A breathtaking view of Eiffel Tower – Paris skies - “Atelier” studio overlooking the rooftops of Paris
Everyday the unmistakeable feeling of the aura of Paris greets you with your first look out the window of this 6th floor “atelier” studio. The changing skies and the unique Parisian light that has attracted artists of all ages to the city fascinates the beholder. (Currently there is a rennovation of the 17th Century Hopital Laennec. You also see the cranes in the first photo. For this reason the weekly and monthly rental rates have been reduced since early this year. The cranes, however, do not block our view.)
Recently modernised, the studio has an open kitchen with all equipment required for a your convenience and comfort. The sofa bed and alcove dining area add to the charm. The sofa opens to a comfortable normal size double bed. Via TV, DVDs and WIFI - internet access you may keep in touch with the rest of the world. An airy skylight enhances the space. Located on the colorful Parisian left bank, you have easy access to the most important historical sights, museums, theaters, cinemas and shopping areas of the city. Whether you prefer to walk, bike, enjoy the view via the three local bus lines that pass in front of the building, or if you want to connect to the outskirts of the city via the metro, the heart of Paris is available within easy reach. Local buses travel regularly to main spots in the city. (Notre Dame, St.Germain de Pres, the Louvre, Les Halles, Centre Pompedieu/ Beaubourg, Hotel de Ville).
At the same time this studio offers you a home away from home to escape busy streets to a peaceful atmosphere. You have the choice to breakfast at home or at a nearbye cafe, lunch at a local restaurant and return from sightseeing or shopping to rest and fix your evening meal. There are excellent restaurants, brasseries and snack bars that offer a variety of meals for all tastes at all price levels nearbye. You may also pick up catered warm meals from the famous Grand Epicerie of the Bon Marche or one of the other nearbye catering services.
A wide range of shopping opportunities are also available nearbye. The elegant and oldest department store, the Bon Marché, is only across the way. The neighborhood is filled with a variety of exclusive boutiques (rue de Sevres, Cherche Midi and rue du Bac as well as the discount best brands in the rue St.Placide).
If you are flying into the city you may also reach the studio via the airport Bus from Orly or Charles de Gaulle/ Roissy Airport to Montparnasse, from there you have a short walk or taxi ride. The studio is equally available via the RER local airport train with one connection at the Metro Cluny to our exit Sevres Babylon. All of the train stations are easily accessible by metro from here.

Owner’s Profile I am originally from California and my husband from Germany. We came to Paris as students and absolutely fell in love with the city. Once married we settled together in Germany and raised our children in Berlin. We knew that Paris would become a second home. We both ended up having many professional ties and obligations in Paris. We bought this studio over twenty five years ago. It is the wonderful location and it was indeed the spectacular view that sold it to us. We live in Berlin, but we have always spent much time here both professionally and socially. Our children were able to attend school here and spend many vacations in France. Paris is still one of their favorite spots. They have entered professional life in very different parts of the world and traveling has become common to all of us. Thus, we have less time to take advantage of our studio in Paris. For this reason we have decided to make the studio available to tourists who might cherish Paris as much as we do. We have completely modernised the studio to include all of the equipment required to add to the comfort of a stay while enjoying the city.
Czarina Wilpert purchased this studio in 1982
What do I particularly like about this location in Paris? Paris is a city to walk in. No matter how often one visits one is compelled, at least I am, to walk to almost all destinations.. Paris is not only beautiful and the most important city for tourism in Europe, it has a unique intimacy. This neighborhood is very lively, the small shops amazingly interesting and the shopkeepers attentive. In addition to the architechtural sites, the numerous historical spots, I love the many open air fresh food markets at all times of the year. Especially wonderful in this neighborhood is the weekly Sunday open air market on the nearbye Boulevard Raspail. It is known for its rich assortment of healthy fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and meat and all kinds of condiments. It is the best place to plan your Sunday dinner. The sellers, producers, bakers, grocers, fishmongers, butchers are all welcoming and willing to advise you in how to prepare certain delicacies. Us shoppers are also amusing curiosities.
