For instance, there was no light near the sofa or in the back hall, and the overhead light in the dining room was between the table and hutch, not over the table. The pull-chain light in one BR closet didn't always work, and sometimes flickered. Most alarming was one socket with a 3-way outlet plugged into it and a 6-socket power strip plugged into that. There were no smoke detectors.
The house was nice for a week for our party, though we wouldn't want to stay longer than that or with more people. A little attention to the electrical system and adjustment of the flooring would make a big difference.
