Toronto's Beach area has always been a welcoming district full of interesting shops and galleries and surrounded by homes of distinction, both quaint & charming, and continually upgrading & updating.
The Masterpiece Suite is close to all the amenities, only a short ride away from downtown bustle, a walk from the beach & boardwalk and quiet & comfortable.
This is my second stay here, and it is just as terrific as the first!!. The apartment is cute, roomy and very well equipped - lots of dishes, glasses, pots and pans, etc and a dishwasher and apartment size washer and dryer. Bed extremely comfortable (king size), and the linens are very good quality. Everytime I went out and came back, felt like I was coming home. There is no need for a car, two blocks down to the boardwalk along the beach, about a 1 minute walk to the streetcar stop which will take you downtown. But no need to leave the area, lots of shopping, restaurants, access to grocery stores, pharmacy, post office etc. It is located over an art gallery so need to be able to do the stairs. Our kids live near buy so this is a perfect location for us. David and Valerie are very nice and helpful. This is definitely our Toronto home now whenever we visit the kids.
Cute and spacious one bedroom apartment above an art gallery on a lively section of Queen St East. Well equipped and comfortable. Nice living room with a picture window onto the street. Close to the Beach. Very pleasant and responsive owners, David and Valerie. We will definitely stay here again.
We have stayed in a lot of VRBO homes, and this one definitely ranks very high on our favorite list! I can't imagine a better location nor a better accommodation that this one. We were steps away from Lake Ontario and steps away from public transportation into the city. Purchase a day pass at nearby Macs - allows you to use any type of transportation: street car, subway, bus. The apartment sits on top of an art gallery with a beautiful picture window where we could "people watch" and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the street below us. Everything about the apartment has been well thought out - including the keys on lanyards to access to a printer. And, as has been mentioned before, stocking the refrigerator with items to use for morning breakfast was the icing on the cake. David and Val are indeed very accommodating hosts, meeting us late for our initial check in (carrying our luggage up the steps!), and graciously answering all our questions. They arranged for us to have a parking spot off the street nearby (another definite plus!!). Needless to say, when we return to Toronto we will seek out this place to stay without hesitation. The cost is an incredible value - can't think of a reason why someone would want to stay anywhere else!
For our first trip to Toronto, we wondered if staying in The Beaches, rather than in the city center, was a good idea. It turned out to be a good decision made all the better by staying at this apartment. From the initial contact with David and Valerie right up until we left, they were responsive and helpful without being intrusive. In particular, I appreciated their help with learning about getting a parking permit. Obviously. great care has been taken in decorating and in maintaining the apartment. Colors are earth tones befitting the First Nations (American Indian) theme. Dinnerware, carpets and David's brilliant painting series of Indian dancers make for a pleasing experience. In addition, the quality of the appliances, both large and small is unquestionable. Bedding is firm and very supportive. The Wi-Fi Internet speed tested at 3 Mps. Within very easy walking distance is the lakefront ( a couple of blocks) 2 small supermarkets, an ice cream place called Ed's ( top notch and reasonably priced gelato and ice cream) is near, a natural food market with an Asian flair), fresh produce and even a walk-in medical clinic across the street. Getting in to the center of Toronto was simple - a stop for the red line trolley to the center of Toronto is just up Queen Street out front and is an easy 30 minute ride into town. Note that a subway line is about 5 streets away, though we didn't use it. I should also mention that the Ontario Province Wine is only a few short blocks away, so if you like wine (we do) the staff can help you make a good selection. While the prospect of a trolley outside and a bistro adjoining may give you pause about possible noise, we were generally untroubled. Do take a few minutes to visit the Masterpiece Gallery below - the artwork is quite interesting and we wish we had spent more time there. The Queen Street area is well worth wondering around - don't miss the small municipal parks, which are beautifully planted. landscaped and obviously well looked after. As has been noted elsewhere in these reviews, there is a flight of steps up to the apartment which should be kept in mind by those with mobility issues. Also, we found that the microwave and the selection of good quality pots and pans more than made up for the lack of an oven. We hope to come back to Toronto next year and this will certainly be our first choice for a place to stay.
Very nice rental, quiet, comfortable and decorated exceptionally well. As convenient as can be, right on Queen Street, restaurants and stores of all kinds within easy walking distance. Wish I could have stayed a lot longer!