For your intellectual / cultural interests you have several French bookstores only a short walk away French readers La Hune (open until midnight) on the Place St. Germain in the neighbhood the famous Café de Flore is known as a favourite for French intellectuals. A bit further along St. Germain toward Odeon you can catch the most recent English language (or German, Italian and of course French) films in the original version at the nearbye cinemas. Parisians also love the cinema. The revivals of the best American, British and other European old timers will be found around the Boulevard. St. Michel and Cluny in the Latin Quarter, another short distance by foot, bus,or metro. Not far away is another destination for a short walk, the beautiful Jardin de Luxembourg Park. Also the walks along the Seine and in the Jardin de Tuilleries set between the Louvre and the Place Concerd. Within easy reach and I find them equally beautiful for passing aimiable time, alone or with others in Paris on a Sunday or holiday. But there is no end to other pleasant tours and cosy corners within and on the outskirts of Paris. Although most Paris visitors bring their own guides you will find some proposals in our studio that we and our guests propose to you. Have fun enjoying being a Parisian for at least a week or more!
The apartment was cozy, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there and were well taken care of by the owner who was very kind and responsive. The surrounding neighborhood is wonderful with many places to eat, drink, and shop. We hope to return very soon.
My husband and I spent two very happy weeks in this studio. If you are looking for 5-star American comfort accommodations, check into hotels of this sort. This studio is a great parisian style way to spend your holiday. Great delicatessen and all sorts of goodies a few steps away. What could be better than the Grande Epicerie? Carrefour is also very close. Communications with the owner and property management was perfect. The view was beautiful. Two metro stations are less than 5 minutes away (Vaneau, Sevres-Babylone) and further on St. Placide. Studio was cozy, kitchen with enough equipment, appliances and utensils. Wifi and TV are also available. The elevator had problems a couple of times, but owner and property management went out of their way to see that such issue was solved as fast as a possible. Maybe the building management itself should be a little more firm. Rue Cherche-Midi (parallel to Sevres) is a lot of fun also, full of cafés and shops. Pastry shops all over. All in all we had a splendid time, location was awesome, customer service A+. We would gladly get on a plane tomorrow and spend long periods of time there!
Everything about this property is 5 stars. Communication with the owner was prompt and excellent. The photos and description are very accurate. Even though the construction is still going on across the street at the Hospital, you are so high up the views are still incredible. We have amazing photos of the Eiffel tower and Invalides from the apartment windows, both day and night. Two metro stations are less than 5 minutes away. Bon Marche Epicerie is across the street and was so convenient for food shopping (and gifts!). As for the apartment, you can tell that the owner has thought of all the big and little things that make a stay enjoyable. This was my 5th trip to Paris, my 4th apartment rental, so I have something for comparison. The kitchen was well stocked (thank you for the Nespresso machine--the coffee store is also nearby!), as was the bathroom. The sofa bed was extremely comfortable. We never put it up into a sofa--we still had plenty of room and other seating available. The separate shower worked fine. The apartment was very clean, and the furnishings are comfortable. We appreciated technology (TV, wi-fi) that worked with no problems. The elevator works fine, entry to the building is secure and easy. The check-in/check-out people were great and knew the apartment well. They were very concerned about being prompt and helpful, and called a cab for us when we left. The owner (who is in Germany when not in Paris) has put the place in good hands. There was construction noise early some mornings (we kept the windows open almost all of the time) but this is Paris--I like street noises. And I loved hearing the church bell clock chiming! If you close the window, the noises are hardly noticeable. But the fresh air was lovely. We heard no noise from neighbors. This is a special place, and I would love to stay again. The apartment has two key things you should look for when staying in Paris: close to metro(s), which means you are close to anything, and safe neighborhood. Everything else is welcome bonus. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This was about my 12th visit to Paris, but I had always stayed in a hotel for a week or two. This was a fabulous change of pace. I felt at home, safe, and a resident of this friendly, lively neighborhood.
The listing is totally realistic: absolutely no surprises. The location is extremely desireable, very close to three Metro stops. I found St. Placide a useful line, in addition to Vaneau and Sevres-Babylone.
Building entry is user friendly with an electronic key fob to open lobby level doors. The elevator functioned problem-free.
