COZY GARDEN GETAWAY IN HISTORIC LANCASTER COUNTY

New Holland Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 small cozy bedrooms, 1 full bath, open kitchen and living area, brick patio

This apartment is off of the beaten path and is located on a quiet wooded hillside overlooking Amish farms. The apartment doors open onto Fern Wood Gardens, a terraced display of flowers featured in regional garden tours. This is a peaceful quiet place where vacationers may want to enjoy extended stays. We have wireless internet connection, a full kitchen, a barbecue grill, and a washer and dryer to help make your stay comfortable.

Our place is a quiet relaxing retreat for married couples or small families. We are eight miles from the famous Shady Maple Smorgasbord. On a drive through the country side you will pass old order Amish and Mennonite farms. There are numerous covered bridges, old mills, and plain church meeting houses. There are a number of historic sights in our area and an Amish Mennonite Information center just one mile from our apartment.

The garden is a restful spot where you will want to sit and enjoy a book while hearing the call of the birds, the water splashing in the pond and the croaking of the pond frogs, or the clip-clop of the Amish horses on the road below. You may want to eat your meals in the garden house, make hot dogs, etc. in the garden fire pit or just sit in the garden house during a rain shower and enjoy the fresh smell of the garden.

RELAXING, QUIET AND LOVELY

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent six nights at Cozy Garden Getaway as part of our annual June trek to PA from Arizona to visit parents and grandchildren. Gardening in Arizona has an altogether different flavor compared to PA gardening. I was nostalgic for green and I found it here. This lovely garden with contrasting colors, textures and symmetry pleases the eye. Purple clematis, pink spirea and zinnias stand beside towering palms and fragrant, exotic white daffodils. Red amaryllis and white yucca were in bloom and the black raspberries were ripening. The wood thrushes sang choruses every morning. Night time strolls by neighboring cornfields revealed myriads of fireflies like stars in the sky. I felt a part of it all when watering the garden and feeding the fish. Thanks, Dawn and Herb, for your hospitality and generosity to us by providing such a relaxing place to stay.

THE PERFECT HAVEN

  • 5 of 5
We chose this spot based in part on the ecstatic reviews, and now we want to add our voices to the chorus! Even in winter, Fern Wood is idyllic -- as tranquil and welcoming as you could wish. The moment we walked in, we felt at home. This immaculate, cleverly designed space was just right for our family of four, including two 20-something daughters. There was a lovely fire in the wood-burning stove when we arrived--just right for curling up together with board games or books. Every single item you might need is provided, plus many extras you wouldn't have dreamed of. Shopping in local stores, we enjoyed cooking breakfast before our daytime excursions. We slept beautifully. Dawn could not have been more gracious throughout the process, and we were even able to get on Herb's schedule for a customized tour of the Amish and Mennonite countryside. What a lovely getaway! Thank you, Dawn and Herb!

GREAT PLACE FOR A FAMILY GET-AWAY, AWESOME HOSTS!

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at Dawn and Herb's place was beyond wonderful! We stayed there for about 5 days and chose not to spend the last day of our trip to go and see Philadelphia but stayed at Fernwood instead because it was so relaxing and beautiful. Our two girls (ages 5 and 8) loved to spend time with Dawn in the garden, and we all enjoyed th lovely hospitality Dawn and Herb provide for their guests. The apartment is cute and comfortable, complete with cozy bedrooms, toys for the kids and handcrafted flowery pictures. Thank you so much, Dawn and Herb! We sure hope to be able to stay again at your place! Greetings from Germany from Josi, Julia, Birk, Andreas and Daniela

BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS!!!

  • 5 of 5
The peaceful serenity of the immaculate, comfortable apartment exceeded what we had dared hope for when we arrived at Cozy Garden Getaway after a tiring trip. How delightful to discover a cozy wood fire blazing on a cool winter evening! Fresh flower arrangements, a bowl of fruit and relaxing music added unexpected touches to the sparkling clean apartment. Dawn warmly welcomed us, serving us if we needed her, but never intruding on our privacy. She has put careful thought into every detail of providing a restful haven for travelers. Her artistic matted photos of the garden and framed creations of dried flowers and ferns added simple and tasteful decor. The bed was most comfortable and furnished with a cozy duvet. The wooded setting, pastoral view and gorgeous gardens provide the perfect setting for relaxation. You can be sure we will not stay at a smokey motel room in the area when we have such a lovely, immaculate retreat available for the same price. Cozy Garden Getaway is a rare and hidden treasure which exceeded all our expectations. We left feeling refreshed and relaxed and can't wait to return in the summer!

This getaway location was such a gem. We were visiting family nearby who didn't have room for guests and Dawn's place was perfect. They were very kind and had all sorts of personalized little touches that made our stay so pleasant.
