We have built a Brand New comfortable secluded 1300 sq.ft. home in the volcano fern forest. We love spending time here for the quiet atmosphere, fireside experience and relaxed peaceful getaway feeling. We want to share it with you in hopes that you will find this too. This is the 'Big Island' and if you are visiting Kona, it's a long drive to circle the island in one day, so making a couple nights stay in the Volcano area at our place will be the ideal way to do it.

Our place is full of the best that we always wanted in a get away cabin, such as pine walls, black granite counter tops, slate and tigerwood floors, stainless steel appliances and the latest in media entertainment, all the way from the old fashion record player to a large flat screen high definition TV, iPod docking and the ability to see your computer on the TV for slide shows of your most recent trips.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: I've always loved a 'real wood burning' fireplace and that is what we have at our spacious cabin style home. It's a warm comfortable atmosphere that allows us to enjoy the things we don't in the faster pace of Kona, like playing music, board games or just relaxing with good conversation. I do a bit of running and the neighborhoods are generally flat and free of roaming dogs.

Highly recommended, especially if you want to do any hiking in the park. Beautiful, well laid out two bedroom vacation home in the rain forest literally minutes away from the park entrance. Also has a nice attached covered patio in the back yard. Booking with the owners was easily accomplished and security deposit was promptly refunded (without prompting) a few days after our departure. After hiking 4 - 5 hours each day, we ate out at the Lodge and in the Village (both good), but relaxed and enjoyed drinks and appetizers there. The glass blowing shop nearby is also recommended ~ they let us in to browse and shop even though we arrived just minutes before their posted closing time.

Great place to stay

This was a great place to stay. It was peaceful and beautifully decorated. The great experience started with the owners' rapid and friendly responses to all my newbie questions. Believe the pictures. When we walked it; it was immaculate. We spent our nights relaxing on the great lanai warmed with the propane heater (that was a great touch) listening to the frogs. The Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant had great food and atomosphere. Thai Thai Restaurant had good food, but definitely do take out and eat it on the lanai, since the service can be slow.

Great deck. Got everything you can possibly need.
Minutes from entrance of Volcano Park. Half hour or so to Hilo. Perfect!

My husband and I stayed at "Stay Ohia' for a few nights on our honeymoon while exploring the Volcano National park on the Big Island. I have to say, that this accomodation is stunning- like an exclusive ski chalet. Perfect in every way, outstanding valuefor money, thoughtful touches like use of Ponchos, backpacks, warm weather jackets, and on arrival, tea coffee, bagels & muffins.
It was honestly hard to venture outside. You just wanted to stay home in front of a warm fire, and cosy up!! Don't hesitate to book this!

Five Star Accommodation

Liz and Mike have thought of everything to ensure your holiday is the best, most relaxing, comfortable place you will EVER stay on a holiday.
Their customer service is excellent with prompt responses to all correspondence (security deposit was returned the day after departing!). The directions are clear and every process is designed to make it easy for you to find the house and use all the amenities provided, and just enjoy your holiday.
The house itself is so comfortable thanks to the attention to every detail. Anything you might need is here for you.
We stayed for 2 days and will be back for a longer holiday as this is the ideal house to relax in and enjoy. We were sorry we had to go sightseeing because we just wanted to enjoy the house - it is so peaceful and quiet with absolutely no noise ( we heard the frogs at night and the birds during the day but no other sounds - a haven away from everyday stresses!)
The house is in an easily locatable and convenient location to see the volcano and the proximity made it amazingly easy to go and view the volcano at night - spectacular!

Do yourself a favour - look no further - this is the ideal holiday rental!
The pictures and description do not do justice to how good this house is - the house looks so much better and we were delighted when we walked through the door. I must mention how clean the house is. As it is immaculate. We stayed at Trump International Waikiki which is known for its 5 star rating and service and Liz and Mike could teach them a few lessons - in comparison this house and service is 10 star!!!
We appreciated the muffins and bagels in the freezer - the muffins were the best I have ever tasted.
A special thank you to Mike for organising a discounted rate on the Hula Kai at Kona, and for returning the watch we left at the house when we moved on to Kona. We had an amazing time on the Hula Kai which incorporated an ocean trip, snorkelling, lovely breakfast and lunch, tour guide and whale watching
All in one day. We had a great day and thoroughly recommend this activity - the boat is amazing and the crew and captain did everything to make sure we had a safe and comfortable journey. Mahalo Mike.