The night time views of the Eiffel Tower and the Invalides Dome are incredibly beautiful out your very own windows! Whenever I was home at night, I jumped up on the hour to run to the windows to enjoy the lights dancing on the Eiffel Tower. What a treat!
In addition to La Grande Epicerie directly across the street, both Carrefour and FranPrix (supermarkets) with great takeout salads, chocolate, and wine, etc. are two minutes away. The neighborhood has become very upscale and is a very safe area. I came home alone by Metro after the opera and concerts after 11pm with no uneasy feelings. And a bonus! I found two non-smoking cafes nearby (Cafe/Bar Horizon at St. Placide and Vaugirard, and Cafe Rousseau at the corner of rue St. Placide and rue du Cherche Midi). My breakfast/ coffee hangout was at the corner of rue de Sevres and Vaneau. Every server was nice, and the decaf was delicious. It was also good for Happy Hour, as was Sip at Pl. Corbusier where potato chips accompanied the beverage. Also loved Les Antiquaires at 13 rue du Bac for dinner.
I'm a cleanliness fanatic, and I had no complaints, plus there are numerous cleaning products available.
After you make up the bed in the morning, which only requires putting the pillows and comforter in the dresser, you have a spacious room and a lovely couch to relax on. I almost felt I was at home in my own 1 bdrm condo. There are abundant hangers and drawers for your belongings. The kitchen is well supplied with equipment, appliances and utensils. Wifi and TV are troublefree. The shower has a nice heated towel rack.
Though I know it increases the competition, I have already recommended this studio to my friends.
The owner was promptly responsive to every question & request. I met both Philippe and Lionel, local managers, and adored them both. It was obvious they knew the property well and wanted to make my stay pleasant.
I would happily stay there 3 months. Six?
We enjoyed our week in this small apartment. It is a short walk to the Metro, and sadly we only discovered on the last day, was so close to many restaurants if we had only walked in the direction behind our apartment! We walked to many attractions including Musee D'orsay, Notre dame, Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, The Louvre and St Peters.Only taking half an hour or less to get to each.
We were very grateful for its very tiny lift. It had a small but efficient shower at the end of the kitchen and a separate toilet and tiny sink. That was it for a bathroom! The towels were very old and needed replacing. It was cold when we were there only reaching 15oC each day but the unit was a lovely temperature. Never needed a heater. The washing machine and drier were a life saver when I finally worked them out. I would definitely ask the person who met us to give us the keys how to use it next time as all the controls and instruction book are in French (of course!) A lot of construction right across the road which wasn't brilliant but didn't overly bother us. Very comfortable bed. A few rickety old chairs to sit on so not the most comfortable unless you wanted to fold the bed up every morning to use the lounge which we never did. Lots of helpful maps and books. I think they could really make it lovely by spending a bit of money on some decent comfortable chairs and new towels, otherwise a small but lovely apartment that had everything you needed even if it was on a small scale.
My husband and I stayed for a month on rue de Sèvres. Since over 10 years, we have been renting apartments in France and particularly in Paris, but I must say we fell under the spell of this one!
It stood out by its brightness and its panoramic view over fantastic sunsets!
Paris, for us, means getting access to very nice gardens (jardins du Luxembourg, Catherine Labouré...), strolling in a neighbourhood that is as beautiful as it is safe, and getting close to Saint-Ignace church. Nothing is ordinary when you live so close to La grande Épicerie de Paris and the Bon Marché!
To top it off, young Adéline welcomed us with much courtesy. It really helped to have such a responsible person available on-site.
We really look forward to returning again.

I spent February and March of 2014 living in this charming little studio while attending classes in Paris. I loved being there. Everything was as described. The kitchen was adequately supplied and the sofa/bed was very comfortable and extremely easy to convert. The view is spectacular despite the current construction which partially obstructs the Eiffel Tower. The elevator was somewhat unreliable but the owner and manager were responsive to problems when they arose. The studio is a short 10 minute walk to the Luxembourg Gardens, a 15 minute walk to Montparnasse and a 20 minute walk to Odeon. There are two Metro stops very close and the bus stops just outside the door to the building. There is a Carrefour down the block for groceries and a huge Bon Marche across the street. I would definitely recommend this charming studio especially once the elevator is fixed permanently. It couldn't be more warm and welcoming.
