For many years the Brown family has enjoyed the Stone Hill home as their primary residence after designing and building it in 1997 to suite the needs of their large family. The home is now used only as a retreat to vacationers.
What makes this lodge unique
From its very inception, every touch to the home has been designed to enhance the luxurious and relaxing ambiance that the home offers. Sitting under the covered patio to enjoy the smells of pine and changing colors of the quaking forests is the perfect ending to every day.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Dear Brown Family.
We are still basking in memories of the delightful week we spent in your beautiful home in Midway.
We loved the abundant space; we all fit nicely in our own beds, all 31 of us. The family-style sleeping was perfect for the little grandkids who needed to be near their parents and the bunk-filled lofts were a big hit with the older boys who like to climb anything and who want to be with their cousins. We had activities going on in every room all the time and we weren’t stepping on each other anywhere.
The kitchen is amazing - the huge stove, the giant fridge, pantry, freezer. That is the first kitchen we’ve ever seen with a stained-glass window above the stove; nice touch. The dining spaces indoors and out were so much fun. Where did you ever get that big round table, from King Arthur’s castle? The
patio area was very popular for eating and hanging out during the day and in late evenings when we snuggled up close to the fireplace and made s’mores. The smaller tables were always occupied by our grandchildren eating cheerios, painting their Picassos, doing crafts or just chatting.
The lovely setting is absolutely magnificent, perfect for this wonderful hideaway home. The privacy is a definite plus. We hiked and four-wheeled up and down the road and no one was run over. The view of the house from high upon the mountain is marvelous.
Thanks for the piano. It came in handy during Family Home Evening on Monday night and throughout the week as we were entertained by our talented Mozart wannabes.
The trampoline was a favorite of our active bunch.
Now we all want a 6-car garage. Wow! What a terrific idea. It is awesome! We especially appreciated being under cover when unloading during the mid-week downpour. Speaking of water, we were amazed that we always had instant hot water.
We have many art lovers in our family so the artwork was duly admired. The beautiful prints and sketches, the mural in the dining room, the carvings on the cabinets, furniture and end posts are amazing as are the tapestries. The stained-glass window between the family room and pool is superb.
Another thing we loved was the convenience to everything we wanted to do. The boys and men went fishing in the early mornings. One day we rented a boat at Deer Creek and spent the day playing on the lake.
We loved all these things about your home; it was our dream vacation.
