Lovely home and location

We have just returned from two gorgeous weeks in Barra de Navidad at Casa Eden. The home is spacious and comfortable, close to everything, and the owner was exceptionally helpful and prompt when I emailed with questions.
Located on a side street just before the entrance to Barra, Casa Eden is a short walk from the beach, from a 24-hour store, from the all-important beer deposito, and from the best pollo asado ever. Frequent bus service to Melaque, Chihuatlan, and La Manzanilla is available on the main route just a block away from the house, and on Thursdays the market is practically outside the front door.
The food in Barra and Melaque is great, and very inexpensive. Check out Mexico Lindo for a great view, Loco Loco for pizza, Ramon's for the best salsa and fresh fish. The Sunset bar (a bit tricky to find -- across the intersection from the church) has excellent pina coladas.
If you are heading to Melaque, take the bus (6 pesos) or a taxi (50 pesos). Check out the Albatros bar on the beach or La Campasina just inland (say "hi" to Howard) or Scooby's for ribs and BBQ. With Barra as your home base you can take day trips to many gorgeous beaches: La Manzanilla for body surfing and Cuestocomante for snorkeling were our favourites.
Although we spent most of our time out and about, we were always happy to come home to Casa Eden. My kids loved the pool, I enjoyed the sunny backyard, and we all enjoyed BBQ night. One thing to keep in mind about Mexico, though, is that the street noise is very different than it is in Canada. Be prepared for roosters crowing and dogs barking, and expect to hear the water truck's horn and the ice-cream-truck song of the Global Gas seller. What you won't hear are ambulances, fire trucks, and car alarms, hooray! But do not underestimate how different the night noise is in Mexico -- the prudent traveler will bring earplugs.
We had a bit of a tricky time finding the house on our way in -- if you get to the big fish you have gone too far! Double back and take the secondary road east of the main road. Look for the street sign on the telephone pole!
Thanks for a great stay in your home. Adios for now.
