Spectacular mountain views from this spacious open plan layout of 8,000 sq. ft. Vermont Log Cabin nestled in this small town of Brownsville, VT, secluded with forest on three sides of the property. At night whether in the cabin, outside on the patio or relaxing in the 8 man Jacuzzi, a full sky of constellations, stars, satellites, and an occasional falling star to wish upon is waiting for you. If you are not the outdoor type, you can find plenty to do inside the cabin. The lower level has a media center with lots of room or play pool on the 8 ft. slate pool table. The first floor offers a kitchen that any chef could be entertained. Or sit in the Great Room where a stone fireplace awaits a fire to add ambiance to the room. There is a 51 in. satellite TV, DVD, and a WII. If walking is your choice, there is a trail on the property but you also might want to walk along the road into the small village of Brownsville. We stayed at the house over the Thanksgiving holiday this year - extended family, including in-laws and children. The house was perfect - enough space for everyone to have their space but still be together. Kitchen was great for cooking such a big meal and table was great for a large group. Hot tub was really nice too! Loved being able to visit the alpaca farm down the road and Woodstock was only about 25 minutes away.
A group of us went to this log cabin for a 40th birthday weekend celebration with 7 couples. It is a spectacular cabin with amazing views and is tucked away on the side of a mountain. It has updated amenities, beautiful decor, cozy feeling to it, even amongst 8,000 square feet! Great use of space where we weren't on top of each other. We never left the great room which surrounds you with a gorgeous stone fireplace, antler chandler (my personal fav), moose, deer, elk, stuffed critters that make you feel like you are at the wilderness lodge! You WILL NOT be disappointed. Highly recommended to families, or adults in any season as this place covers it all!
Our group of six couples spent a weekend together and had a blast! The cabin is beautiful, the views were wonderful and the amenities were fantastic! We have already begun planning our trip for next year, and can't wait to return! It's a beautiful area, with lots to do, and the owners have provided everything you need to enjoy your stay.
We are a group that has been going away for 19 years now on Columbus Day Weekend. We have stayed in multiple condos, privates home (much smaller than this) in Maine,NH, and Nantucket, a castle in NH, and even rented an entire INN. This log cabin was one of the best finds. Plenty of room to spread out, awesome views in the back, plenty of privacy, and just a great place to stay.
You are in your own world once you reach the cabin but yet close enough to towns for site seeing, shopping or dining out. We will definely be putting this home on the top of our list and will be back again soon.
We just spent a week at this beautiful cabin celebrating my husband's 80th birthday with 13 friends. Even with such a large group, there was plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable. The cabin was warm and inviting with so many amenities. The kitchen and dining room were awesome and the views from the living room were spectacular. Enjoyed watching deer in the open fields in front of the cabin early morning and evenings. We even used the firepit one night, made s'amores, what fun! The owners had provided everything to make our stay enjoyable.
If you're looking for a special vacation getaway, this would be the place to come.
Just spent a wonderful week at this cabin in Vermont. This was our family's first attempt to all get together for a vacation. This cabin was perfect for our large group, and the owners were very helpful during the planning stages. There is lots of room, the beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen is a dream to use. Everything was clean and working well. We highly recommend this to anyone looking to get away from it all.
The cabin number is'83' not '85'. The cabin offers an 8 man Jacuzzi, sledding, hiking, walking trails, and snow tubing. You are within walking distance to Brownsville General Store, a gas station, an auto repair shop, a church, a library, a playground, a recreational center, Ascutney Resort. You can ski at Okemo, Killington, Sunnapee and Suicide Six. You can also do snowboarding, horseback riding, snowmobiling, hang gliding, swimming, golfing, museums, shopping in Woodstock, antiquing in Quegee Gorge, and in Weston you can visit the famous 'VT Country Store.' For your convenience we have brochures to area attractions available at the cabin. Star gaze at night whether inside or in the 8 man Jacuzzi.
