UNIQUE APARTMENT NEAR THE ACROPOLIS

We stayed in this apartment on 7/9-7/12/2011. The owner met us at our car and helped to carry our bags to the apartment and then walked us to the parking garage so that we could leave our rental car. She also helped to negotiate the rate with the parking lot. The owner was also very responsive in our inquries ahead of time. She also provided recommendations for grocery shopping in the area. This was all very much appreciated.

This apartment is very centrally located in the Plaka district on a pedestrian only street. We walked everywhere we went (Syntagma, Monastiraki, Acropolis Museum, Acropolis, Temple of Zeus) and nothing was further than a 5-10 minute walk (even with 2 six year olds and a 75 year old). This was probably the best feature of the apartment.

The photos and description in the listing were all very accurate. The apartment was clean. We loved the fact that there was a washer (we used the drying rack to dry our clothes --- everything was dry in hours).

The apartment is eclectically decorated with lots of things from all over the world. It was a very interesting place to stay in. The kitchen has modern appliances and lots of dishware. All of the rooms were very spacious and there was plenty of room for all 5 of us (3 adults & 2 boys).

PROS:
- Centrally located to all of the major Athens attractions & public transportation
- Very helpful and responsive owner
- Very spacious & comfortable apartment
- Washer!!!
- A/C in the dining area & 2 bedrooms
- Big enough for 5 people, maybe more
- Good for kids & seniors
- Reasonably priced, safe parking garage nearby (less than 5 minute walk)
- Cost was less than getting 2 rooms at a mediocore Athens hotel.

CONS:
- Lots of steps up to the 2nd floor apartment (this would not be a good place for someone not able to go up steps)
- Step steps up to the loft (again the loft would not be good for someone not able to manage the steps)
- 5th person would need to sleep in the loft or on the couch in the living room (both areas do not have A/C). We found the living room to be warm without the a/c and did not use this room much. The loft has a fan in it and would likely be comfortable. We ended up moving the futon mattress to one of the bedroom floors and our boys slept on it there (this was purely because we came back from sightseeing very late and they could not make it up the steps).
- Plaka can be easy to get lost in (get a good map!) when driving
